Hiking Kauai | Moalepe Trail - Easy Jungle Hike
If you are looking for a quick hike that will get you into the jungle on your next visit to Kauai, the Moalepe Trail is a perfect choice. The path is wide and has a gradual incline the entire way. You begin by walking through a cow pasture that has amazing ocean views behind you and magnificent views of the Makaleha mountain range in front of you.
Locals here often use this trail for dog walking, mountain biking, and trail running. This trail also is great for birding. To walk the entire path which includes Moalepe and Kuliau you'll go 4.4 miles one way. If you want to go to the Kuliau overlook, which is by far the best part of the hike, you'll have to hike about 3 miles to get to it making your trip a total of 6 miles.

Cool things we saw on this hike were the Mimosa Pudica aka sensitive plant, a rat, cows, up-close view of Makaleha Mountain Range, a waterfall, fiddleheads, and we heard lots of birds!
