For the 500 million people that insist on comparing these cars to other cars, here is the reality, people buy Aston Martins because you might see 50,000 Audis, 20,000 Porsches etc etc on the road in your town, you might only see 5 Aston Martins if that. Go to the club, rev your silent (you can't) Tesla while the mighty V12 in the Aston goes off and see which car the models jump in.
If you want an Aston buy an Aston, if you want a tesla buy a tesla, if you want a Bentley buy a Bentley.. I don't care if the boots shit and it's cramped in the back I'm buying a car because I love it. I've dreamed about it. I've worked hard. Of course i would buy the Rapide S .. 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧

In my opinion *just mine, nobody else's* I think the refresh makes the front off the Rapide a little less attractive. However, it's still an Aston Martin. And Aston Martin is almost always equal to Sub-Zero on the cool wall (Except for the Cygnet.)
+titleguy1 - The pre-facelift Rapide is by far the prettiest version. The Rapide S front grill is far too large and the rear spoiler ruins the lines at the back.
The plus points are that the Rapide S 2017 has an 8 speed ZF, is a lot faster than the original Rapide and has a decent enough Sat Nav/Entertainment system with AMi III which is a billion times better than the archaic Volvo sourced Sat Nav in the original cars.

This car just got replaced two weeks ago by the new 2015MY Rapide S, now faster and more powerful, newer interior and exterior options and also a new ZF 8-speed 'box!
Enjoyed yiur review. I love the Rapide-S. In my opinion the Lagonda series 4 looked fantastic; ahead of its time.
Looks absolutely fantastic. Well equiped and pretty fast. Plus AM badge. Who needs more!

I saw one of these in Torquay last Thursday, and I have to say;

I just found this channel after getting pissed of with Drive due to their mental format re-think, and I have to say how impressed I've been the few videos I've watched. Keep up the good work, i would think they'll be a few more coming over too , if they haven't already :-)

Apart from the Porsche Panamera (which is a bit ugly) there is also the Jaguar XJ(R). It's also quite powerful, stylish, has a very desirable brand and is a lot more practical. In terms of coolness though nothing comes close to an Aston Martin.

I like how you mention all those rather awkward rivals of Rapide yet you forget to mention the most obvious one, and probably the only real one: Porsche Panamera. I wonder if it has anything to do with the fact that it spanks Rapide.
I would still take Rapide over Panamera, but this omission looks kinda convenient.
the panamera is a fugly car, and people who generally buy these cars really don't care about a peice of paper that says one is a couple seconds faster than the other or one weighs differently. people buy astons for their beauty.

If you really want your Aston Martin Wagon (you can say shooting brake all you want it's a wagon) then Bertone will probably make you one for the right price.
Headroom for the rear, but there is probably at least one made custom by aston.

2:40... not that interesting IMO that it was called a Rapide... Lagonda made Rapides before the war, and there were a few made in the 60s too!
It's gorgeous but it doesn't really match its competition in anything else.
Well, for dad's I suppose it is, or probably not, but for us gamer automotive enthusiasts who still look up there dream car's on the internet it's not.

An Aston is just...I dunno. They've been making cars for ages. So when they release a car whether it's 2 or 4 doors people pay attention. Porsche is new to the SUV market and I love what they've done. But like you said, it'll never be an Aston!

The thing is.. The rear seats are in this are useless. Not much better than a Maserati GranTurismo. None of the guys I know fit. The Ferrari FF on the other hand. Seats 4 adults all over 6' comfortably.
Such a shame because the Rapide might be the prettiest car ever.

haha no wait i love how classy the Aston is.... but you gotta see it from a financial state of mind. an average american could never really afford an Aston.... BUT there is a SERIOUS chance of a successful college grad affording a 707HP beast. i just like to keep my dreams level headed... i dream of owning a lambo everynight, but it might not happen. The Hellcats are seriously affordable and i would love to own one.

As someone with an RS7 on their driveway, i do quite agree with you. But an Aston Martin is a different experience, it's a character of it's own that isn't replicated in other companies, there's a sense of drama and a one of a kind noise that you only get with an Aston. That's the beautiful things about cars, whether i drive the RS7 or my Nissan Z31 300ZX, they have parts and character about them are particularly interesting. If we all bought cars that were cheap and fast, then everyone would be driving V6 Mustangs. One car is never the answer.

Anyone considering buying an Aston Martin would NEVER think for one second of buying an M6. Aston Martins are classy and sophisticated.
At the end of the day a Maserati Granturismo does everything the Rapide S does but better, it has a beautiful engine note, it is Italian, it is cheaper, it is absolutely gorgeous, has proper back seats that even 6ft tall people can fit in and a decent trunk, and have you seen the interior, go search on YT "2014 Maserati Granturismo Centennial" and just drool over the interior (watch the video with the blue car was that is the convertible and you can appreciate the interior). Overall, the Aston martin is pointless as you have the Maserati as a cheaper and better alternative, period!!!!!

It is a proper 4 sweater... Porsche 911 is't a proper 4 seater... Aston Martin vanquish is not a proper 4 seater... Fiat 500 is not a proper 4 seater...this though is exceptional... This is the most amazing car of its category. This car has a flavor, a taste. This car is not about the numbers but about the experience!
It's beautiful, yes but it's a dated car with dated technology. And lets not forget the massive deprecation on this thing. It's no wonder you don't see too many Rapide's on the road and why Aston is considering axing this car.

I'm sorry, but this car... it looks wrong. For an Aston. Adding those extra seats and doors means adding some bulk in the back, which makes the car look... wrong. Fat even, bloated. Not a beautiful looking Aston imo. And that huge front grill, my God this Aston look bloated.

and nobody cares, because if there's an aston next to a tesla, the tesla looks like a mazda 6 in comparison. ordinary and dull. nobody buys an aston to be fast. you buy an aston because you want an aston. also, if you drag race cars like these... you're an idiot.

It could be argued that, one man's music is another man's noise....: It's all a matter of perspective, however out right speed is another story, that can't be argued!
