The Rapide S is the most under-rated of the modern Astons (disclaimer: I have one) - the most powerful version of the NA 6L V12 this side of a Vanquish and DBS, double wishbone suspension, hydraulic steering, LSD, near 50:50 weight distribution, all combine to provide sports car like handling no near 2 tonne GT has any right to expect! They are also very rare, are instantly recognisable for having the largest grill of any except Zagato and new DBS. And a road presence second to none - I've owned many cars but NONE that garner so much positive attention as this one. A future classic which will become collectible when people wake up to it's very special qualities. Yes the rear can be cramped for tall people, but its a genuine 4 seater and far more practical than a 2+2.
I would agree and considered making one an aspiration once I finish with the school fees. Aston Martin make very good looking cars. Unfortunately I listened to the outstanding Smith and Sniff podcast where Richard Porter recommended a Rapide to his friend who had sworn he would never buy another Aston after being burnt with a V8. Sadly his friend is now dealing with a £9k bill for a gearbox. I have now come to the conclusion I will admire people like you from afar (indeed I smiled at a lovely looking Vantage today) and appreciate the looks without the bills. Instead, in three years time, I am looking forward to building a GT40 as a bonkers Sunday car. I genuinely wish you luck with your Rapide. There is something stunning about all Astons and thank you for keeping them running for the rest of us to look at.
There were always faster racers, but even Schumacher agreed that Tiff was the perfect choice for any TV show - he said whilst most F1 drivers can drive a car quickly and drift them, Tiff just naturally put the car at the right angle for the camera and would likely get out with even the writing on the tyres pointing the right way. Nice bloke, too.
Is this where Subaru/Toyota got their inspiration for the "ducktail" rear spoiler on their next generation BRZ/86? Tiff is an accomplished driver with impeccable presentation and delivery. Funny to boot! (the exact opposite of that buffoon Clarkson, thank God)
4:37 I do think that AM deliberately give a shorter wheelbase than either the Quattroporte or the Panamera for the sharper handling. For someone tall like Jason or Tiff, sitting in the back is definitely not an option.
Tesla S might be slightly inspired by this profile. Slightly. I wish Tiff was on the Grand Trout. Give some counterweight to Jeremy. Itd be super entertaining.
I didn’t think Clarkson and Needell were such an entertaining match during their TopGear time. The trio May-Hammond-Clarkson was far more entertaining. The only downside is that Tiff has more driving skill than that trio combined. I’m a huge Tiff fan since the 90’s. Nobody drives a car to bits like him. Jason & Vicks know how to turn a wheel as well. But Fifth Gear has always been more car journalism than entertainment, like Top Gear was before the trio. Johnny’s entertainment value can’t be underestimated either. Driving around on chipfat and so on…
Oh dear. Tired cliche, and Ford have been out of Aston for years now. They stole some styling cues on the way out, but an Aston being compared to a Ford is like comparing the Crown Jewels to some glass fakes. Except for a couple of unforgivable crossovers like those awful indicator and wiper stalks!
Come on Fifth Gear, bring Tiff back.
Tiff has his own channel now called Lovecars on youtube
Ah, it's such a great thing to watch Tiff, great presentation and one hell of a driver.
Tiff was the greatest thing about Fifth Gear. Stopped watching after they unceremoniously sacked him.

Aston Martin's buried treasure. The Germans can never get as gorgeous and tempting as the Rapide S. It's genuinely a good-looking and classy gentleman
Owning a AM's for 14 years. My Rapide S is my favorite! I will never sell it. By far, the most underestimated Aston Martin.
You need to get Tiff back along side Jason & Vicky.
Still my favorite sedan...

Nice bloke, too.
We want Tiffy back @5th gear
Cheers for the video mate 😎 👌
Being an English car I would expect the transmission to have Normal, Sport, Track AND Depeche Mode.
Magnifique!
Beautiful Grand Tourer! Great review by Tiff.
Fifth gear was the best car show on TV. Tiff v Plato brilliant

If Tiff's so 'legendary', why did you fire him??
Right and cashing out on him now probably w/o paying any royalties
Because they are stupid....
The title calls the car legendary not the presenter
5th Gear hasn't existed since Tiff was gone for me, sorry.
Loves it
80% of rear seat passengers are children, so the accommodation is fine.
It's felt nostalgic and very enthusiastic review compared to shiiit like paid reviews in carwow nowadays
tiff is basically a white version of bunta fujiwara.
Dream car🥰
I miss BTCC races at Rockingham.. Such a shame.
Will get it one day
wasnt mr hyde the calm one >?
What's the point of such limited rear leg room in a car like that? Why bother to fit back seats at all?
This is how i like my car reviews..more please. How about the Tesla Plaid?
is Fifth gear still on? is it just old clips?
I believe they’re uploading old clips.
this channel used to be free, now it’s pay to win and they STILL just keep uploading between decade old and 20 year content🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️

I saw the similarity in the silhouette as well, glad I wasn't alone, mainly ¾ side profile

Yeah, it desperately needs Tiff back..., show is as flat as a pancake with Karun Chanduck.., a nice bloke, but just very unengaging...
Seems all of Tiffs reviews were legendary. but hey I clicked and so did you so the titles work

Would any real-world owner bring it to the track
Thats a Ford isnt it?
