      Hi Shaun. I’m a very keen club player. I’ve saved like crazy and just invested in a cue from John parriss and a set of aramith 1g balls. Is playing with better balls than my local club going to improve my game? Maybe you could do a video on comparison between the two

    Hi Shaun, I heard you are going to be restarting the channel soon, so I'm excited for that.
    Sending this message just after the World Championship final ended. I just wanted to say that you are just a complete inspiration to me and I'm sure to others as well. It sounds as if the past few years have been tough but hopefully the Crucible crowd tonight reminded you how much you are loved by fans everywhere. We've missed you at the top.
    Right behind you for future success. I know you can be a world champion and triple crown winner again!

Could you do a tutorial how to aim when playing with side spin because usually when I play with side I miss very often because I don't know how I should be aiming. And other suggestion would be how to play shots when your bridge has to be on the cushion and when the ball is close to the cushion and further.

    Hi Shaun!
    I am a great admirer of your game and a big fan of your "rolls royce" cue action and now the fact that you are connected by us -fans- through youtube is a tremendous feeling. LOVED your video about the deep screw and how important it is in positional play.
    But I think being an amateur, the first fear that kicks in while going for a deep screw or applying any side, is MISCUE. Whats more irritating is that it has happened to the likes of The Rocket, John Higgins, yourself, Selby etc, that too during professional events.
    So Can you do a video on Miscues as in what instigates it, what prevents it, its relation with tip shapes and sizes etc?
    and just so you know, i was rooting for you against bingham in that epic crucible final. :D

  • @alexnutt3784
    @alexnutt3784 8 років тому

    What happens to the direction of the cue ball when you put screw/top on the ball depending on the angle it hits the object ball?

    • @simonprices
      @simonprices 8 років тому

      Alex Nutt generally top spin narrows the angle so if you put the black on its spot and white in line of black spot between black and side cushion, playing with natural angle hitting white in middle and follow through, the white will come off exactly same angle it comes on. With top spin and follow through the white comes off at less of an angle. If you get the top spin on well the white will slow somewhat when it hits the black and then speed up after contact. Playing with screw on the same shot of the black will widen the angle more to the extent the white will come back towards the middle pocket on the same side you are standing. Stun shots can widen the natural angle too but not as much as a screw shot, in a stun by hitting the white centre ball or slightly below centre ball. At some stage the stun will become the screw when playing with more bottom on the white. Stun shots are played where the cue follows through the white but stops at a point on the follow through and stuns the white such it doesn't have as much forward rolling momentum but stun developed by the follow through of the cue, which helps widen the angle because there is relatively limited rolling forward motion on the white. On the other hand a follow through shot is such where after hitting the white your cue continues to follow through more, such that you will often get the delayed rolling, and the ball coming through at less of an angle.

      If you think he's wrong, he is right. It's almost impossible to deep screw like Shawn because of the cloth on club tables. The table Shawn uses is very thin and produces less friction which allows you to put more action into the ball.

    • @melisos
      @melisos 8 років тому +2

      Matt Williams and SoundVlsion are right. If you play snooker or pool, you know you cannot make that long deep screw back shot on old,club cloth or the cloth with not 100% contain of wool. You can have the best technique, it is almost impossible, but silicon spray on balls can be helpful. Anyway Shaun´s technique is almost perfect.
