I can not explain in mere mortal words how much I love these kind of videos that you somehow make with your magic wand and insane video shooting skills
I think we need to rethink the cannon design. Compressing more and more TNT will not work forever, but it is a great stepping stone for the next step; Chained compressors. By using multiple explosions chained together we can spread out the lag. The 3000 TNT limit still applies but in an entirely different way. (I presume acceleration is additive, and friction is 1% per tick, given what was showed on the video) Instead of just exploding 3000 TNT launching the pearl 900 bps away from the source, how about we build another duper setup 900 blocks away from the first, and then another around 1790 blocks from that, and so on. We can repeatedly launch the pearl at higher and higher speeds. I wrote a little python code to calculate this, and it says that if we were to create a perfect chain of dupers, that launched the pearl perfectly straight, we could accelerate the pearl to ~89097 BPS. Give or take a few thousand. However, to get it to such speeds, it would have traveled the diagonal width of the world. The HARD limit (presuming the 3000 TNT is a hard rule) would be closer to 90000 BPS (according to my calculator 89099.9999999992 BPS) With this method we could travel from one corner of the world to the other in 1132 ticks, or (barring lag) 56.6 seconds. The biggest limitation this puts on your build is that you may have to minimize (or even remove) the use of TNT to push TNT to the center, as whenever TNT for one compressor is exploding, the big payload of another is as well. Python program for the maths: game-testing-grounds.someguy2.repl.run/ PS: I hope this helps. I've tried to make this reply as small as possible, but I'm still unhappy at how large it is. Reposted from _MethodZz_ comment on the old TNT pearl cannon video.
The main problem with chaining like that is the discrete steps the pearls will take. The chance the pearl hits a valid spot to get accelerated again is quite difficult. The tnt and the pearl are on the same height by orders of 5 decimal place accuracy inside the cannon. If chaining the pearl acceleration again then somehow the pearl have to be re-accelerated with the same y-height or close to. It's a very interesting idea but very complicated to pull off.
Hmm. Are entities still accelerated when on top of/below a extending piston? It may be possible to always align the pearl with an extending piston and align the TNT at the appropriate height using some combination of blocks and entities.
@@haph2087 Sadly its not that easy to align the pearl and the tnt that easily. The biggest problem that pearl aligning had was to get a specific bounce that generated an accurate y height equality between the explosion location and the pearls eye-height. Searching for it was extremely random and took alot of experimentation using different bouncing methods of the pearl. Thats why in the video the pearl does an odd bounce to get that specific alignment that is 5 decimal places accurate to the tnt. For even stronger blasts the accuracy needs to be down to the 6th decimal place. Its however not that relevant when doing much smaller tnt blasts.
It's a big spike activating the long 50k wire for the full distance. But a good server can survive it. Just have to not go over 30 sec for the clients to get kicked and 60 sec for the server to shut down cause of watch dog. Most servers can easily survive that much chunk loading and TNT and if needed the tag to remove the server watchdog is in the server property's (same place as the render distance settings) and client side mods can fix the client disconnect.
