I have a tuned 992 gts and I also have an emira. The Porsche is fast af but too muted and soulless (at legal speeds). The emira on the other hand makes me feel so alive. I’m selling the Porsche.
Interesting, I’m on the fence at the moment between an i4 or 992 Gts. Have only driven the Lotus so far so haven’t been able to compare. Hoping to get the chance in spring when the weather improves.
Comparing anything to a Porsche is almost a non-sequitur, as Porsches have become something in and unto themselves. People buy a Porsche because it is a Porsche. You can get most of what a Porsche does in a lot of other cars, but nothing else is a Porsche. They carry their own status as an icon. It's like people who buy a Rolex. It's not because it tells time better than any other watch, it's because it's a Rolex. And of course, you pay for that status. So in that sense, there really is no comparison, nor can you say one is better than another because there's more to it than just simple function. The other thing is as you said, that most owners just toodle around town in them, which is a ridiculous waste of what they're designed and built to do. That doesn't matter to a Porsche owner however, because of the cachet of it all. And honestly, that's fine. It's your money. Buy and use what you like. Like you, I bought an Emira. Not because I couldn't afford a Porsche, but because I liked the Emira better for what I wanted in a fun car.
