That was the deal of the year. Have had a 2100 (Craigslist-$160, all original) for a few years, after a succession of Hoovers (my Celebrity cannister model lasted 28 years and I don't have a single photo of it, let alone a video). Grandma always had an Electrolux. Now I know why. It's powerful, quiet and light.

You're correct that the 2100 series originated in Canada. It debuted in 1982 as the E-2000. When the former subsidiaries (now called Aerus) of AB Electrolux in Canada & the USA merged in 1985 the 2100 was sold in both places. At the time the US carried two lines of cleaners--its original metal line & the Canadian "Lexan" line. After about 10 years the Lexan line won out and continues being used for all Aerus's machines. There were two versions of the 2100--the first one, like yours, was modeled "Hi-Tech 2100" (stamped on the inside cover) and labeled "Electrolux 2100". It was sold door-to-door from 1985-88--first in the sand & jade color scheme (like yours) and later in taupe & sand colors; there were also some indirect sales models with other labels & colors. The later version was only sold indirectly (e.g. in stores). Labeled "2100" and modeled C141A, C141B, & C152B, it sold from about 2000-05 in greige & black. If your power nozzle is PN6A (stamped on the bottom) it would be one from the first lot of cleaners in the US; if it's a 7B it would be from the second lot. You got a great buy for an awesome cleaner!

Who knows why. The other day I also found an upright Panasonic Performance Plus at the Salvation Army that I can't see as having ever been used. Good model as well, steel brushroll, quick draw hose, etc..Was probably about $300 new a year or two ago.

Actually Pete the 2100 was not just available in Canada. A neighbor of my moms bought a 2100 here in the US in 1983 and used it until about 1999.

Is the dial on top the dirt selector for when you want the machine to shut off when the bag is full? Just like the old metal style canisters ?

The Model 2101Shampooer/Polisher in sand and jade (the color scheme of your Hi-Tech 2100) would complete your set.

This is a good model and is fairly lightweight.. I have tried to locate one on ebay, but none seem to be in as good a shape as this one.. Any plans to sell this one? Enjoy your vids, keep them coming.

I don't get it...if the vacuum works perfectly, why would someone just give it to the Salvation Army?
