Thanks so much for your videos! Love watching all of the details. And you go on and swear as much as you see fit, because it shows how normal you are in not being a phony person!! Thanks for very informative videos!🌞
Dear sir. great video. question. What was wrong with the machine that it was taken in to to fix? And was this the repair? just taking it apart and cleaning it & re-assemble. what was wrong with it. I have an ambassador II that won't start anymore. Could it be a faulty outlet destroyed the whole thing. How do you check what the problem is? thanks
Thanks for the video, I would have never figured out how to open it. My neighbors lady friend sucked up water and broke the bag, the vacuum motor sucking up the bag's contents. I replaced the motor with a new one, but on close inspection the trash was easily pulled from the old motor and it seems to be okay.
I have an Electrolux 3500 sr series but mine looks just like yours. I have a question. The knobs to wind your cord on are the same as mine, too. My top knob is out and will just spin. I've tried to tighten it but it just doesn't work. I finally pulled it off one evening and there is a "screw" . So, I tried to screw it on.....Didn't go down. I even tried the other direction. If I can get it back to where it's supposed to be, I'll glue it. On another video, a gentleman turned the top knob to loosen the cord and it broke.? I'm not getting it. These are great vacuums!! (And, I also have a Kirby) Thanks for any info you can pass on to me about that silly knob. It's been like that for years and I'm just now at that point!! 😊 I enjoyed your video. I liked when you demonstrated how low it goes when vacuuming. I bet people didn't realize that. You got a great deal on yours. Thank you again!! ⚘️
I love the design of these canisters! It's amazing how much Aerus has gone through and has made a slight impact in the cleaning industry. If I remember correctly, these were a bit pricey at the time, yet you did a wonderful video!
Another question: About 5 months ago I replaced the motor and suction control. Ran like a champ after that. Now when I use it, it runs for a minute and then the temperature light comes on and the vacuums turns on and off on its own. What is causing this?
Do you know anything about the diamond jubilee Electrolux? I can’t seem to get the suction it should have. I have taken it apart I suspect there was a repair/replacement of the bellow dial. I thing maybe the dial was installed backwards and the suction is therefore restricted or just doesn’t adjust. Is there any references you could point me toward to know how to properly set it? And clean it and the hoses. Many thanks in advance. Anna
There is no suction control, only bag change control, common misunderstanding. So that is not your problem. Most likely you are losing suction through the cloth hose it came with. If you’ve already replaced it with a vinyl upgrade then you will need to take it to a vac shop , possibly needs a new motor.
Great video. Disassembled mine and the inside is filled with carbon dust and the brushes are worn down. Where can I buy the carbon brush assemblies instead of an entire motor?
@georgegerhold3308 How can you tell the brushes are worn? did you have to disassemble the motor?. if yes, then how can you tell?. My Ambassador 3 won't turn on at all. I don't know what the problem is or how to troubleshoot. thanks.
I’m no expert but I doubt a brush issue would cause it not to start. I could tell the brushes were worn on mine because the interior was filled with carbon dust from the brushes being worn down.
I still love my Electrolux vacuum. I don’t think it’s the same one as this one in the video but it is similar. We bought ours in the early to mid 90’s.
I would really appreciate seeing the boring part. I'm attempting to clean my bellows out, among other things. I have basically torn it down and only blew the stuff out with air, but did you wash the bellows or what exactly was your process?
Hi performance reviews quick question. I have a miele c2 electro and I'm on my last fjm bag in it. I also have a c1 turbo team that I have a bunch of gn bags for. Can I put a gn bag in the c2? I know it's a bigger bag and at some point will be to big but in the mean time would it be ok?
I own a Hi Tech 2100, that is in great condition, but unfortunately it won't turn on, I've opened this up myself, and believe me, I would definitely take it to a vacuum service dealer, seeing all the wiring around makes my high school algebra brain kick in, but I still think these are great vacuums, I also owned a grey Epic 6500 SR, and it's been fantastic, but did have a sensitive bag control valve that would occasionally shut the motor off unexpectedly, but luckily I fixed that by running generic HEPA cloth bags.
Aerius (as you say) has outsourced most of its vacuum cleaners for years. The Canadian tank design is 40 years old this year. They were fine at that time but have become outdated and not as effective as modern designs. Thanks for the information.
The machine is not a sealed system and was not designed with modern filtration knowledge even with the HEPA vacuum bags it's still leaks quite a bit of dust
Each to their own opinion wise. No this is not a magic air filter by any means. Lots of carbon dust from the vac motor gets out. They will run a good 25 years if properly used and cared for. Product obsolescence has been pretty stable through the years. Everybody has always got a sales gimmick or favorite vacuum to push. This series was I initially a Canadian variant of the Electrolux line even during the metal canister era of Electrolux being sold in the USA back in the 80’s. The quality of the Areus products today has dropped considerably and I grew up with the Olympia One. Bullet proof reliability and lack of product obsolescence and a long service life and performance was their formula and their sales pitch back then and as most premium products you’re charged based on the fact they know that you shouldn’t be buying a new one for at least 25 years. It’s nonsense today not one these machines sold today is gonna last 5 to 10 years and companies make sure of that no matter what you’re buying today, because if it’s built to good that hurts the sales and manufacturing market. Money is made in the service repair end of things.
Dude is ...well, O am a vacuum pro and Elctrolux and after they sold "Lux" vacuums are AMAZING and could suck a basketball through its hose. The build quality is off the charts and the Lux Guardian I have has a gigantic hepa filter that nothing gets past. (it also was designed dumb with how it sticks out like a sore thumb on the top of the unit's body, which exposes it to possibly being snapped off)
I prefer the original Electrolux motors. They were much quieter, and these cheapo motors make nothing but a high whine and they really don’t work much better. I’d at least swap that motor with an Ametek or Domel suction motor of the same size as it might actually have better suction in that case.
Yeah it's actually their most powerful model currently. It's even better than all the other current Aerus vacuums, especially the Guardian Platinum. That's what I would get if I were to buy a new Aerus today, just would need to empty it, swap the filters out and wash them every time that I would vacuum if I want it to last longer. I don't plan to get a Centralux for myself but I may be insane enough in the future to get one anyways lol. Cause I'll admit, the E130G is my second most favorite central vacuum system of all time. Even though I'm not too crazy about Lux myself haha.
I sold those when I was in my early 20's, under the Electrolux Epic era. Horrible job but a decent machine. Ridiculously overpriced. The key to Elux machines was to make sure that the genuine Elux or Aerus bags were used. The generic Envirocare or DVC brands were an Elux warranty killer.

Replace as a whole assembly the bearings are probably on their last legs too.

Yes there are many versions of this vacuum. The first one being the 2100.
Glad that you serviced it upside down this time.
Your so right about that 🤣
What could be the problem if my lux 7000 just stop turning on? One day working fine and then it just stopped turning on
A ton of things on vacuums that age you should bring it to your local vacuum store and have them fix it

I really want a Epic 6500SR. The gray color really makes it look tough.

Believe it or not some parts actually work in the Model G, too.
It looks like a 2000's Compaq computer had sex with an 80's Electrolux and out popped this thing.
I gutta a question

Sad that Electrolux has went downhill since about 2000 or so
At least their Centralux unit has improved not too long ago.
