    The bolt-on neck models are 6 bolt. The smaller two screws are pick-guard screws and are meant to keep the plate attached to the body when you remove the neck, which is a nice touch. Great video guys!

      Worship Tutorials actually they are neck plate screws the two smaller ones which hold the neck plate in place if the need for removing the neck is ever needed. The pickguard is on the front of a guitar, not the back. That square metal piece on the back where the neck joins to the body is called a neck plate.

      Lyric Klein even Reverend describes them as scratchplate screws. It's because they are the same screws used to hold the scratchplate on.

      @@lyric.kayden maybe if you read WT's comment again you will realize that he already knew the things you insisted on "teaching" him. He obviously only called the two small screws pickguard screws to describe their size, and he had also correctly described their function.

    I have 3 Reverends: The Rick Vito, Club King RT and the Pete Anderson RT. They are very fun guitars, I think everyone should have one in their collection. It's not easy to find your "chosen one" because they make so many kind with different sounds and styles, but when you do find one, you'll get that feeling you get when you make a new friend.

    Hey Rob and the Captain, greetings from the USA. Some time ago I watched one your videos on how to play standing up, something I have always struggled with. I took your advise and bought a good guitar strap, and started practicing. The real benefit was to my posture while playing seated. My back would ache, and I would have pain in my right shoulder, and my the muscles in my right arm would tense.
    Now when I play seated, I use my strap as when playing while standing, letting the guitar hang from the strap. My posture improved, my picking hand "found" its ideal position on the bridge, and my playing has really improved. Now I play without pain, and practicing and playing is much more enjoyable.
    That one tip really made a difference. Thanks, and cheers.

    I've got the Buckshot and as much as I hate to fall victim to confirmation bias...I think that these are terrific guitars. Very affordable sleepers that sound, look and play great and include thoughtful design touches. (Courtesy of Joe Naylor & Co.) The Corgan sounds especially great on this demo: clean, stringy and balanced, even with high gain. Impressive.

      I like the entire staff. Pete's playing is really nice but he does at times just grab for a lot of notes like Chappers does. They're both guilty of it and so are most other guitarists. It's just something you do early on when playing and then you learn to restrain it.

    Billy Corgan threw a fit at a show I went to during the mellon collie tour and he ran offstage as soon as the contractual minimum time for the show had been reached - about 45 minutes. The rest of the band just stood onstage trying to figure out what to do, so James Iha walked up to a mic and said, "I'm sorry, everybody" and they left the stage. As it turned out, word was that Corgan was angry that they hadn't completely sold out so he took his anger out on the people who DID buy tickets. I have no respect for any artist who has such disrespect for me, so I'll never ever buy anything he's associated with again.

      As a long time fan, there are many sides to Billy Corgan. Crybaby is indeed one of them. He's also been known to be a pretentious ego and insecurity driven control freak. He's also been a genuine intelligent guy and a musical genius. He's a man of contradictions. I mean his band could call equal influence from the Cure, Sepultura, Shoegaze, the Scorpions, Rush, Electronica, and Joni Mitchell. I'd like to think he's bit mellower these days, he has a wife and a kid, and recently got back on good terms with all the original members- something I thought would never happen, but look at Guns n Roses. He's also a legitimate shredder and a studio wizard worthy of a signature guitar.

  • @johnnyjonsson3681
    @johnnyjonsson3681 8 років тому +6

    I think the two middle screws holds the neck plate in place when you remove the neck. So it's "just" a 6 bolt neck.

    • @crmac

      Not sure where you heard that but that is not true. They simply hold the neck plate in place if you remove the neck. I own multiple Reverends and have removed the necks on a few as well. There is no kind of tilt mechanism.

      Yeah, I've been bugging them to do one for ages. I don't know if they would use this sig though as it would eat up most of their budget. Also I'm always a little let-down when they just grab a sig instead of trying to find a regular guitar model that will do the job.

    • @vikonja121
      @vikonja121 8 років тому +1

      well since billy used various strats throughout most of his career, they would probably pick out some sort of squier, a hot-rodded one preferably (if there is one in the upper ranges), since they can't really put lace sensors into the squier..
      I'm really curious about the amp choice though, I'm pretty sure they would go with something versatile, like the blackstar HT series or maybe the egnater tweaker? since billy used JCM800s in the early smashing pumpkins years, then in the mid 90-s he used a marshall JMP-1 valve preamp into a mesa strategy 500 poweramp, later on into 2000 and onwards he used all kinds of amps, noticeably Diezel amps..

      +vikonja121 use a blackstar on the KT-88 setting, JHS Muffaletta (Billycorgan setting,level cranked,tone at 1 and gain at max)and any half decent guitar.
      Simple rig unless you wanna get into how everything on Siames dream was ran through a phaser and having butch vig work his thing

    • @vikonja121
      @vikonja121 8 років тому

      I agree, their guitar/amp/effects choice could tonally probably cover only a fraction of the songs.. honestly I've seen enough to know that they'll just jam in a big muff, play some siamese dream riffs like cherub rock and today, then do a clean tone with 1979 and another dirty with bullet with butterfly wings.. lame stuff

    The eight bolt neck is actually a six bolt neck. The two middle ones just hold the neck plate in position while you get the six actual neck bolts in. Really helpful for the guy working on the instrument. The neck plate stays with the body instead of getting knocked around on the work bench and lost. A couple other neat things (for us guitar techs anyway) you guys didn't mention are the dual action truss rods that give you greater control over the curve of the neck and the graphite nuts that come as standard. Nice touches that make the guitars easier to work on and more stable when you play them.
    Another nice touch that ALL bolt neck bodies should share, is the tight neck pocket. Again, its not something you notice while playing. You just realize one day that you never really have to tune up in the middle of a gig. A slight adjustment here or there but otherwise, they just play and play. It's because the neck doesn't shift around in the pocket. Yes the six screws hold it, but they don't have to work as hard because the fit of the wood is so tight. Reverend really makes some nice, high quality instruments.

    Was glad to see you do something with P90's. I love the P90 tone. Sure, they hum some, but that can be managed, and it's worth it for that tone. Now-a-days a lot of people assume they are 2nd rate, semi-obsolete pickups. No way. They are just different and sound great. Please do more with P90's.

    also that's the first time I've heard the Billy Corgan model. I'm not a fan of the design, but WOW does it sound great!

    I picked up a Jetstream 390 just like the one in the vide about 9 months ago. That bass contour makes the guitar super versatile, and it excels with clean chimey tones. I'm not a high distortion player like these guys typically are. It works well with my rather large pedalboard as well. It's become my #1 go to guitar over my Custom Shop '60 Les Paul RI or CS Tele. Amazing value for the money and a real pro level guitar. My soundguy loves it because it mixes so well, I play to about 5000-6000 people a week so that really matters to me.

    I believe it's actually a 6 bolt neck; the two smaller ones just go into the body, not through to the neck. They are there so if you remove the the neck those two hold the plate to the body.
    So it's 6 that go from the plate, through the body to the neck, and two that just go from plate to body.

    the reason for the 8 screws in the neck plate.......6 large screws are for the neck, the 2 smaller screws in the middle are to hold the plate on the guitar body when/if you remove the neck. Don't know why they did it.

    This is the first time in a long time you guys have demoed guitars that seem to actually sound different to me. Normally, it's all a variation of a common theme, but these feel fresh. Does that make sense? I want one.

    Got the coffee burst Sensei RA FM at 0.42 seconds a quality instrument love it...
    The Korina has a bright tone... Well done Lee & Chappers for the demo... Just for the record Rob .The Bass contour control.Gives you the capability to Gjent or sound like
    a Telecaster and anything in between... Food for thought dude... The Sensei was named after Joe Naylor's wife who is a 5th Dan Jujitsu Sensei, apparently..

    Regarding the Neck plate screws. The 6 outer bolts attach the neck. The middle 2 keep the neck plate attached to the body.

    There are 8 screws on the neck plate but only 6 bolt to the neck. The other 2 hold the plate to the body so if you take the neck off, the plate stays put.

    OK. That Sensei junior sounds really nice (actually the 3x p90 does, too) gets kind of a Leslie West tone at times,,,
    Hey... (unless you have done it already?) how's about a "Sounds like Leslie West/Mountain without breaking the bank" video?
    He had one of my favourite guitar sounds of all time, and i believe he was a one pickup guy, as well.
    Any seconders for this????

    As for the Bolt-on screws. They're actualy 6. The other 2 just hold the neckplate in place in case you have to remove the neck.
