Вставка
- Опубліковано 4 лют 2025
- Hi everyone! 😊
Today, we’re diving into one of our favorite projects: the crazy quilt! It’s been a while since we did one, and we know you’re going to love this fresh take, especially since we’ll be incorporating some of our new fabric designs for Lewis & Irene. 🧵🎨
In this video, we’ll take you through the process of blending vintage fabrics (some dating back to the 1980s!) with our newest designs to create a one-of-a-kind crazy quilt. Get ready to see how we transform an old duvet cover into a beautiful backing, and watch us match colors and patterns for that perfect “old look” vibe. 🎨✨
Arne will be on the sewing machine, while Carlos plays the role of master ironer! 💪😉
👉 What you’ll learn in this video:
How to choose and match fabrics for a crazy quilt
Incorporating vintage and new fabrics into a cohesive design
Tips for sewing and ironing small, intricate pieces
Creative ways to reuse old fabric and create something new!
💡 Tip: Don’t worry if you don’t have everything perfectly planned out-this project is all about “winging it” and letting the fabric pieces come together naturally!
Be sure to give us a 👍, subscribe for more quilting and creative fun, and check out our membership for exclusive content! 🧵💖

Man!😂 I wish I had someone sitting beside me ironing every thing!
😍😍
You two are funny. I can't imagine two people agreeing on which fabric to use when I, alone, can't decide. I'm enjoying your process.
Me too 🤩
The two of you are so sweet! Thank you for sharing your makes, beautiful!
Love your teamwork. You two are such a great example to the rest of us, so respectful of each other!
I think you two collaborate brilliantly, I could watch for hours. I have never been that interested in crazy quilting, but I think you are changing my mind!
Found it, y’all are so funny together. I enjoy you both so much. ❤❤❤❤
So fun to see you working so well collaboratively! Haha, room for a pony! We all need more rooms for our making! Thank you for showing that even you struggle with bobbin thread and threading the needle with less youthful eyesight!
Oh Arne and Carlos😂 I too am soooo good at starting projects, finishing them is a whole different matter.
You both have inspired me to finish two little dress WIP’s I have that just need me to add a bow. You both have made me so thrilled to also start a new project, crazy quilting.
Have fun crazy quilting!
You guys are so awesome! So grateful to find your channel. Thank you Kate from Last Homely House! 🥰
You're doing a great job! To make your older blocks blend with the new ones add one of the newer fabrics to each of the four blocks. The added thickness will be of no consequence.
Love watching you both. You make a great team.
Thank you!
I love the way you get along so well with each other.
Love how your new block works with the old blocks! Lovely indeed! ❤️
Very educational for those of us who haven’t crazy quilted before. And color choices, helpful there, too. Always fun to see it come together-Mary
Hi Arne and Carlos greetings from Ireland. I have just found you both again. I lost everyone for a while. You work so well together. I love all the different things you do. I might try the crazy quilting you make it look so easy. I love all the stuff yous get at thrift shops. Take care and please keep crafting.
I love the idea of sewing the swatches right to the other side. ❤
👍🏻👍🏻
I can’t wait to see how to sew all the pieces together. Another video please.❤
Love your crazy quilt blocks. You two work great together. ❤
Brilliant square, love the colors! I really enjoy these crazy quilt series...Thank you so much!!!
You are welcome!
I’m sewing my scrappy quilt by hand while listening to you two matching fabric. I just grab and go. So many ways to do things. All will be useful and pretty.
So much cooperation between you two. A great team. Love your new fabrics and the quilt.❤❤❤
Love your crazy quilting! More please. Fabric mixing, embroidery, etc. Beautiful. Thank you.
That turned out so pretty! Had no idea where you were going to end up with that, but I guess that’s the point!
So beautiful guys. Love this.🥰
Thank you!
The most beautiful and fun crazy quilt blocks I think I have ever seen! I had to keep stopping my fabric sorting task to check on our hosts, Arne and Carlos (as always).😃❤
😍😍
Love how you both work together. The crazy quilt is so fun and yours is very nice. Very interesting. I love it so far.😊
It's wonderful to watch the two of you working together! Love the quilt square you have made in this episode. I am reminded that creating can be experimental, relaxed and playful. Thank you!
Just lovely-- both you guys and the crazy quilt squares! 🩵 So enjoyable to watch-- Thank you!
Love stitch and flip!!
I just watched a video that you both made from several years ago…loved it and am really enjoying this one too. I also use a Janome sewing machine. I really enjoy the bantering that you both do during a video. Thank you for brightening my day. 🇨🇦
We are glad you liked it!
Just love watching you two collaborate! I can almost see the ideas bouncing back and forth between you like a dance. Such a relaxing rhythm and delightful way to spend an hour with two of my favorite people in the world.
❤️❤️
Oooo now I want to sit down at my sewing machine
We hope we inspired you!
@@ARNECARLOS you always do. Thank you so much
What a fun project!
Thank you!
I recently made a crazy quilt pillow - my first attempt at crazy quilting - with no instruction. I think its a hot mess but it was fun. I love watching you gentleman working and I love the idea of stitching the pieces on to a back piece. That seems so much easier.
Thank you,
Arlene Coleman
Fabulous tutorial!!!!
It's been so much fun knitting along. In December I will try some birds from one of your books. There are 10 total. Wow!
My wife is the knitters, I am not ,maybe someday yet watches your show with her and want to say love it you both great to watch
Fun, thanks. I really like the pink splashes.
What a great video!!!! So relaxing.ive been wanting to make a crazy quilt. Now I have an idea on how to do it. Thanks guys!❤
Hi Arne and Carlos I really enjoyed seeing your crazy quilt coming together! 😊Kaye
There is a green pattern in the old fabric. It looks complimentary to the green/sage fabric you designed. Perhaps it could be incorporated? As usual, so fun and a joy to watch you both in your element! ❤
So happy to see your new video. 🥰
Thank you!
These quilting videos are my favorite! ❤
Great job fellows! Funny how you talk about how much you love your Japanese scissors !
I just bought Kai 7000 series tailor shears (vanadium version) - and they are life changing exquisite! One cut and I threw out my rotary cutters which always got knocked up and expensive over time. Never going back!!!! Kai Kai always Kai!!! ❤😂🎉
Knicked up. Not knocked up- autocorrect to blame. 😅
Agreed! 😍😍
I love that the dolls get preferential choice of the fabrics. What fun a crazy quilt can be. Thanks for this video.
Thank you for watching!
So much fun to watch! Thank you!
Me ha encantado. Les sigo. Un gran saludo desde España. Me encanta coser. Cuídense.
Thank you for this episode. A perfect way to relax during a particularly stressful time in my life.
Thank you for watching!
Hi Arne and Carlos I really enjoyed your crazy quilt video so fun and creative. Thanks for sharing
Hi there, love the way you're crazy quilting. I'm not a quilter myself but I may try it someday. Love you both and like these video's a lot. Thanks guys, greetz from Holland. 👍💕
Quilts are so much fun to create. Endless creativety!
😍😍
Your crazy quilt process is quite interesting.
What a lovely time to spend with you as I was busy “frogging” a knitted item (not your pattern). Love seeing how the two of you work together so harmoniously. It will be a fabulous quilt. I’m anxious to get my hands on some of your fabrics.
Make sure you watch this Sunday for our special on the new fabric collection.
Happy Sunday! I think this is my favorite quilt. I enjoyed watching you choose the fabrics and sew your square, while I knitted away! 😂
Have a fabulous week! ❤❤🤗😘
pinecones and birds are my favorites! Hello from Alec and Ellie!
Thanks for the inspiration ❤ I really want to start blocks now
a little tip about threading a needle (that works for me) ; put a little piece of light-coloured paper behind the hole, so you can see the hole much better. I hope it can help Arne.
Thank you!
These are so much fun to make. Love your fabric swatches.
Thanks guys you make it look so easy , I wouldn’t have known where to start .
❤ You exemplify the essence of collaboration! Thank you for this! I now understand how sewing the pieces to a “backing” fabric makes it easy to create a block.😅 Your fabrics are luscious!
🧵✂️Happy Sunday! ❤
Panie (czy ktokolwiek;), daj mi takich sąsiadów, miłych, ciekawych, kreatywnych, inspirujących, niebanalnych...🤗🌿🌸🌿🙋
Dzięki, o wielki algorytmie, żeś mnie tu sprowadził 😘
I love seeing how a crazy quilt it sewn. Thank you. I may suggest that my Baby Lock Machine cuts the treads off at the fabric and threads its own needle! My older eyes have become pretty pampered.
Beautiful block…
I loved watching you two work together, you collaborate well!
I sew by myself, it would be nice to sew with a partner. Love your antique blocks!
Thank you Sue!
This was the inspiration I needed -- I was stuck on a t-shirt quilt with all different size images. This is how to blend them all. Thank you!
You are welcome!
Move over....LET ME SIT IN THE MIDDLE....picking out just the right fabric makes us all koko for a BEAUTIFULLY DONE CRAZY QUILT...you two are my favorite guys now, I can't wait to see the vanilla swirl on those blocks....will you use only vanilla thread or some strawberry themed ribbon as an embellishment....the three of us would be the Sweetest chocolate mess !!!! ❤ love your channel. I DO LOVE TRADITIONAL CRAZY QUILTS
The white fabric with the black diamond and yellow center matched to the black background with yellow daisies with yellow center - I see this done in "picture frame" around a single stitchery piece or print with a singular design = as a pillow! I want to jump in and start sewing, too! Great episode - really inspiring!
Ong I used to do this technique in the 80s. Love it. Just an idea use one of yr new fabrics to sew a little circle/triangle on top of original squares...helps bring them all together...I use this technique to make bags. 😊😊😊😊
👍🏻
Love love the crazy quilt!!! Hello from Tennessee!!! Yall have a wonderful week!!!
Love your colors ,you both are doing a great job…I have made many crazy quilts with the batting layer between the top and bottom, then joining the squares in quilt - as- you - go…Lots of you tube instructions …
Arne if you hold a small piece of white paper or card behind the needle on the machine it is much easier to see the eye and thread the needle. I have been using this technique since I heard about it and it really works
What a treat to see your creativity in action, I love your spontaneous decision making process !!!
Great video, you two are clearly designers, your ability to hold the colours in your head is impressive. By the way your video froze a few times near the end, the audio kept going. ❤❤❤ it was your overhead camera.
Thank you for letting us know, we have found out the issue and will post anew one withouth the frozen image soon.
Love your crazy quilt.
Beautiful 😊
Thank you for another wonderful episode. I can’t wait to see the next crazy quilt show.
Very nice 👍 ❤
👍❤
Very creative x
You Guys R hilarious!
❤grazie per il bellissimo tutorial 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤❤❤,bellissime le fantasie ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Such team work, easy camaraderie !
A pleasure to see!
Love the fabrics. Can this all be hand stitched as well ?!
Never made a quilt and am yearning to ..thought I’d keep it simple by hand sewing??? ❤xx
I love scrappy quilts, am making one now. Is that the Janome 740dc?
I love your squares & have made some myself. I wonder, how do you assemble them to make the final quilt?
We will do a follow up tutorial on that one day!
Such a wonderful, crazy quilt! Perhaps you could need the special iron that Kate has - which goes up for itselves when not needed....🥰
👍
Love this process! As you complete your quilt projects, what will be the process for quilting these quilts?
Yes, I love crazy quilting too! If you are worried that your new squares are too bright, you can always tea dye them.
Love crazy quilts!
Is your new fabric line available to purchase & where?
Thank you for sharing you creativity❤❤❤
I haven’t finished the entire video, so I apologize if this is covered later in the video. I’m curious how you do the decorative top stitch on the finished pieces. It looks hand-embroidered? I also love the new collection and am trying to find a way to get some of the birds here in the US! (I have a 3 week old granddaughter who needs a blanket in the green! 🧡)
Searching out scraps on EBay, got some beauts, Rock on Fellas I’m English refuse to say the Americanism Starts with G ends with Y.
Thank you for doing a crazy quilt program. Any quilting cruises or trips in your future?
Where can I purchase your fabrics in the US? Lovely!
Honestly, the ironing board isn't too small. I have a small one for smaller projects like quilting squares. I only use my full size for ironing fabric yardage and garments for the most part. Nice job on the squares.
Carlos! Everytime you reached across the ironing board I was so worried you would burn yourself. 😮
Thank you for the concern.
I want to do a fall quilt with some Halloween, leaves, and Thanksgiving theme items. I can see this working so well and being much easier with the improve instead of cutting and following patterns. I also want to do one for Christmas in fantastical Seuss Grinch pieces. I'm sure it would be as much fun. By the way, I'm still looking for your fabric in the states. If anyone knows a shop carrying it, please tag. I just love it. It's perfect for quilting!
That is a nice idea.
Glad to see it isn’t just me having problems with the video 😅
Yes, it is very strange! We will upload a new one as soon as we figure out what happened. ❤️
So, do you do the top stitch by hand or machine? Love the look of this and plan on making one. Thank You
❤
