@Jordy Lakiere, this game looks amazing, has already brought loads of entertainment from the UA-cam world (viewers and players alike). You should be immensely proud of your work! I think this type of video showing others your methods and how you designed the game to work (throwing, aiming, targeting etc) is a stroke of genius! Teach a man to fish and all that jazz 🍻 Can't wait to eventually buy a PC and play this. Will you do consoles at all? Multiplayer maybe? Wow!
i just bought the game and i really enjoy it. do you plan to add some kind of "special move" to different weapon classes or ranged weapons? like hooking shield with axes to disarm the enemy and stuff
Jordy I'm having some problems with blocking appropriately it seems when i try and change the block angle it doesn't work is there something wrong with my game?
I just bought your game yesterday lol it was fun but I suck at it 😂 I played till like 3am and went to sleep lol, will start a new run hope I don't suck hahaha
Just got this game Jordy and I'm pretty shit at combat...looking forward to learning more...but this game, this genre, and this kind of play is so needed in games today. You've made this yourself from the ground up as a labor of love and it shows. Thank you for making the game so many of us wanted to play. I hope you go hogwild with future updates.
I will say that I'm glad that I stuck with this game after my first 4 hours. During that time, like many others, I was struggling with my own capability and simply blaming it on the game being too 'janky' and inconsistent. I have since become much more efficient at aiming and timing attacks, reading enemies, handling and understanding the different types of weapons, and also understanding different features that are available like making bets, skipping matches, and trading gold/influence. Since my first 4 hours I've gone from only being able to make it through 1-4 matches before losing my character to now getting to 13-18. Performing well, on purpose as opposed to accidentally, feels great and makes me want to keep at it and keep improving my ability. Looking forward to seeing the game expanded upon!
@@GustavoBica Trading gold/influence can be done in the first tab in the Utility Menu. Basically you trade a certain amount of 1 for a lesser amount of the other, for example trade 1,000 Influence for 350 gold. This is useful if need one or the other in a pinch whether it be to purchase an item in the shop or if you're short on buying match skips or other influence related purchases. Betting can be done in the Battle Menu page. On the bottom right side of the screen you'll see the button that says, "Betting Show" just click that and you'll see multiple bets you can potentially make. For the bets you put 1,000 gold upfront for the chance to win the pay out if you're successful in completing the bet. Not all bets can be completed as they are not decided based on your matches, so choose them wisely. The option to skip matches is at the top of the Battle Menu screen. Where it says, "Scheduled Matches - Week X" it will display an influence cost to reroll all of your available matches. Just click reroll to do so. This is obviously useful if you find yourself faced with only matches you aren't confident you can win, or matches that you don't like the risk/rewards.
@@LakierosJordy Hey Jordy, is it possible to stop the spinning top on lion's roar arena after the victory. Most of the time, good loot are stuck under it, and it killed me one time😅 just so i can get the benefit from "spoils for the victor" I'm in love the game you made, thank you for your work😘

Thx man. Appreciate the in-depth tutorial about your game. You know a game has a good and dedicated dev when they make a tutorial on UA-cam explaining how to play their game. Also played for about two hours and I love it. Hope you are making your well-deserved money form this game.
I just got the game and was wondering why I wasn't doing as well, and after watching your combat tutorial, I improved over time. Jordy Lakiere, thank you so much for creating such an amazing game and tutorial. Please create more informative tutorials in the future.

Greatly appreciate this game as an indie developer myself. Played for 15~ hours before I was able to finally achieve glorious victory via retirement. Wishing you much success!

hey Jordy nice game i had blast playing it. Thank you for making this great game. I finished it all in just under 30 hours. Overhead slash is just too OP i abused it with every weapon.
Did my first few rounds today (even won 1) and i have to say it is amazing. You did an amazing Job. Looked this Video up because i had some trouble with throwing. I hope there will be some more misc content besides the fighting. For example preparing for your next run. Kinda like the passing down of 1 item. Or maybe the posibility to create a Gladiator guild to sink money and fame into. After seeing this video i realised the learning curve is quite high but things to unlock und such could be realy cool to keep the players engaged. I played soulstones survivors for quite a bit and it hooked me for hours trying to unlock as much as possible. Looking forward for Things to come! Keep going 🤍🤍
Great game! Combat system does take some getting used to but once it clicked I fell in love with it. It gives you so much precise control. More gear pls and thank you.
Just bought this game and it absolutely blows my mind that it's developed only by you. Massive respect, you're an inspiration to people like me that want to give this a go but feel insecure and afraid of doing it solo.
Ever since I heard about this game you were working on from friends at DAE I've been silently following and rooting for this project, I'm really glad to see it doing so well! It really is a fun game!
I love when passionate developers take time to interact and talk to the community, especially when its a one-man-team! Very good tutorial, made me understand the combat way more, would love another tutorial for the Utility menu aswell as mentioned in the video. Great work, looking forward to master this game! It always makes me sad when Jordius is disappointed in my performance, he (for obvious reasons) makes me think of you. And I don't want the developer disappointed in me. Great game, looking forward to seeing it continue to improve.
I picked this up after the last update and it’s awesome although I am quite bad at it. This video is by far the most helpful one I have seen about combat. I would be great to have more vids like this especially as new updates come up. Thank you!

Hi Dev, this brings back memories from the game Colloseum in PS2 which is one of my fav games all time! I wish one day i could play this game with controller for better handling (imo).. Good work!!❤
At first I took the hits, then I managed to survive and last I mastered the skill to become Ascended. Really loved the Journey. This video is Great if you want to avoid some hits!

So not gonna lie, left a neg review on steam because I feel that I spend more time battling the controls of this game than the enemies. This video has helped illuminate some areas I definitely have been mucking up. If my 20+ years of playing video games still struggles to pick up this game after watching this excellent explanation after another 10+ hours I'll just chalk it up to me being bad.
What a game, especially for only one person. Well done Bro, having big fun on this game - even paused elden ring to kill some gladiators ! Thanks a lot.
This was an amazing video! Really helped open my eyes to some of the weapons besides swords 😅 also the middle mouse button too was huge, I’m maybe 20 hours in and was still targeting with rebinds to be able to spam between targets in one v many’s 💀 so knowing I can just control it myself is a lifesaver!
Been loving the game, pacified for the first time last night as a Thrill Seeker Civ and there wasn't a dull moment. The combat system is so familiar yet complex and new, making mastering weapon types feel unbelievably satisfying. Cant praise the game enough the boul Jordy is just different
Im honestly really impressed with this game. A took a quick glance at it cuz of videos on my feed and kinda turned my nose up at it. Got it on a whim during the summer sale on steam and havent been able to put it down. I still really suck atm but i am thoroughly enjoying myself.
Amazing and inspiring game Jordy, Tthank you for all the hard work and pashion you have put in this game, you can tell how much thought you have put in to this game and this video is helpful. Thanks again.
Great game. Had a lot of fun! Gives a lot of possibilities and let's you kinda adjust difficulity lvl for yourself (starting as outlaw with dagger is kinda hard mode ^^). I also love that you imply that spears should be used with shield (both here and ingame) and I found that smacking enemies with spears held with two hands is also a great way to play cause of reach and velocity of the end of it! The more you know.
Thank you for the game man! I love it! The combat is hard, but once you get the feel of it ooooh boy is it fun! Me and my friends are having a blast! Im not saying you have to, but please make co-op. Much love and greetings! Wish you the best luck!
This game felt... weird to me picking it up, but addictive. I'm glad I found this video to sort of help me get a better hang of the fighting so I'm not flailing helplessly.
The criminal legacy is abit broken though. Once you hit the favor patron cap. You can sell all your fame and still get the legacy. i also hit the patron cap with one patron and got under 80 procent with another at the same time... still got the legacy. Just putting it out there if it helps. Freaking love your game btw. 30 hours in and having a blast!!! 2 more legacys to go. much love to you Jordidus and thanks for this GEM of a game!
Awesome game! I will say the flagella are OP right now, makes the game somewhat trivial if I spam flagella overhead attacks. Very fun, love to see how you add to it going forward!
Hey Jordy, great game. I was thinking, after the film Gladiator, with Russell Crowe, it'd be great if there was a game on Steam to play a gladiator. Lo and behold! Prayers answered. The combat system is great: it reminds me of War of the Roses, plus some Kingdom Come: Deliverance as well. Great job! Thanks for the game and this vid (I still haven't got the hang of throwing things, but hey....)
Have never played this game, just came across this by chance. The physics-based combat really reminds me of Jedi Outcast/Jedi Knight Academy's lightsaber combat, where factors such as where you hit and how much momentum you have affecting how much damage you deal.
hay you did a great job making that game i saw it and hade to buy it im have good 15h into it and love it. keep up the good work man take care for now.
Loving the game Jordy, would love to see higher tier one hand swords/weapons I seem to only ever find impressive ones. Also any plans of dual wielding small weapons like the hammer and small sword in the future? Not sure how it would even work, but had to ask since Spartacus and all haha.
Jordy! Love your game, its my new non-competitive main game. Just a suggestion: could you implement a damage counting system kind of like borderlands? I find myself smacking someone, looking to see how much dmg I did in the bottom left and getting my shit absolutely clapped while Im looking away. Loving the game regardless brotha 🤙🏾
Hey, just wanted to say, your game is an absolute thrill so far! I still need to understand the stamina still, but it’s been a blast so far. …Though, will say, I do dislike how the market usually recommends you items that are extremely expensive, or armors that have the same exact stats that the armor you have already.
Camera is too slow, but it helps give difficulty. Anyone who plays in gladiator difficulty should call the suicide hotline and seek help. So many good things and details in this game like anti-cheat autosave, sarcasm and polearms classified by how they are held and weight distribution etc... It's truly a passion project.
Excellent, would love one on the nuances of using the training and all the in-between UI. Also do you have a new video for combat in 3rd person? Would love your tips as most of the curser management you mention in this video is redundant in that. Also excellent game, this is the sort of game I'll just keep coming back to. Like Risk of Rain, Deadbolt, Slay the Spire, Dead Cells and Balatro. You've made an instant classic. PS man you can make some legendary DLC for this. Like lions, tigers, maybe chariots eventually. Also in Rome they used to do a reenactments of famous battles, this would make for some amazing fights.
UPDATE: It turns out I wasn't rusty, I discovered a bug in the throwing section of this video live haha - I thought it felt off!
There was an issue with momentum being killed a bit on throws, messing up my muscle memory. Fixed for patch 1.

Add the ability to lock the cursor to a certain range, so you can still move attack up and down but the cursor doesn't run away from you
I have to second this because I lose the cursor easily
I streamed this to my friends in discord and 6 of them bought it, this game is amazing.
Amazing and inspiring game Jordy,
Tthank you for all the hard work and pashion you have put in this game, you can tell how much thought you have put in to this game and this video is helpful.
Thanks again.
thank YOU!
Devman your actually insane thank you for such a great game
I’m buying this game! It has a block and stab which suits my play style as s huge fan of Roman combat tactics! Thanks for the video dev!
2 more legacys to go. much love to you Jordidus and thanks for this GEM of a game!
cant wait for more characters
I'd love a career tutorial!!
Best game in years! Thanks Jordy!
This will definetely help
watched this and the combat makes a lot more sense, love the game
I just played the demo, and it was amazing good job jordy.i hope I can play the full game,I think it will challenging in the high levels.
Jordy I gotta say I am pretty addicted to your game
That shield section was very helpful. I didnt know attack animations can raise shield
You could also use it to disarm, I discovered it accidentally by moving my block fast enough to remove the sword from an enemy, I was using a 2h axe
hay you did a great job making that game i saw it and hade to buy it im have good 15h into it and love it. keep up the good work man take care for now.
Thanks for this tutorial, it provided some helpful tacit information!
great job on everything. truly.
Loving the game Jordy, would love to see higher tier one hand swords/weapons I seem to only ever find impressive ones. Also any plans of dual wielding small weapons like the hammer and small sword in the future? Not sure how it would even work, but had to ask since Spartacus and all haha.
amazing game, cant stop playing. Great work!
Dope Game! I enjoy it and can't wait to see the final product.
Have you thought about expanding this into a gladiator management sim as one of the possible expansions?
Just bought the game. Loving it. Thanks a lot.
I just got this game yesterday and I’ve been having a blast. Is there a discord link anywhere? I could have sworn I saw one earlier.
Love the game and love the dev. Some good pointers there, even for advanced players.
One of the best combat systems I know.
I, for one, would love a career menu tutorial
Thank you for your game and passion.
I love to see cool unique games, just got out from playing cosmoteer a ton, buying this one rn
great video ive been super trash in combat but it seems there are some clear mechanics ive been doing wrong. big help thanks
Jordy!! You rule!
no YOU :D
Game is awesome dude I remember playing the beta a little while back .
Game is sick, great work
Finally bought it since I really loved the Gladiator series on the PS. Love the game! Hope it gets dual wielding and deck support as well!
