You can literally take almost any song from their first 6 albums and if not a classic then merely great music from the Gods of Heavy Metal. These guys could not get much radio airplay at all in the 70s when at their peak. They kinda scared the mainstream music industry with this heavy, new sound and haunting lyrics. Time has shown them to be amongst the very best bands to ever play music, period, not just Rock.
For more Sabbath greatness, try Wheels of Confusion, Sweet Leaf and the amazing deep blues, proto-metal jam from side 2 of their debut album, Black Sabbath, do the suite that goes Bit of Finger/Sleeping Village/Warning, this blew us away when it first came out, that whole album was shocking and intoxicating and ground breaking in ways modern audiences can only imagine but it is so nice to see all kinds of curious people wanting to know why people wear their t shirts all over the world. Enjoy! 🎵

SotU is one of many reasons why Ozzy is one of the greatest vocalists ever.
He lives, bleeds and feels every line he sings.

One of the many remarkable things about this song is that it was released in 1975! Sabbath deserve to be recognized as the fathers of all truly heavy music. And then there's that final transition to the light.... ,,\/, ,\/,,

A great and on target reaction as always, Randi! The symptom of the universe is a love that never dies. So the lyrics link the woman he loves to the universe in a dream created of a love song. This is another example of creative genius lead guitarist Tony Iommi (eye_OWE-me) falling out of bed one day and creating the beginnings of thrash as well as another genius riff and song. You astutely picked up on the amazing chemistry he had with bassist/lyricist Geezer Butler (who came up with the "boom-boom" part you liked so much). The guitar at the end when it turned into "island music" was a Spanish guitar with nylon strings. The drummer is the great Bill Ward.

This is the heaviest 1970s era Black Sabbath song. At least the first half of the song.

You can't imagine what this was in the context of its time -- unique and untouchable. They were in a class of their own. This was my absolute favorite album for a long time. Things starting going seriously south about this time and you can hear the turmoil woven into this work. IMO, it was their peak (not everyone will agree, of course)
Iommi had blues and jazz leanings and background, as you here in that last portion.
Yeah, the bass was sliding down, counter to the guitar part at that point earlier in the song.

Holy hell you listen to Black Sabbath. You didnt need to be anymore cool you know? Lol anyways Black Sabbath is my favorite band of all time, so i definitely got recommendations for days.
Definitely react to Megalomania. It's their longest song (a little less than 10 minutes), but its so good. Easy contender for their best song (there's so many good choices tho).
Another great one would be Hand of Doom

Tony's guitar tone is so good and heavy that when that guitar finally broke and stopped working even Tony couldn't get a guitar to sound like that ever again.

He still would occasionally still use the "old man" guitar (as he calls it) that he used on Master of Reality, which is an incredible sound.

@@mikeg.4211 Tony Iommi used his 65 Gibson SG aka the monkey on first 6 albums and tours. It wasn't until the technical ecstasy album and tour that he started using his custom John Diggins s g aka the old boy.
