Excellent painting in black color, it is not very easy to make such a realistic color. Special thanks for the recipes of colors that you use when coloring.
The Vallejo acrylic putty is great for ejector pins. Fill the holes, let it dry about thirty minutes, then wipe away the excess with a damp cotton swab. No sanding needed and easy to work with.
Thank you for information. I have that but I don't like use it on fixing level difference problems like this case. It's unstable and hard to rescribing on it. Tamiya White is overall the best putty I ever used. Also Mr. Dissolved Putty works like you descripted (Wiping with alcohol) I use Vallejo putty but rarely.
Awesome job!! 👍👍🙂🙂 I see there are 8 dislikes....how can ANYONE dislike this!?? Watching videos like this one has helped me to accelerate my modelling skills by light years!
The Vallejo putty is even better for those panel joints like the wings. Put the putty in, wipe away the excess and you’re done. No rescribing or riveting needed. I’ve struggled over the years with putty, that’s why I love the acrylic so much!
You have built some really nice models with the cowl modified in the open position, why not this kit.. So much good engine detail wasted. Would have looked fantastic. Needless to say your superb with your modeling and artistry. Salute!
yeah, ICM's kits has this particular feature, the extremely detailed engine and landing gear. I began their Ki-27, but it was very difficult this step.
Absolutely amazing work man. That's also one of the most wonderfully detailed kits in 1/72 I've yet seen. I have to check out ICM and see if they are doing other kits in that scale with similar levels of detail. The only thing that bothered me was seeing the painted crew go in without seeing any of the work you'd done on them. Surfacing technique was excellent, hell the whole thing was excellent and inspiring. Thanks for sharing this one. I'm now gonna have to see some of your other work too.
Absolutely brilliant done, and in my favourite scale! ;) I considered to build one of this Dornier planes from IBG, but after your video I'm not sure to do it - but maybe... ;) And great color result - first, I thought it is too bright, but finally looks great. All the best for You! ;)
Nice video - regarding the OWL set for the antennas - I bought same set for 1/48 and I checked. After the video I was afraid. But all of the bases were ok. So it seems faulty package. It is a pity and lots of extra work, but it looks great.
I am glad to hear yours is ok. Still I think they have to make proper packing for this set like Aires, Mini World, CMK. Hard plastic boxes would be great instead of soft nylon bags.
Fantastic build! Always a pleasure to watch your work... also.. you inspired me to do Water tge way you did with resin... i wanted to say thank you for that.. i was alredy reseraching but until your video something was missing and now because of you i can finaly try it.. thank you!
Hello, what an awesome build. Very exciting to watch. One question, why do you change the airbrush gun at the different process steps, cheap, evolution? Thanks
Another master build! Thank you for these videos, they have both helped and inspired. A couple questions if I may. After you use the soft pastels, do you put another coat of matte on? Also, after the wash with oils and zippo, do you use zippo to wipe off excess? As always thank you for the time answering my questions!
First off, thanks for the inspirational videos. I’m trying to pick up your mottling technique and had a question. When you're applying your super-thinned white on the base coat, how do you move your airbrush? Do you let it sit in one spot until you get a "dot"?
Excellent build. I'm building the recon version of this at the moment. I had lots of trouble getting the engines to fit flush with the wing and the wing to seat properly onto the fuselage. when I put the engines in the wing it pushed the wing surface down. Did you doing any preparation that we did see for these to items?
Thank you Greg! To be honest, I don't remember the build details. Probably yes, I always do dry fitting test with clippers and make modifications required.
Amazing work! Ugly and little sussesful as the Dornier Do 17 lineage was (Do 217 and Do 215), it still have a place in my heart... Really awesome! I will love to see a video of your entirely colection someday. It would be great! Cheers men!
Hey, I know that we see you do it in every video. But I was wondering if one day you could do an in-depth video focusing on your marbling technique, something with any little tips and tricks you use while doing it and all those little things. I know you have pretty much shown everything, but I know there are always those little things I do while working that I normally don't think about much. Because I still haven't seen another modeler who does marbling the same way you do, I've been trying to but haven't quite perfected it yet.
Hi, did you see my airbrush test video. I have used marbling technique on the test sheet and recorded close up. Here's the link ua-cam.com/video/xB0LxGzURhw/v-deo.html
amazing work. easily one of the best aircraft modelers out there with you subtle yet realistic weather and marbling technique. one thing I'm curious about: what color(s) do you use for engine exhausts? thank you in advance and once again, amazing work.
Superb work, could you let me know which size Uschi rigging line you used for this kit ?, thanks. PS. Are there alternatives to the Owl Antenna set.....were the Antennas that came with the kit poor ?
Thank you! It's the finest size selling for 1/72 scale. The kits antennas overscaled as expected. But would be ok if you use brass rods instead of antennas and keep arms.
I'm interested that you use IPA to do most of your paint thinning. I use Mr Color Levelling Thinner which I see you use for your varnish thinning only. What's your thinking on this? p.s. Very nice model by the way.
Thank you. I use Leveling thinner with only X-22 and all lacquer paints. IPA is cheap and odorless only. Not any other advantages over Leveling Thinner.
According to Google Translate. Yes I buy it in 1 liter bottles. It works on every conditions you asked. I don't know chemically similar versions. I use MEK (butanone).
Hey ! I will try it in english : I did it ! Today I received my first one-liter bottle of MEK ! And I tested it quickly : and it works very, very well in every condition, as you told me ! In comparision to that Tamiya-superquick-glue it works even better and quicker ! And that price ! I had to pay 12 Euro for that one liter bottle ! One little bottle of Tamiya-cement costs here around 7 - 8 Euro for 40ml !!! That means I got 25 times of that Tamiya-cement for only 12 Euro ! That was the best idea since I started modeling ! Again Thank You for that tip !!! - Love your videos - very informative, no bla bla but showing best practice - very instructive ! - Best wishes from cologne on rhine !
Nice job... looks like a nice kit.. I noticed you used Zippo fluid to make the oil wash.. is it better than using regular odorless thinner? And does any brand lighter fluid work, or does it have to Zippo? Thank you.
I just started doing models again after 20 years or so. I wondered the same thing. I seen a lot of recommendations for Iwata Neo. I picked one up for $60. I think it works great, but I am still new to this. I believe Scale-a-Ton also uses a cheap Iwata sometimes. Hope that helps.
Hi, I don't recommend airbrush. The proper airbrush depends your budget, skills and what will you do with it. But you can start with a AB-136 which is $15-$20 on market. You can learn to cleaning, maintenance your airbrush. This is a rule you will breake your first airbrushes tip or needle sooner or later. GSI Creos airbrushes are the best price/perormance for modeling though.
I think it's simple as seen in the video. The key is I use high quality oils, turpentine and Zippo fluid. Density and color tone depends on your subject's color.
First of all thanks for the feedback. My prefrence depends on the camera angle. I will keep that mind. I will build WW2 battleships later. I am still searching a proper material for rigging instead of flat PE parts. I hope this summer I will build one of them with some proper materials. The next will be a fantasy project building for another fantasy diorama: Hasegawa Lunadiver Stingray with engine, gun details. Cheers!
I Build a another Version from the Do 17, its von Revell but the Modell is ICM...The Plastic is russian low Quallitie! Clearparts = Top, Best i have seen, but the normal Parts = Crap, Bullshit! 20% from German Standart.
Excellent painting in black color, it is not very easy to make such a realistic color. Special thanks for the recipes of colors that you use when coloring.
Overall black aircraft models are the most difficult to paint accurately and convincing. This one is a masterpiece!
I love the fact you build things other than the latest and greatest Eduard or Tamiya.
your models never fail to astound me !!! no words for this ., i litrally have no words !!!!
I have just ordered this kit.....a BIG step up from my usual and so will come back to this when I get to building it. Very well done.
Watching yours and other's modelling videoas makes me want to get back into building models. Wish I had the time. Maybe when I'm retired.
Very nice. Two genres which underrepresented: Dorniers and Nightfighters. Great work.
All your extra effort really paid off. Beautiful 215! Congrats!
Everytime I watch one of your videos I learn something new. Love watching your air brush work
My favourite would be the part where you paint. Very neat and precise. I always make a mess when I paint. Love you build. Keep them coming :)
Wonderful stuff! I considered myself a decent modeller back in the day, but this is a higher level.
The Vallejo acrylic putty is great for ejector pins. Fill the holes, let it dry about thirty minutes, then wipe away the excess with a damp cotton swab. No sanding needed and easy to work with.
Oh, and it has no odor and doesn’t scar the plastic like Tamiya putties :)

I hope that in the future I'll be able to finish my model like your Dornier. Marvelous work !!! Especially painting !!!!!
Incredible work with marbling.
Another amazing piece of work......you are truly an artist and your products are inspiring.
Superb build and a fantastic paint job.
Another stunning piece of work. Thanks for sharing. So many good tips to try out on my bench!
Massively over-engineered kit, and the most difficult of all finished to pull-off. Superb modelling skills, sir.
Best from NZ.
The Vallejo putty is even better for those panel joints like the wings. Put the putty in, wipe away the excess and you’re done. No rescribing or riveting needed. I’ve struggled over the years with putty, that’s why I love the acrylic so much!

Thank you very much for your kind comments Richard.
I really love the helpful hints overlayed on the video, especially the paint/primer ratios and the airbrush pressure levels. Thank you!
Very nice video and Top work at the model - nice music too! Thank you and greets. Frank
Absolutely beautiful!
Very well done!
Awesome job!
Another fantastic model completed! This will help with a 1/72 Do17Z-7 i plan to start 😉
Brilliant, how did you get on?
yeah, ICM's kits has this particular feature, the extremely detailed engine and landing gear. I began their Ki-27, but it was very difficult this step.

that is really cool Model
Very nice job.
Nice work
Thank you very much. It is wow......!!!!!!!
I would love too see you paint with a brush only, not everyone has all the tools you have. Great videos
OO very nice vidéo.
very good work, I like this model and his "black" painting.
congratulations!
great job!!!!!

@@Scaleaton I think, that they will not solve it. From my visit on the webpages, they are not selling the sets anymore. Only decals.

Hello, what an awesome build. Very exciting to watch.
One question, why do you change the airbrush gun at the different process steps, cheap, evolution?

Perfect. Thanks
Nice job! Congrats! Where did you got the pilots?
Truly stunning work top job mate
Another master build! Thank you for these videos, they have both helped and inspired. A couple questions if I may. After you use the soft pastels, do you put another coat of matte on? Also, after the wash with oils and zippo, do you use zippo to wipe off excess? As always thank you for the time answering my questions!
Thank you very much. Yes I applied another coat on the pastels. No never tried yet. I prefer odorless turpentine for wiping the excess wash.
Nice, I always wondered how your marbling technique would look with black.
Super work as always !
Fan of the Dornier types.
best work
So you have not had any issues with MEK dissolving the brush in the Tamiya bottle?
Whats the first song? Great vid!
First off, thanks for the inspirational videos. I’m trying to pick up your mottling technique and had a question. When you're applying your super-thinned white on the base coat, how do you move your airbrush? Do you let it sit in one spot until you get a "dot"?
Thank you. No I draw zigzags with a very thin line. Dots occur where the lines intersect. That's what I can explain with my English :)
Scale-a-ton ah, so it's a very slight hand movement. I can barely see your hand move in the videos
Check my review video. Here's the link with time stamp ua-cam.com/video/xB0LxGzURhw/v-deo.html
And...... Subscribed!

I wish you build italeri 1:32 F-104 in metal finish
It's not on my list but the Hasegawa 1/48 F-104 is on!

Is it eligal for any plastic models such as German aircraft to have the swastica transfers.

Thank you very much! I use Gunze H460 Rotbraun for engine exhausts and apply weathering with extra soft pastels (black, brown, red brown etc.)
Sorry what airbrush did you use? Great build 😁
Очень круто! Подписка!
Hello!
That was unexpected! 🙂
I wonder how did you choose this particular kit...
Black is difficult but the result is very convincing. 👍

Thank you. It has better viscosity and cure faster than any thinner or spirit I ever used. I have no idea other brands.
I purchased a Junkers 188 and a T34/85 from ICM and I was not quite happy about the quality, perhaps both models was vintage, I'm not sure.
That was a lot of filler work you had to do on the fuselage, will most likely avoid this kit hahaha!! great build again!
Ranked first:🥇
You've done this before,I can tell...hehe...great job!!
I knew there was a reason that I became a Patreon member...
Can you build a Po 2 (1/72, ICM) (Soviet night bomber)?
It's not on my list but 2nd 1/72 model will be Special Hobby A-20B in Soviet Markings.
Okay, thank you for reply!
What is the fit?

Full agreement on rubber black. I never use black, just so out of scale
Ma usare i guanti in plastica, per non sporcarsi e non lasciare le impronte delle dita?, non costano una fortuna.
Just a comment
for the algorithm.
museum piece model. and with the swastikas, historically accurate.
