I organize my books by genre and I have a separate section of books for leveled readers. Students have the opportunity to book shop from both sections weekly.
I LOVE my books organized by genre. I have organized Alphabetically by title, by Fountas and Pinnell Levels (ABCDE...) I am posting a new video TODAY about organizing by genre. It's simple for me AND for the kids to keep straightened. A few years ago when I was going into a new grade after being in an administrative role I had my fourth graders assist me! It was great. I'd love to share!
I am beginning my 24th year of teaching and I am still learning so much! That's one of the best parts about teaching, every year we get new kids, new personalities, new backgrounds, etc. Creates new-ness every year! You're right, definitely a good way to teach organization! I just feel that since I have 3 different classes throughout the day, it'll be easier for me to organize their materials elsewhere so that they don't mix up or go through each other's stuff. I do have to say I'm a little biased towards tables since that's what I'm used to haha so this will be a new experience!

You can sort your books by interest but write the Lexie/AR level inside and ensure that the students are aware of their levels

Both! New school and new grade levels :)

That’s what desks are for...teach them to properly organize and save the planet from all of that plastic.
