You got this girl!!!! I was starting to feel overwhelmed because I realized we have trainings all week and then school starts. 😭 But my parents helped me move everything into the classroom and we set up some stuff tonight. I am sure it will all come together! Little progress is progress already! 💛 We got this!

I organize my books by genre and I have a separate section of books for leveled readers. Students have the opportunity to book shop from both sections weekly.

You can sort your books by interest but write the Lexie/AR level inside and ensure that the students are aware of their levels

I am a second year teacher and I absolutely get into my room and freeze! I feel like it is definitely best to just start. It can be so overwhelming 🙁

I LOVE my books organized by genre. I have organized Alphabetically by title, by Fountas and Pinnell Levels (ABCDE...) I am posting a new video TODAY about organizing by genre. It's simple for me AND for the kids to keep straightened. A few years ago when I was going into a new grade after being in an administrative role I had my fourth graders assist me! It was great. I'd love to share!

So happy to hear that because I just got finished with organizing all of my books by genre! :)

Did you switch schools or just grade levels?

    • @poppy9830

Both! New school and new grade levels :)

I would add to start a Roth IRA for retirement. Also consider 403b if the fees aren't too high. See my page for more tips for teachers.

I am beginning my 24th year of teaching and I am still learning so much! That's one of the best parts about teaching, every year we get new kids, new personalities, new backgrounds, etc. Creates new-ness every year! I currently teach future teachers at Utah Valley University and started my teaching tips channel 5 days ago! Check out my channel and see if there are some tips you could use!

That’s what desks are for...teach them to properly organize and save the planet from all of that plastic.

You're right, definitely a good way to teach organization! I just feel that since I have 3 different classes throughout the day, it'll be easier for me to organize their materials elsewhere so that they don't mix up or go through each other's stuff. I do have to say I'm a little biased towards tables since that's what I'm used to haha so this will be a new experience!
