In regards to attending the gay wedding, it actually is black and white: don’t attend. The Bible establishes that a Godly marriage is defined as a union between man and woman. Anything else is heresy. If your gay family member is offended because you won’t attend their blasphemous ceremony, that’s a them problem. As Christians, we are to obey the gospel, regardless of who it offends. God asked Abraham to sacrifice Isaac as a test of his faith. I think people can handle their gay family members being mad at them because they didn’t go along with their delusions.
Seems like a wisdom issue to me. See 1 Corinthians 8 about the meat sacrificed to idols. Jesus calls us to love first and foremost. Does that mean we should always go to the wedding? I don't think the Bible gives us a clear cut answer.
Believe the bible or don't believe, that's your choice, but don't say it says something it doesn't. Believe Jesus or call him a fraud again that's your choice but don't say he says something he doesn't. Be an atheist or be a Christian or a Jew, but be honest.
I love JHP and she brings a lot to this conversation! But, I disagree with her interpretation of scripture. She carries with her a theology of suffering and offense that is so deeply ingrained. Jesus wasn't going around offending those he carried the gospel to. He was offending the religious system of the day. The Sandhedrin. The one's who attempted to hold people to rules and critiqued them if they stepped out of line. She fails to recognize that God shows no partiality for sexual passion. Dealing with sexual passion for a straight person is no different than a gay person. The problem is the church upholds straight people, their passion, and provides a way out through marriage. Even with divorce and remarriage they make accommodation. The same is not afforded to gay people, all based upon ancient writers who were inspired of the Holy Spirit, but culturally bound and not aware that some people were exclusively attracted to the same sex.
You sure do have a different Bible because the Bible clearly spoke of them and it was because of their abominations that God destroyed the world and God also said they won't go to heaven along with adulterers and other sins inclusive. We are all sinners and are fighting temptation every day but when people try to make it lot like God accepts gays and that love is love then they really need to be preached too
