Yup it's true, Netta won because of televoting, but it doesnt mean that she is the best. She just had more fans than others but also a biggest amount of haters in this year. I absolutely adore this guy. A lot of people consider him rude and stuck up but he's just so pure and bluntly honest. To me that is quite the contrary from hypocrisy. He's just one 100% genuine guy!

In this interview, he said that, for him, Eurovision is full of songs without a meaning and that he dislikes the show. If that's being two-faced...

But Israel's song is not without meaning and that's what I kinda dislike about people like him. They often discard the whole ESC without even listening to the entries or without even trying to see if there is meaning.

I like him very much. He is very authentic, different, honest even if the majority are against him. I may disagree with him about which music is the real music, because I believe it's subjective, but I agree that Eurovision forgot that it was all about the song and not the show and cheap entertainment.
Also his smile is so warm and adorable. And he looks so much better, fuller and overall more healthy, which is so great. His song was a well deserved winner.

This guy is so authenthic and honest, you just have to respect him.
The thing is, he is a very real person, he's honest with himself he knows he doesn't like that kind of music and he's never going to say otherwise just to be friendly. And you know what? I appreciate people like this, people that don't care what others think of him or is not trying to appeal to anyone but just be themselves.
Luisa if you will read this I wish you good luck, your song "Para Ti" helped me survived when I was in hospital in october 2017, when i was scared and wait for giving birth my first child. My son was born finally 26th october :) I will always associate this wonderful song with the best Day of my Life.

I love this man for being honest, and for show his real opinion towards other songs. I would still vote for him if he come back to Eurovision again.

People must understand that if we can have our own opinion about songs that why he can't? Yeah he won and what? He is honest and this is why he ISN'T two-faced.
If you think he didn't influence the results in his country then you're dead wrong. Netta got 1 vote from the televote in Portugal. One of her lowest scores in the televote compared to all other countries. He is an icon and he shouldn't have done that before the GF. He should have made his comments afterwards. Also it made the award giving super awkward. Totally unnecessary and silly.

Israel did not only win - it won by a landslide. First in the Televote, third with the juries. You don't like European voting - leave Europe. But Europe has spoken loud and clear. She deserved this win.
Luis Ojeda Salvador deserved to win and Netta deserved to win. My point was just that Salvador should have waited until after the results to comment on the song. That’s all.
Asaf Lubin Netta won because hype around her song. It WASN'T the best performance last night. And her singing wasn't as good as in the semi final. Top 5 - okey but winner? Nah. It wasn't that. I don't know why jury ignored Italy. They voted on a such neutral countries like Sweden and Austria. It was like "You don't want to vote for country that you don't like? Or you don't have Russia in the final? Vote for Sweden and Austria! It's good strategy!".
just watched this now, years later, and i obviously had to laugh on that part where William asks if it will be awkward passing the trophy to someone with a "fast-food" song, and Salvador replies "it will be awkward if it's the girl from Israel" asdfghjklkjhg it's funny because it happened LMAOOOO

He is not any person, he is the previous winner of the contest and should have respect to the rest of the contestants and to the contest itself, and to all the genres that you can hear in it... He has no respect to any of that, so he is rude.

There seems to exist a serious misconception about what salvador said last year when he won Eurovision... he NEVER said anything about "hating pop". He did say that music should have content and meaning in order to be considered music, which i dont agree with because i believe music is very subjective to taste, but i respect his opinion. If what you heard him say was "all pop music is void of content" then thats your mistake.
PS - About the israel controversy... i read a lot of dumb stuff here on these comments so:
1 - no he didnt say those things to try and make her lose
2 - no hes not jealous of her success
3 - no hes not an egomaniac who thinks hes better than anyone else
People who say these things clearly have no idea who salvador actually is. He simply didnt like her song. And as always he was very honest about what he thought of it. People are not used to dealing with sincerety the way he is so they make up stupid explanations for why he did it. Do I think what he did was correct? Not really... but thats no reason to discredit his opinions on music
Spot on! He's just totally honest, and he's not talking others down to lift himself. He's even just as honest about his own abilities, as in for example his composing skills. He's totally clear about that he's no composer. I love this guy! :D

I'm so happy to see that he looks healthy. Last year when he retired, he honestly looked grey and unhappy. I'm so happy for him. He genuinely seems like a nice guy.
Salvador wasn't bullying Neta, he just said he didn't like the song and therefore it would be akward for him to give a trophy because of his given opinion about fast food music gosh, people are aloud i hope these days to have an opinion. I myself think Neta is a nice and smart woman after i watched press conference's and interviews, but i wasn't fancying thi year's winning song either, on the other hand it surely was entertaining.

Francisco P He could have said that he doesn't like some Eurovision songs because he prefers more sentimental and introspective songs. To me that would allow him to convey his opinion perfectly while remaining more respectful, than saying that he wants to speak about music with 'true content' and 'meaning', implying that every other song in Eurovision has no content whatsoever. Also, when asked about the israeli song, and especially considering that the song was still in competition, he could have avoided saying that it is horrible, he could simply say that he doesn't like it. Regarding the 'out of tune' comment, if you notice he brings it up out of nowhere; they ask him about the portuguese song and he says that almost all eurovision singers last year were out of tune. Nobody asked him, so he could have avoided that. I don't mind people stating their opinion, I am just stating that some opinions are expressed in rude ways while others are presented in more respectful ways. Of course, some people might not find him rude at all, I personally find him rude and pretentious. I guess there is no objective and universally accepted standard of rudeness. I hope I didn't dodge any of your questions :)
Evi m, you confused me. “Sentimental” and “introspective” are nowhere near the synonyms of “true content” and “meaning”. These are absolutely different topics (that people make statements about when they conceptualize music as musicians or as listeners): what is the true content of music, what’s the meaning etc. So what’s your point here? Did you mean that these topics should be avoided or is there something that I didn’t get about your proposed word choice?

I still think he deserved to win. Everyone's entitled to an opinion, even if it doesn't always jibe with yours (or Europe's, apparently).

Although Salvador espouses music that expresses feelings, perhaps it is because he is so shy about discussing his own condition/personal feelings? For example, discussing a 5 month stay in a hospital without ever mentioning his fears or emotions around the dangerousness of such a major surgery. Also, it was odd how that he often used "we" rather than I when speaking. This may be a way he can diffuse or cushion his intensity perhaps? He is certainly a fascinating guy; He comes off as a person who loves humankind, yet is a romantic loner. But he had been navigating a monstrously superficial world with profoundly artistic sensibilities and fragile health for so long! I hope he will continue to regain his health and live a long wonderul life interpreting songs for us. He is a true artist.

Intelligent, shrewd, witty. That's what I search for in a winner, and he so delivers it. He is so charismatic despite being a bit weird and he has this like capacity to transpose his ideas quite quickly. That s what I didn't find in Netta, despite her being nice and funny and somehow caring with the other contestants. Maybe it's just a matter of taste 🤷
