  • This is the final iteration of all the experimentation done in terms of both the set up of my new Sleishman Bubinga drum kit (13 piece), and the associated microphone set up in order to record the drums.
I have spent nearly five months to get to this point with many set up experiments and test recordings in order to come to a conclusion regarding a working model, for both the drum kit set up to facilitate open handed circular motion playing, and achieving the best outcome in creating the kind of sound I am looking to capture via recording the drums and therefore the microphone set up I have decided on, to create the result I am looking for.
I forgot to mention in the video the mics I am using on the bass drum, these are two Audix D6's and one Earthworks Dm6. I also did not go into the details of all the different possible stickings and applications and patterns, that can be applied using the two rhythmic methodologies I briefly touched on in the video, and how these can be applied using the circular open handed motions that are facilitated by this kind of set up.
These will be the subject matter in a whole series of tutorial videos once I have established a more professional video recording environment and have a template set up for the audio recording in my new DAW Studio One. Up to this point all my test recordings have been to two SD cards in my Behringer Wing mixer. Thanks for taking the time, hope you enjoyed it and thanks for your understanding in not meeting a high level professional standard in the production of this video.
