We've burnt wood for years for supplement heat in a buck insert, but it's in our den and pretty closed off from the rest of our house. We just had an 8" stainless steel chimney installed and I'm building a brick hearth to set our fisher grandpa bear stove on. Its gonna be in our living room so itll be able to heat our entire house. I'll be glad to not be giving my power company an extra $300 a month from October through march.
Use some newspaper or crumpled up junk mail to get your initial fire going. You will grow old waiting for your fire to start at the rate you are going.
Excellent American made stove! 🇺🇸
I have this Grandpa and an XL in my newer shop, just not installed yet.

I had nothing better to do at the time.
