John, wow love it. So true to the real arcade. Love the background arcade noise in your basement. Pole position, frogged, dragons lair. I was 14 at northland mall Aladdin’s castle for a few minutes. Love it. These younger guys just don’t understand. Lol so awesome.
Hey John I’m an up and comer here on UA-cam, you have inspired me to collect and restore arcades. My first project (recorded on UA-cam that is) I’m doing a Tutankham restoration got my video up hopefully everyone can watch my progression. Thanks for everything you’ve taught me so far I think you’re a great asset to the gaming community.
Hi John, I love the way you take safety first and strap the centipede in the car. Good review and nice to hear another one of your killscreens song as the soundtrack. Keep up the good work. Thanks
Strapping it in was a nice touch but my heart leapt at 14:43 when it almost got knocked off the table - great catch there, I don't think even Future John could have saved that if you'd missed.
For Halloween, John should make a fake graveyard of his gone and removed games that are no longer in the basement and each one with a clever epitaph. Turbo: Lost it’s steering wheel! What an ordeal! Time Pilot: It’s time in the basement flied too quickly. Qix: The simple Qix left the basement to bring in new games with a unique mix. Popeye: Sea you later captain! . Punch-Out!!: Was given the killing K.O. punch to the screen, but has now revived from the dead at Jays: bigger badder and more violently mean. Super Break Out: *Im not dead guys! :D I’m just busy working at Johns office!* Domino Man: His quick toppling depart from the basement didn’t help him forget his troubling start, as he began as a outhouse for mice to take a nasty shart. Star Wars: The force will always be with you even if you are far away with Jay. Moon Patrol: Your mission for the basement has now been accomplished! Whirlwind: The only severe storm we ever loved has now ended. Simpson’s Pinball Party: Doh! Why did it have to go! Asteroids Deluxe: An Atari classic that brought a smile to our face. But now has finally blasted off, into heavenly outer space. While it is so sad to see it go away, but it will be in our hearts in a permanent special place. Black Knight: The Black Knight once fought other pinball machines both left and right, it’s black shiny armor quickly faded out of sight. Toobin’: It floating away did not wash away our sorrows.
Hey John!! Just discovered your channel last night. Love it!! You would Love The Recbar in Jeffersontown (J-town) Louisville, Ky!! It's a bar/restaurant/arcade/pinball. It opened in April of 2016. I haven't been there yet but I hear its great! It's said they have the 4th largest pinball bar collection in the country! Keep havin' fun!! Much Love from the Bluegrass State!!
John's Arcade Game Reviews & Tech think the hardest part is going to be Finding an orginal monitor or getting the sound/video converter and donor monitor to work with all the other repro parts lol
It seems to have a slight bit of audio lag, but then again, the Arcade1up machines (Atari cabinets, as well as Rampage from what I've seen) have it as well, probably the same emulation (MAME). How's the video scaling? Is it consistent size in all directions? (Minimal or heavy distortion is size of things based on resolution.)
We truly are living in the era of the revived arcade. These mini units are coming out, all over the place. This is an amazing luxury item, indeed. However, I've got to wonder for luxury items how this one is going to stand up to the Arcade1Up 4 foot model that is about to be released in just a few days. (Whom does include Millipede.) Granted, there is no coin door on the thing. But, you get four games for (either) $300. (Or $400. Waiting to see which price winds up being true.) Of course, if one doesn't have the home space for a small arcade, this one definitely fits the bill. The micro quarters are a strange thing, indeed. Definitely a hard thing to keep from losing. I suppose like the guys over at IGN were showing, this mini works great as a conversation piece with a scale model action figure at the controls. And I don't think working slots would have been too hard. Coin devices would probably jam too easily. Though, I could see a tiny electric eye that watches an internal LED as a good round-a-bout to this while the coin could have dropped into that internal coin bucket.
Pretty sure the $300 price point was for pre-orders. Maybe $400 after it hits the market officially? Either way, still quite a bit "bang for the buck" better than this lovely gadget that looks great but costs WAY TOO MUCH.
For 1/6 collectors this is a must buy and those usually cost 150-1500 depending if it´s display or just one figure or item. I don´t think many 1up buyers would even consider something like this. Same way arcade enthusiasts would ever consider 1up over real cabinet.
I think the mini quarters maybe were for the “got next”effect 😆. Put them on the control panel for display. Not a Centipede fan but would be interested in buying one of a different game. They did a great job and really like the lighting/detail.
the shots of the replicade cenitpede strapped in as you drove out to the hangar, LOL! I imagine they prolly had to make some concessions on the sideart to compensate for the taller monitor (since it's not full-size) Seems really cool! Though I think for double that price, you could get the 1UP Arcade version and that also has milipede and missile command! (but then I don't already have a basement arcade so that's just me. :P)
hi, do you know where i could find an empty arcade cabinet without any sort of hardware inside? im currently working on a project to make a custom arcade machine with a raspberry pi and mame.
I'm building a 1/4 scale Dig Dug multicade. It won't be exact, as I can't find lighted, Atari cone start buttons; but it will be close. I'll send John pics when I'm done.
How do you figure it's only emulation using the original ROMs instead of a miniaturized version of the circuitry that holds the original code (an ASIC or SoC, maybe)?
They should make a Atari Thunder Jaws portable. I was playing it in MAME today. Bring back Atari before they are lost. Game was one of Atari's last in 1990. Love to see one in John's arcade. Seems rare, don't hear of it much.
This mini arcade is cool and i can really appreciate the detail and all but for 160 bucks it's definitely a pass for me. Thanks for the video john and keep up the great work.
John, I am sure you need glasses... look at your CABARET bezel and Replicade bezel ?? Plus I can see the shots very clearly, even if the camera was not fully focus ....
I was thinking the same thing. When he was at the cabaret I was like, isn't that identical almost to the way the mini looks? So they must have compromised to use the larger LCD screen by blending it with the cabaret.
Back in 1982 those cheap plastic coleco tabletop games where $50-$60. Not many kids had them. There was a full size Atari centipede at the thrift store a few years ago. It was in very good condition, they were asking $400. Somebody likely snagged it a few days later on half price day.
As someone who already owns an upright centipede (that I'm unfortunately having to move into a new cabinet, but that's what you get when you buy a water damaged cab for under $300) I cant justify buying this, but maybe Ill instead spend the money getting a new crt so my original doesn't have to use the lcd I have in it now (because the old crt was burnt in too horribly, but once again, that's what you get when you buy a water damaged cab that's had over 130,000 plays on it).
Wow... this would be sooo awesome to have on my desk at the office to have some fun beating highscore with at coffe breaks and during lunchtime... It costs way to much though since the pricing on that kind of stuff always goes up $100 in Sweden... if it was like $75 or something I would buy one instantly.
When I first saw you open the box the price point I had in my head was $99. I was a little floored when you said $160. When an Arcade1up is $299 I would absolutely pass by this and pay the higher price for the Arcade1up. But good video as always
Glad I got it on Kickstarter because I got 2 (one for my dad) for 200 which, yeah, 100 seems the right price. I'm curious to see what they do after Tempest (which I didn't back because without a vector monitor that game loses a lot of it's charm)...
do you know if you can get a USB adaptor and plug a controller or mouse in and operating the trackball and buttons would have been a good idea. it's a bit awkward to play like it is long used I can imagine
Unlike the Arcade1Up, this has a light up marquee and was made with precision and quality in mind. The Arcade1Up isn't even 4 feet tall and I think is made of particle board. Good luck playing that without the extra $50 booster. Which would you rather have? A cheaply made 3/4 scale cabinet? Or a precise, quality made 1/6 cabinet? As someone who actually grew up playing the original Centipede in the arcade, I'm truly excited about this Replicade one. It really is a childhood dream come true. $160 is a little high but I was able to get one with 15% off when I ordered a week ago. I'm really sick of the cheap retro knockoffs and crazy happy about this replica.
The wobbly piece of junk? No one would notice the wobbling if that was gone...and especially so with it in pieces...and you need the space on the table.
If it was cheaper id grab it, more like $50 or $60 max I'd buy it. I have my $20 centipede from walmart and I'm just fine with it. Arcade Collector here with 9 Arcade machines. Not much but enough. How many of these are they coming out with?
I do like it, but to me it's only worth about 1/3-1/4 of that price ($160). My Nintendo 3DS, with all its still-relatively-new technology (less than a decade old) was the $160.
John's Arcade Game Reviews & Tech what a bummer!! They say those are original rom as well. I hope they send you one, although they did push back the release date because demand was so high.. Keep up the great work!!👍
Apparently, according to some recent reviews, seems you're not missing much :=)) ua-cam.com/video/8JWrqkCkN18/v-deo.html Far from being an accurate replica and the attention to finishing details really leaves to be desired :=(… A custom bartop can be made for half the price of that unit and has tons of possibilities (+ not limited to 3 games only)
Oops, the little Centipede isn't a "fake" one as compared to the big, "real" one. They're both real because they both work. Just because something's smaller than the original (such as your cabaret or a cocktail) doesn't mean it's "not real."
21:00 Alright then make it work now.. It will be a pretty cool video if you can pull it off. You'd need to cut the hole and have a wire or two pieces of metal to make contact to the button switch when you insert the coin in. Or you can build a 1/6 coin slot device and a 1/6 drawer and a 1/6 stool. ^_^
Oops, the original and the small version wouldn't be 1:1; they'd be some kind of scale other than that, if they are to scale (like if everything matches that ratio).
Call me crazy, but the mini looked better than the full sized when he played. Looks blurry, maybe the camera is just being bad or not the greatest monitor.
That was cute have a baby centipede cabinet in the seat belt. It would have funner if it was in a baby car seat as well. But a 160,00 a a little steep An extra 150,00 i can get a 1UP Cabaret replica that has centipede millipede and a another game I can't remember. And there's another cabinet as galaxian and Galaga. And one that has asteroids lunar lander and Tempest. And there starting to do the pre orders at GameStop Target and Walmart.
John, wow love it. So true to the real arcade. Love the background arcade noise in your basement. Pole position, frogged, dragons lair. I was 14 at northland mall Aladdin’s castle for a few minutes. Love it. These younger guys just don’t understand. Lol so awesome.
Great episode John! Love the packaging for the Centipede Replicade!
I don't think you mentioned it but the bezel art on the mini was pretty much the bezel art from the cabaret.
21:45 a lot of love did not go into making that popcorn maker.
Thanks John for this awesome video Monday morning, it makes Monday more bearable
Did anyone notice that the bezel artwork is more comparable to John's cabaret cabinet?
Hey John I’m an up and comer here on UA-cam, you have inspired me to collect and restore arcades. My first project (recorded on UA-cam that is) I’m doing a Tutankham restoration got my video up hopefully everyone can watch my progression. Thanks for everything you’ve taught me so far I think you’re a great asset to the gaming community.
Awesome! Looks like a great project.
The Centipede sitting in the passenger seat with the seatbelt on made me laugh. Very cute little machine. And as always good video John.
Holy crap... UA-cam finally showed your video on my subscription feed. I haven't seen your videos on my sub feed for over 6 months it seems.
:D I’m just busy working at Johns office!*
Domino Man: His quick toppling depart from the basement didn’t help him forget his troubling start, as he began as a outhouse for mice to take a nasty shart.
I love that you buckled the replicade, lol. That's something I've done with retro video game finds.
"THIS IS THE ONE WE'RE GIVING AWAY" slams sweaty hand down onto collector's box, crushing it
Sweat included if you win. :)
Love that mini centipede was buckled in for the ride home. Bonus kickstarter item should be a mini hand truck or dolly to roll it around. :D
14:44 I flinched to catch it😂 great seeing more vids John👍
Even Arcade impossible putting up more vids then john these days...

John you always finding the good stuff.. Ill take one..
My buddy and I stopped into the Hanger when we passed through Amherst yesterday(16th) on our way home from picking up a wide body Mario Cabinet XD
Nice! Congrats on the pick up! LOVE THAT GAME!
John's Arcade Game Reviews & Tech sadly just the cab but it will be a fun restore!
Awesome! Luckily all that art has been repro'd (I think). The cab is the hard part.
John's Arcade Game Reviews & Tech think the hardest part is going to be Finding an orginal monitor or getting the sound/video converter and donor monitor to work with all the other repro parts lol
e-mail me. john @ johnsarcade.com
I got my entry in :) these look wonderful

I'd love to see you review the Tempest one!
Just picked this up for the nostalgia of it. Got mine for $100 shipped. Hopefully we see a Zaxxon, Donkey Kong and a Star Wars game would be awesome!

I think that centipede is so cool. I hope they make different games as well and I hope they drop the price a little bit.
This is amazing tho, loved the little cab

I like that synthpop song a lot.
I think it's worth about 50-75 dollars. 160.00 is kinda crazy.

That is awesome john love it
Thank you for another awesome video😎
Happy I found this channel!
Thanks, glad you made it
That's cute! Ty for the video John.
Safety first. Got a kick out of seat belt on game!!
So the little trackball doesn't let you just spin it and let go to make it move?
That would have been epic if they were 1/6 scale quarters from 1981! Still though, what a great attention to detail!
hi, do you know where i could find an empty arcade cabinet without any sort of hardware inside? im currently working on a project to make a custom arcade machine with a raspberry pi and mame.
You should autograph and give away the popcorn machine.
John that popcorn machine has got to go!!!
John?
Where you disapear?
What about the bronco?
The show must go on
Signed up.. Fingers crossed.. Great Vid Thanks....
I Can Imagine This Little Arcade Machine Being A TOP Seller in The Early 1980's
it would have Beaten All Other Table Top Games.
It would had cost a lot more too...
John, isn't it time to do a Galaga restoration after the MK2 is done?
They should make a Atari Thunder Jaws portable. I was playing it in MAME today. Bring back Atari before they are lost. Game was one of Atari's last in 1990. Love to see one in John's arcade. Seems rare, don't hear of it much.
Hope they get the Namco licence. Would love a Galaga or Mrs. Pac-man one!
Cool little machine ;)
This mini arcade is cool and i can really appreciate the detail and all but for 160 bucks it's definitely a pass for me. Thanks for the video john and keep up the great work.
Nice! Hopefully arcade1up will get you their arcade for that review soon also.
Not sure if it's happening now. No news on when it will be sent.
@@Johnsarcade that's a shame. Their PR is screwing up.
They said they would send end of Aug, early Sept. Not sure what's happening.
Why don't you still have your old mini-DKJ then?
John, I am sure you need glasses... look at your CABARET bezel and Replicade bezel ?? Plus I can see the shots very clearly, even if the camera was not fully focus ....
Yeah, I noticed the cabaret bezel similarities when editing the video. Maybe I should have had future John come in and comment. lol.

That thing is pretty damn cool but wow what a steep price.
Did anyone else notice the bezel matches the cabaret cabinet?
3:15, is that a new Killscreens track??
Yes. :)
Hope they make the Atari Star Wars 👍
A small scale multi axis yoke controller , would that be playable given the way its griped with the hands ?
do you know if you can get a USB adaptor and plug a controller or mouse in and operating the trackball and buttons would have been a good idea. it's a bit awkward to play like it is long used I can imagine

I could hear Dragon's Lair beckoning.
Centipede is so addicting.
Made the bezel after the cabaret not the full size if you noticed
Great vid, i just ordered one, only 5,000 made
I really like these but I just can't spend that much for one. I could probably find a full size cab for that. Non working of course.
You could for sure if you look enough. :)
Why do you still have that smashed popcorn machine ?
That's my co-host.
3:54 OMG,THEY HAVE THE SIMPSONS ARCADE GAME!!! I MUST GO!!!
How about adding Marble Madness to that machine?
Entered hope it's open to the UK.
Yes, I'll ship it wherever.
I do like it, but to me it's only worth about 1/3-1/4 of that price ($160). My Nintendo 3DS, with all its still-relatively-new technology (less than a decade old) was the $160.
That little cabinet should really have been in a child’s booster seat in your car. Safety first 👍
Hey John, when is your Arcade 1up review going live?
I am not sure if that's happening now. Been waiting for them to send.
John's Arcade Game Reviews & Tech what a bummer!! They say those are original rom as well. I hope they send you one, although they did push back the release date because demand was so high.. Keep up the great work!!👍
Apparently, according to some recent reviews, seems you're not missing much :=))
ua-cam.com/video/8JWrqkCkN18/v-deo.html
Far from being an accurate replica and the attention to finishing details really leaves to be desired :=(… A custom bartop can be made for half the price of that unit and has tons of possibilities (+ not limited to 3 games only)
Of course that trackball feels like a trackball and the game felt like Centipede; that's because it _is_ a trackball and it _is_ Centipede.
Hey John I need help with my pac man game, I tried joining your forums but still waiting on admin approval
The quarters need to be lined up on the bezel!
Would rather have a full size cabinet.. looks like you could spare a few.
The bezel matches the cabaret so that is legit 1.1
Cool ill wait for the price to go down or if it hackable for other games :)
It's pretty sweet.
Stashbox is that where you hide your weed?
Pretty cool, though it feels more like a $75 toy. $160 is steep. However, would look badass in the game room 🤘
Who won?
Maybe you put the quarters on the Marquee letting everybody know you have next game.
If they make a PAC-MAN one, I'm getting this!
there is a 1/4 scale NAMCO pac-man for $200 : www.numskull.co.uk/pac-man-quarter-size-arcade-cabinet/
Call me crazy, but the mini looked better than the full sized when he played. Looks blurry, maybe the camera is just being bad or not the greatest monitor.
That was cute have a baby centipede cabinet in the seat belt.
It would have funner if it was in a baby car seat as well.
But a 160,00 a a little steep
An extra 150,00 i can get a 1UP Cabaret replica that has centipede millipede and a another game I can't remember.
And there's another cabinet as galaxian and Galaga.
And one that has asteroids lunar lander and Tempest.
And there starting to do the pre orders at GameStop Target and Walmart.
Did I win it yet? The winner email must have stuck in the spam filters.... :)
That popcorn maker needs to be tossed in the trash John. It has seen better days. :)
mokthemagicman no that's his next restoration job
He needs a hat rack to hold a devo hat instead.😁
I think we all need to chip in and send him a new popcorn maker. It's so sad looking.
Love it.
Awesome!
