This was a quirk all the way up to the 6.4 trucks. 6.7s don’t really have this issue as they feature a much improved steering box and pump. But at the same time its a built in safeguard in my opinion because brake applied steering at a stop is very very hard on the frame and its not uncommon to find cracking by the steering box and popped rivets at the engine cradle (the only cross member at the front) because the front frame section is very flimsy.
