Only got back from san Diego last Friday...we drove from san Francisco airport with stays at carmel (beautiful) san luis abispo, and santa Barbara.....with stops in-between.... brilliant it was too..... only disappointment was we couldn't drive big sur due to landslides.....gutted, as i was wanting to drive over Bixby bridge....but the holiday itself was amazing, including Chicago where it all began....❤❤ Thanks America
@user-jw9lq5ib6g it was blocked off at least 40mls away... I drove to the very last road closed sign and was told it was approximately 40 mile drive by a construction worker who was stopping traffic from going any further....gutted as it was a once in a lifetime trip.
@@shawnmahoney4441 the coachman's inn in Carmel was great and every day at reception/breakfast area.... Complimentary wine & cheese & coffee.... Homemade cakes too

How to get to coastal highway 1 from LA.. last time i visited LA and drove to San Francisco.. thinking i will hit the coastal highway 1 but i dint know which highway my gps took where i never foujd hgh way and reached SFO.. by another hghway.. pls guide
PCH is the last optuion GPS will give as it realistically takes 2 days. You can drive to Santa Monica pier and drive up following the signs of HWY 1. Or use the GPS to get to San Luis Obisbo / Moro Bay and follow signs up HWY 1 which is the most scenic part of the highway
In Monterey is the start of the 17 mile drive. Takes you through Pebble Beach and into Carmel. TOTALLY worth the drive.
