30 years ago, I left 10 miles west of Friday Harbor on San Juan Island. I never regretted it. It was pretty on the Island, but California moved to our area and we got too many controls. And we didn't have to wait all that time for a ferry. And then, getting off the ferry in Anacortes we could then drive 75 miles to Seattle on I-5. What a nightmare. I miss the ocean, but where I now live in Idaho, I am 6 miles from one of Idaho's largest rivers and the deepest canyon in North America is in our county plus mountains over 9000 feet, four seasons and a good climate. I live 50 miles from a 56-mile long reservoir backed up by the third highest Dam in the U.S. If I want to shop at Costco, I do have to drive 75 miles to Clarkston, Washington, next to 35000-population in Lewiston, Idaho. And every day a deer family comes near my front door waiting for me to feed apples to then.
We are leaving socal and building in star. Leaving our grown kids but hope maybe they will join us some day. Its a leap of faith but its time to go. We plan on helping keep idaho red!
@@livinginidaho we have never had a new home let alone a semi custom so this is going to be special. We looked for several years all over the west. From montana to arizona. Boise checked all the boxes. Im looking forward to a 60ft rv garage too haha
I grew up in Boise and miss it very much. I think im going to be moving back home from Seattle, interesting video, definitely applies to where I’m at in life.
I was born in Seattle, raised on Mercer Island, which is fantastic, left, lived in S.F. before it went south, then Nevada( northern).Moved back to Bellevue three years ago.I never go to Seattle, ever. My area is fine, however,I'm considering moving again.
Another good video! I like the idea of an RV garage. It seems going from a 3 car garage to that 3rd bay being a RV bay is not a ton different in price. I wonder what that cost difference on average is. Certainly would depend on the length. Tightlines!
Thanks. Yes, lots of homes in the Eagle area with 3 car a garages. Perfect to park your fishing raft. Here is a film you may enjoy. I took my father fishing on the stahikin river in Washington for his birthday this year. ua-cam.com/video/R5z1VQGuXsU/v-deo.htmlsi=7IMFZ2JIMe-zSf4w
@@livinginidaho just came back to Canada from Vegas. My friends moved to Boise from Vegas 3 yrs ago and they say the same things. They love their life there
It's sad. I grew up in Puyallup and really loved Seattle. My brother-in-law still lives there in West Seattle. He has had his catalytic converter stolen twice and a friend's struck stolen from his house. It's sad to see what has happened over time there.
Seattle is awesome. The only knock is that it’s so expensive! But if you live like 20 minutes out to say a place like Federal Way or Lynwood the prices drop pretty well. People who move to Idaho probably just want to move around more Conservative people & pay less taxes. Oh & be surrounded by more white people 😂
It’s interesting because my husband and I have been talking about doing the opposite. We were both born and raised in Boise and looking for a change, and we really love Seattle, Washington. Interesting to hear her input but I wonder if it’s better now that Covid has settled down?
It doesn’t mean anything….your values go with you and it’s good bye Idaho. Just the fact that you can’t start over without people watching you on vid says everything. You can take the folks outta the city….but..
This lady must have been traumatized during her Seattle experience. But unless she lived on 3rd & Pike/Pine or lived right off Aurora Ave or 12th & Jackson, I seriously doubt her Seattle experience was that bad. 95% of Seattle neighborhoods are safe, on a hill, & barely have violent crime. I understand that Seattle can be hellllla expensive but if you literally move like 30 min out to say Federal Way or Kent or Lynwood you would pay way less & still reap the benefits of Western WA living. The economy, the close access to National Parks & hiking, the ferries & island hopping, a couple hours drive to the Pacific Ocean & rainforests, the close access to BC & Canada, the high paying jobs, the diversity of food & cultures, the inclusive laws that protect LGBTQIA people, legal Marijuana, Pro & College Sports teams, moderate, not extreme seasons, the list goes on. To give that up for Idaho…is wild to me. But hey, some people like living in the middle of nowhere with no water but a lake/river nearby with little diversity & that’s OK. And hey…at least the taxes are cheaper 😂
@@pacoserpico hahaha, I was trying to give Idaho some benefit of the doubt. It was the only positive thing I could think of for that state, besides them having better potatoes than WA. Oh well. 😂
I'm not a conservative and will probably vote democrat in 2024 and I live in Idaho. I don't care if people like dems. Conservatives are even worse than democrats and I'm libertarian. But the extreme right-wingers are mostly in North Idaho. Where I live, you don't see people walking around with assault rifles. It's pretty normal.
Wait…this lady’s primary problem with Seattle is that someone asked her to wear a mask during the height of Covid?? Yeah…bub-bye…more parking at Pike’s Place for us.
When you move to ..... Idaho, Texas, Az, Fla etc.... leave your left wing politics behind... remember that is what destroyed your previous city, do not destroy your new home
Idaho seems like a lovely place, but I’m scared to make the move and bring my non binary children and they wife. I’m a progressive democrat that identifies as a lion/tiger it. My question is will I be welcomed with open arms?
@jackiekrieger4921 I would disagree with this. That could happen depending on where you move to. Your statement is not a blanket statement for all of Idaho.
The comment “The masking was everywhere” did not sit right with me. To put people down for wearing masks to protect themselves and others is shameful. I was physically and verbally accosted for wearing a mask. I am immunocompromised and have become sensitive to odors so I happily wear one.
It might just be because in high populated areas, disease spreads faster, you'll see people in outdoor parks wearing masks. If you live in rural areas, it's just not as common.
Masks did not stop you from catching covid. Vaccines did not stop you from catching covid. Yet the Democrats in this state forced both and punished you for noncompliance. Take your hurt feelings elsewhere and leave people's freedoms alone.

are asian Americans welcomed in Idaho? I’m from Seattle a Filipino-American who is a Republican 😅
