Good morning my lovely friends! How are we all coping with the heat in England? The kids broke up from school yesterday so can't wait to share 7 weeks of summer fun with you including seaside vlogs, a bit of Disney, back to school hauls and organisation. Would love to hear if you want to see anything in particular. Have a lovely day, stay safe and speak to you in the comments xxx
Struggling in this heat at 8months pregnant, I need those ice poles in my life 😂 can't wait to see all the fun you and lil ones get up to, love watching your vlogs xxx
It’s the air con in American houses that makes stuff last so long! But I’ve found washing fruit with a mix of water and white vinegar helps kill the mould spores, especially on berries
I really recommend freezing the juice boxes. Then you take one out whenever you leave the house. That way if you’re stuck in a car, it’ll still be cold when you drink it. It also doubles up as an ice pack while it thaws. ❤️❤️I did that when I went to school, and it was still cold by lunch time.
I don’t know if fruit lasts longer in the US, but I will say we consistently refrigerate way more fruit and veg than you do in the UK and Europe generally. Many people don’t store any fruit besides bananas at room temperature and the only veggies we don’t refrigerate are potatoes, onions, and garlic. (And tomatoes if you have nice ones.) We also buy a lot of fruit and veg which comes pre-treated with an edible wax coating to make them shiny and last longer. Things like oranges, lemons, apples, and cucumbers come with that coating. I personally really hate the wax on apples and cucumbers and will try to seek out ones without it but you basically have to buy them from farm stands or farmers markets. We also have lots of crazy science going on because our food has to travel so far. I’ve heard they pump gasses into the trucks to keep food from spoiling. And they put some kind of special gas in bags of salad to keep them fresher longer.
If you go for a coffee machine, definitely go for one of the Nespresso machines! The pods are recyclable so much better for the environment plus they send you big post bags that you can fill up and then a courier will collect them from your house for recycling 😊 Makes cracking coffee as well! ☕️
One great tip with the fruit is not to wash it till you eat it. If washed before, the moisture can eventually grown mold. My Blueberries lasted so long this last week because I only washed what we were going to eat. Love the haul, thank you.
Fab video! We have a dolce gusto coffee machine, it’s fabulous all year round, this week we have been having iced cappuccinos as it gives you the option of hot or cold drinks x
Teachers much love you getting a nice bottle of Prosecco lol I got my kids teacher a candle. You really suit mustard yellow btw it’s definitely your colour 💜
I love it when you go to costco. It's to far for me to visit! I do think however for food and snacks for kids b&m, home bargains and the pound shop is cheaper!!!!
Hi Emma, happy Wednesday. I love Costco videos so this has brightened up my Wednesday, thank you. I'm not really a heat person so I much prefer winter especially.
I'm in the US and depending on how fresh they are to begin with, grapes may last a week...maybe 10 days at the very most. Berries don't even last a few days, apples and oranges last a lot longer. I think if you seal them in an air tight container, they may last a little longer... But not much. The hand wash I got from Costco (in similar packaging) seemed a little more watered down than Bath & Bodyworks soap.
From America and I have no idea how people get a month out of fruit. Grapes for me are usually 2 weeks at best and a week for berries or softer fruit. I will say for things that can ripen at home like peaches and avocados, I will buy multiple ripeness stages if I can. That way I can buy for a week and nothing goes off since the least ripe things should be perfectly ripe by the end.
My family (well my mum!) has the tassimo one. Really easy to use, have to use the pods which i believe you can recycle some places. Only uses water, really great, when I move out it will be on my birthday list!
I've had a tassimo and currently got a Nespresoo gusto if your gonna got a pop coffee machine then I would look at pods you would you , I am saving for the hot chocolate velvetiser though off autum as they look lovely ☺️ also home sence /tkmax. Have some good sessional coffee ☕️ And yeah I was like it's summer and we are by the sea side so was naughty yesterday had chips and 🍦 ice cream also I've never been to Costco but my friend had her little one's birthday cake from there and it was delicious

American here! If you keep most fruit chilled, it will last a few weeks. Grapes usually last 3-4 weeks when chilled in the fridge!
Morning! If we keep ours in the ridge is STILL goes off quick! It's rubbish!
