I think that whilst I like the look of the standard screen on the R that will be the best solution for touring duties - personally I still have the standard screen on mine but the biggest difference for me was replacing the standard mirrors with the Rottweiler arrow hand guard mounted ones reduced the buffeting drastically. And yes def better looking than the S!!
Hello, I liked your video and I was interested in the screen, what brand and model is it? I tried to install a Givi model S screen on my sar, but it was too high, thank you
Like your video, side question, what is the seat you have on your 1290 SAR? I am find the standard seat pushes me too far forward for my body size, I think I need about an inch and a half more room, I could modify the standard seat or get something off the net, But that could be pot luck!
Hi and thanks for watching. Sorry for the delayed reply. Normal life has been manic. I’m 175cm, so pretty short. It works for me. Pannier frames are Touratech.
I do take the R off road and plan to do a lot more once I’ve got a bit more protection fitted. I got the R as I find it more comfortable and nicer to ride than the 2021 SAS I had. Thanks for watching.
Just to be certain, have you now got the 1290R? How does it compare to your 890, too heavy, too much, or decent enough? Thank you. Ride well, ride safe. M
Hi again- I find the 1290 smoother and easier to ride than the 890!! Go figure. I've taken the 1290 R off road and done some mid level green roads, but not as much as I've done on the 890. I've not dropped it yet,- did all that with the 890, but the low down weight feels similar to the 890. As I've said before, I'm an enthusiastic amateur, so hopefully give some real world views.
Cool, I now realise this is your bike. I have the S and struggle on height - 5’8” etc. Have you managed this bikes height ? Is suspension lowered or dropped? Thanks
Hi Mabs and thanks for watching. Yes, the 1290 R is my bike along with the 890R. The 1290 S was borrowed for 5 days while the 890 suspension was lowered. The 1290R is all standard apart from a Power Parts low seat. My in seam is 29 inches. It's a bit of a stretch at times, but you get used to it quickly- I can tip toe both sides on level ground, but it's easy to get a single flat foot down either side.. Ridden it off road and it just needs planning on where to stop!! Have a great year of riding.
I have the same problem on my 1290 r 2022. Was thinking about the s screen - thank you looks like the easiest fix, will get one.

Sorry for the delayed reply. It's the stock KTM screens from the 1290 S and R- I just swapped them around.

It’s the KTM power parts low seat for my short legs 😆
Alex are you still about.
Curious how tall you are? Please can you also advise what pannier frames you have?

I’m curious as to why you chose the R over the S if your main use is touring with occasional off road? Is that not what the S is for?

@@advnoobie6061 Was a good video, enjoyed it 👍🏼
👍
Are those the double take mirrors you are using? How do you like them? Any vibrations in the mirrors? Thx and ride safe!
Yes - Doubletake and think they are good. They are solid and the optics are clear.

About to get back on it- had no time or bandwidth for films for a while. I have a new toy and that is going to be the subject. Can't wait.
