The 2013 season has got under way with this gun in a big way. I have been to two events and my shooting with this gun is amazing. 91% hit rate so far. I went back to basics to counteract the bouncing and it made all the difference. Holding it longer, putting my chin in further has made it so different to shoot, with exceptional results. I love this gun!
Mine was stiff too but its adjustable. There is an adjuster in the forearm and really easy to do, transforms the action. Easy to find the instructions with an on-line search.
I bought a used one here in Canada with a nice browning case and some accessories. I got it from a gentleman, he took care of it as it was in a very good condition. So I took it to the field and shot 15 shells of 1 1/8 oz 7.5 to see how it kicks and handles... Wow this shotgun kicked my shoulder and my jaw pretty seriously with only 15 shots! The plastic stock hurts more than wood it seems :) I do not want to imagine how the shoulder will be after a couple of hours at a clay range. I thought recoil won't be a factor considering the technology of the fancy pad. But it handles very well. Now I think I know the reason why this gentleman sold it with all its accessories and goodies at a price that I thought was pretty good for the bundle... In any case, I like it allot but need to find a solution for that recoil thingy.
i am going to imaging that you know how to properly mount a shotgun, taking that out of the equation i am surprises what you had experienced, i haven't shoot one yet so i have to take your word for it, but on my case i own one with the wood stock and man there is day that i felt sorry for the gun, after putting over 250 round easily there is nothing to cry about
I only shoot competition clay pigeon. And here in France it is fast and often with extreme left and right shots, meaning fast moves to the clay. I have looked and felt the camo version at my gun dealer. The texture feels really different but very nice. My gut feel would be to go for the camo 28 inch version. The recoil pad really works. I often shoot 80-100 shells in a two hour slot and genuinely there is no recoil or discomfort. Browning are well built strong guns that do the business.
Yes I love Cynergy and am not looking to change mine, but if and when I have the money I will probably buy a Cynergy Pro Trap like I had before. A lot of trap shooting is in your head anyway, confidence and a bit of skill make a hell of a difference. I do love the Black Ice looks though. I used to live in the Far East and do loads of ptol shooting (IPSC) and like the plastics used in modern guns.
I have a black ice but I've always found breaking the barrel is really stiff! Watch out for the plastic stippling on the forearm and also the grip, the 'spots' will wear over time. a replacement forearm costed me 120 quid!
I love my black ice , although trying different ammo through it with different types of clays disciplines i found it very sweet with Gamebore blackgold 28g as in my average was 80-85 /100 then when paying the extra money for the black gold with this gun is shot up to 90-95 /100 when shooting DTL .. and ABT. its very much a head turner down at the club s ive been too as in everyone asking for a blast .
Thanks for your reply. The answer isn't straight forward I'm afraid to say. This composite gun is lovely to handle and feel etc. But my trap results in France this summer were slightly worse than with my Cynergy Trap last year. Even if you allowed for me maybe having a bad week or two, over a five months season results even out. Basically it is lighter and as such moves too quick. I still love it but would like a full trap gun too.
Great review. Do you think this gun would suffer from taking it duck hunting? We are often out in the rain and up to our waists in water. I was leaning towards to composite stock for this reason.
Yes having used it all last season I would agree the opening was always very hard but has eased considerable now. The marks that annoy me are the ones cause by trying to raise the comb. I took the pin out and then couldn't slide or raise the comb I used a screw driver for leverage but made some marks which is frustrating. Overall my feeling is the gun is too light and as such bounces around in the shoulder thus making accuracy a bit harder. Ho hum...
I was actually thinking about getting the camo version to make it tougher. I think 28 inch is better suited to hunting to help with snap shooting. I am in Australia so choices are limited. Do you think the 30 inch barrels help with swing/lead? You sound like a very experienced shotgunner. Also does the recoil pad work? I am 6 foot tall but have a slim build it can be hard to get on target on the second shot shooting 3 or 3 1/2 inch steel!
Status report would be great, love the look of the gun, but would like to know how the finish holds up. Looks like the grips could wear down after a while.
Great looking gun. You swopped your trap gun for this which is a sporter I think. I would very much like to shoot trap with a composite, but it appears that they do not sell a trap composite model. Are you shooting trap with this? or sporting. Do you think this gun would shoot trap as I am only looking for a trap gun I have a browning 325 sporter already. Your views would be appreciated.
I use car trim removal tools if you dont want to mark the plastic. I wont part with my cynergy as I'm a modern type of shooter and love the way it looks! However if I could afford a Beretta DT10.....
Waiting for new camera to arrive so will try to shoot it this coming weekend and post it sun/mon. Gun is mega and have been shooting really well recently. Thanks for your comment.
Thanks for your comments. I would think this gun would be ideal for duck hunting especially if as you say you are in a we environment. The only decision to make would be the barrel length. Mine has the 30"-76cm barrels but maybe you would prefer the 28" barrel version. If you are in the US you might find other options or variants available to you. Since I made this video I have been using it every weekend and am totally satisfied with it. Let me know what you choose please.
If someone from Browning US would like to contact me I have a good marketing idea/proposal to make to you. I am a marketing professional myself and would like to help you with some non US marketing.

I look forward to it, thinking about buying one and your video is the only review on youtube. Thanks for posting.
