- Client Comment: This 1.7-liter electric kettle just stopped heating water, but it can still be used as a water pitcher. (I'm pretty sure it's the pitcher, itself, that's broken, not the electric base it sits on. But I'm not 100% sure of that.)
Spoiler: The heating element is burned out
First of all, for full disclosure, it was my tea kettle that was being tested. But I owe the tech nothing, other than my deep appreciation for his generosity in offering to attempt to repair the device. That said, as someone who used to work in broadcasting (both radio and television), I want to make some comments about this presentation.
I liked how Dano, before anything else, so clearly and articulately introduced what the project was. I also liked how methodically he tested and diagnosed the problem, right before our eyes.
In terms of production quality, he had his camera situated in a position where we (the viewers) always had a clear view of what he was doing. He operated his remote smoothly and his segues (when he need to pause) were very nicely performed.
The bottom line (or, at least one of the bottom lines) is this. Kudos to Dano. Well done, sir!!!
I appreciate the kind words. I use the camera so I can see what I am doing. Any production quality was pure dumb luck, but I will accept the compliment.
Good video! I was hoping for a different result, but knowing not to waste my time is still very helpful!
Thank you! The owner just wanted confirmation before he gave up on it.
A Good effort, l appreaciated your frank candour. 😊 MJ in B'dos.
Sorry for the delayed response. If others are wondering, Everything I know about the Brookstone Heated Throw is in the video. If you follow the "reconnect" steps and it doesn't work, I am clueless.
Thanks for your time,
You're a very honest person.
God bless you
So nice of you
Thanks for sharing cos I have same problem with my kettle
I wish it was better news, but at least you know where it stands.
Will you be at an upcoming Fix-It Clinic? We have an electric kettle that we'd love help troubleshooting.
I am at every Fix-It Clinic, unless I am out of town or there is a conflict between counties (I can't be in 2 places at once) but there are lots of talented (smarter than me) folks who volunteer. Bring it in. (Breaking news: I just missed the WA Co clinic due to illness. First time ever)
bless you uncle , thank you that was very helpful and informative 🙏
Thank you Sir u did confirm what i suspected what happend to mine.
Glad to help. Knowing it is indeed dead makes it easier to let it go.
It’s a kettle, not a teapot, coffee pot.
Actually, I just repeat whatever the client calls it. Most of them we see are being used for tea.
