Everyone who are trying to compare versions and saying one is superior to another are just missing the point. If the supposition that music is language is true, if a single example becomes the only accepted version then that song or genre becomes as dead as Latin. Fela is alive because people are still finding his truths in their own ways.
Latin lives here as well as Afro beat.

As a real Fela fan, a connoiseur of African Music, and an African, I can truly say that this was an entertaining prerformance.

This is truly beautiful. I was fascinated watching a re-do of one of Fela's piece by non-Africans. At first I thought no one amongst you would be able to sing the lyrics! But now I know better. Kudos! Kudos! Wow! It was great!

Gobsmacked!!! After the initial shock of how authentically Afro Beat you guys sound, everything was going tolerably well till you guys knocked me off my seat with your spot-on background vocals.
Unless you’re fela kuti it’s very difficult to try and reproduce his songs but you guys did it spot on

This is really, really great -- full props for superb musicianship. But still prefer the fantastic Newen version -- but hard to compete with with Sean Kuti on lead vocals (and lead sweat production) and the Newen's great singers, especially Francisca with her powerful and soulful low range.

Came here to say this also. That millimeter is the drums, IMHO. Newen has a jazz-sounding kit and the drummer bangs on the fillings way more often and louder, which I personally like better. Nothing wrong with this one, tho. Delivered great where I thought they would be the thinnest, the vocal(s).
