I'm building in this this weekend, with some mild mods. Really excited.
How did it go?
@@Jplays-Games I couldn't use it, sadly. I. measured my graphics card wrong and my components wouldn't fit. :-(
@@3dchick hey, what exactly you did wrong? I'm trying to do calculations right now and I'm stack with air cooler for cpu, cause don't know if it'll fit with rx 7900 xtx from sapphire
@@playmaker1011 i had gotten an arctic aio, which has a taller thicker?) rad/fan combo and I under measured my Gigabyte 3090. That combo did not fit if I wanted any other fans. . So I'm holding on to it for maybe a later build.
Thanks for the fan demo, actually really useful 👍
I had a bit of a toxic relationship with the Q300L V1. Bought it instantly when it came out, loved it to pieces... but it was an oven with flimsy USB ports that died at the 6-month mark. Only when I removed the entire front I/O, added three extra fans and a 120 mm AIO, I was able to remove heat out of the equation.
This is... the same. They just removed the flexibility of the front I/O and added a type C port. Using an SFX power supply would be optimal, but the premium you pay for it makes the whole thing absurd.
Good news, it's still fun for modders. All the 3d-printed mods available will probably work with minimum to no adjustments. Bad news... everything else. It's the same case.
People keep moaning about airflow.
I've got it and cpu (ryzen 5600g) runs between 30 deg c to 60 deg c max). I rarely see it go as high in the 50s.
I've also got a 6750xt. Managed to fit a 3 fan gpu in this case too.
That was running at 40 deg c.
Its all crammed in but it's not actually that bad.
I will say I don't use the dust filters though.
Fans
1 x 120mm at bottom
2 x 120mm front
2 x 120mm top
1 x 120mm rear
(cheap rgp thermal take ones)
Can fit 140mm
Swear gamers nexus done a review on the q500l and now everyone thinks the q300l is rubbish.
It doesnt scream high quality but you're not paying that either.
It is, what it is, a small compact case.
I'm plan to upgrade my pc living room with this case, I guess it should ok for R5 4500 + rx6600 / Thank you for info
Lots of possibilities for 'modders', Tom! I like it. Thank you for introducing us to the case...🇺🇸 😎👍☕
Not airflow fix, sadge! Coolermaster, YOU HAD ONE JOB!
When i saw the filter i thought there were bigger holes, but was just the filter pattern. The case holes are the some pattern that V1
in my v1 i manege to put a 240 AIO in the top. Didn work with the intended holes, i use the others. And is kinda close to not fit. But work
This is very very useful, thank you very much
Nice one Guv.
I am planning on buying this case for my gaming pc I am build once the parts come in.
My next case will be Lian Li Lancool 3. I want a full tower case again. I also own a HAF X (full tower Cooler master) from 2011!
Form factor wise is perfect, i will be switching from d31 to it as long as i am sure i can fit in my aio
I think you would regret that choice.
I just bought the q500l a couple of months ago. If they bring out a v2 of that case aswell I'll have major buyers regret.
If this case had the psu cover would be perfect for me
No performance numbers... so an oven like the original Q300L with the unchanged panel holes right? Yeah, steer clear of this case, we bought one and was surprised by the terrible heat dissipation due to the small airflow, and the rad mounts didn't change at all from V1, which is pretty terrible. We ended up using an angle grinder to mod the case for actual airflow, but this should NOT be a requirement. As is, it's a Type-C update to a bad case and sorry to say, you missed the downgrade which was the removal of the reset button from V1. Nice review, just needed a bit more research and actual testing to see how bad it is. But, keep up the good work, I know it's not easy. 😀
I had this case ...the V1. It sucked a*s ,the cooling was very bad even though it is full of holes and the construction quality is very poor...I tried to make the holes bigger so that it would be cooler and I ended up using it without filters for about 6 months after which I threw it away...I'm sorry but it's not worth the asking price. The weakest case I've ever had... now I have the AP201 just as small with mesh and no problems with cooling.
great overview.
perfect cheap case for mid range builds works perfectly well with i5 12400f and rtx 4060 ti inam getting nice temps
nice to see cm didnt address the issue with the case and that was the front panel. the thing is so restrictive
Thanks Tom for this! I do believe this case has some really serious downsides. The panels look extremely restrictive to airflow to me. That's the biggest concern. When it comes to Value for money, I really would have a hard time recommending this over say... a Montech Air 903. That case has 3 140mm fans, fits nearly all hardware, and does it for $65 bucks. That's only 5 more dollars at least in the states than this. The upsides are the size is compact, comes with Tempered glass, and comes with a front USB-C. That part is not bad, but I do think it faces a hard time with the competition that is out there.
I have the Q500L version of this case, and this version fixes absolutely none of the main issues . The poor ventilation the the very small holes in the front, top, and rear fan are terrible. I modded my case and literally cut 120mm holes where I have my fans so I love it but it's atrocious
@@santhiner the montech is an atx case which has different competition from a matx case. Of course an atx case is going to fit more and have better airflow for cheaper.
@@SpareTrashMailzen I wasn't talking about montech? But even so if the case cost the same it's a valid comparison
@@santhiner my bad. I replied to the wrong person.
Great review. Thanks a lot.
Are there any other similar sized cases out there that have the option of being laid horizontally like this one does?
Thanks!
Hi Tom. Many thanks for the excellent review. I think that I will get one of these if they ever come into stock! Currently it's 10 days past the launch date and nobody has them 😔. As you say, everyone has different drivers and mine is wanting to update the GPU in my SFF gaming rig. The case it's currently in can only take a dual slot GPU and I was looking at the RX6700XT for a long time but decided to wait to see what the new generations of Nvidia and AMD cards would produce in that form factor. Unfortunately the RTX4070 is stupidly overpriced and barely adequate with 12GB of VRAM and a 192-bit bus while the new AMD cards seem to be too power-hungry to allow a dual-slot solution. As such I have decided to recase my rig to allow a triple slot RX7800XT but have size constraints imposed by a "hideaway" computer desk I am looking at getting in the near future. As well as the limited room for the computer itself the desk is solid wood and so will require maximum ventilation in the case, preferably with front intake and top exhaust (my current rig uses a 120mm AIO for space which I hope can be attached to the roof in this case). Price is not the deciding factor here and I have looked at mATX cases from other manufacturers (such as Fractal) but they are too big. This case looks ideal 👍😁
Haha, print big circles on the filter to give the illusion that it fixed the biggest issue of the case.
This is interesting
Seems to me for a mid range build. For hardware thats too toasty. A 12400 or similar. Its more than decent. A real positive for me is that smaller footprint. Under 30 litres. And good I/O. No goofy old USB 2.0 ports mixed in. Having USB-C is a plus too. Something that this Coolermaster has over the competing options at the same price point.. I do wish there was no tempered glass panel. Acrylic would have been fine.
Used the V1 in a couple of builds, an okay case to build in but felt really really cheap. I didn't think they were worth the £50 price. The Lian Li Lancool 205M Mesh Micro is much a better case for similar money.
Had the Q300L V1 back in 2020 at the start of the pandemic. I love the case because it's simple to build with, and it was my reintroduction to desktop PC after 7 years of laptop use. The heat issue isn't too much of a problem as long as you're realistic with the components you put in. Obviously, no CPUs with TDP higher than 65W (no Core i9/Ryzen 9), and no GPUs beyond RX *700 XT/RTX *060 Ti. And be sure to put on decent case fans, like Arctic P12/P14. With the latter fans in my Q300L V1 and an undervolted GPU, overall temps sit around 67C - 71C while gaming. Also I don't know why, but probably due to childhood trauma, I was more comfortable with Q300L V1's acrylic panel than with a tempered glass one on V2. Tempered glass panels simply scares me, especially ones that use screws instead of hinges or tool-free mounting methods. Would prefer mesh side panels for best compromise.
wish a top mounted psu version
I almost can't believe that they didn't fix the awful airflow. *almost*
They didn't. If you look closely, the holes under the dust filter look the exact same. Only the dust filter makes the holes look bigger with the black dots. Can a site please compare v1 and V2 temps?
i might have to drill them if i ever get one
Pretty sure that’s a different case
Thanks for the review. It was very telling that you didn't mention the competition. This case fares poorly when compared to the Kolink Citadel Mesh which is similarly priced, has room for a Dark Rock Pro 4 (I note you didn't address CPU cooler height), comes with two fans, has offset fan mount holes at the top, and you can move the front fans from inside the frame of the case to outside the frame but still behind the fascia so you can mount a RTX 3090 FE.
Keep up the good work.
Ill see if I can get one in so I can take a look :)
@@OC3D It's available in several varieties.
I really hate tempered glass and that's a deal-breaker for me. Do they make a non-TG version of this case?
cooler master nr200p i think is good choice for u
Hi Tom, i like the review i just had a question, what are the measurements of the top and front mesh? I cant find it anywhere online so i hope you have the answer. Keep up the great work -Isaak ps i come from holland so if my english is a bit of well thats the reason of not i nailed it.

I need a case which can accommodate 330-350mm GPU and 240mm radiator up top with smallest foot prints. Case shouldn't be hiher than 400mm including feet. Depth should be same 400mm but no compro for GPU length. I could defi pick longer case if it has support for 330-350mm GPU support but not taller than 400mm. Suggestions please. Thanks
Such a cool looking case, too bad most of you say it sucks😢
Fr
Is the tempered glass compatible with version one?
Would this fit a 200mm PSU?
Hm... Can I put ATX Motherboard there? with SFX PSU?
Sorry but the down part, if you remove the filter are the feet going away too? Because if you put it horizontally you are going to see the feet otherwise....
if you remove the feet the mesh still stays
@@OC3D it is not really the question I asked... Anyway understood that you can pull off the feet to make that part exactly same as the top
PSU mount really should've been in the top front above the GPU
that would have been a nightmare for cables by the psu and added design and manufacture complexity
Will the tempered glass support the weight of a typical 24in LED monitor?
I'm worried if it will support the weight of a 20 lb cat, lol. I'm definitely going horizontal, so they lay on the glass not the top, blocking it 😂
@@3dchick Lol true. I returned mine and went with a traditional all-metal case. (Hard to find these days). I would have never trusted the glass and could not care less about showing off the internals. Plus, the old-style case is much more versatile for my needs. I mounted old-school 5.25in DvD writer in one bay, a 5.25in line of USB3 ports in another bay, and in the 3.5in bay, I mounted a multi-card reader. So yeah, I cut bait fast on the glass coolermaster case. Never even opened the box , just returned it unopened, it just wasn't going to fit my needs nor would I trust the glass.
@@bigslick Nice additions! This is my interim case for me to eke another year out of my existing, last gen parts. Since it's so inexpensive (I got it for $45 usd on Amazon with a coupon), it's a good one for me to play with mods. I don't think I'd try using newer bigger, hotter parts in this.
@@3dchickthat's a good price so it's worth trying.
Can you use a 240 mm liquid cpu cooler in this case ?
yes
the case is so awesome but the front looks so bad :(
What aio can i use in this case that is compatible with the i5-12400f (lga 1700) my idle temp is 80 and in gaming its a stable 100 degrees celcius
I have 13600k and a 240 mm MSI Mag Coreliquid V2. Lots of hate on MSI AIOs but it does good for me. It’s mounted in the front with the hoses coming out the bottom. I run pretty aggressive fan settings through icue, but at 90% usage I can stay around 75C pretty easy
@@MasonFarmin4Profitnice i bought the gelid liquid 240 i mounted it on the front with the tubes on bottom and on idle i have 32 degrees celcius and 54 on heavy load
I think the asus prime AP201 is just better overall than this
Was about to say the same thing
well all same as q300L , few change ...
It still looks like it has too mutch metal and too few holes like in the old one.
I built a pc in this case, the cooling sucked.
Yeah, the solid panel to hole ratio still looks bad on this V2 model.
Price doubled for this "new" case
It would have been better if CoolerMaster had taken the Dremel to it rather than expect us to do it. 🤣 They really don't seem to have addressed the cooling issues created with the V1 design, and if you are using air cooling those holes guarantee it's going to sound like an air conditioner while only spitting out hot air. Nice concept but really poor as a PC case.
This case is absolutely terrible, for some reason none of the reviewers have really detailed the horrible thermal issues this case has, nor the fact that they made issues with the case worse than V1; it still emits a toxic chocolate smell that probably causes cancer and also it makes me genuinely upset using this case for builds because I can't with a straight face give the client this case without wanting to sue coolermaster for making such a disgusting bad thermal bad smelling case.
if you don't know what I'm talking about get the temp of your case to 70c or above and it will go into full chocolate mode
No meaningful change whatsoever. Just bought the "v1" in White. Not impressed by v2, v1 has a personality.
In terms of cooling, it looks like the same rubbish as the original.
Very poor, perforated panel too restrictive (too much metal).
1st
I wouldn't pay more than $40 for it.
