Did you have the top vents open? Sometimes opening all four vents allows that heat to rise up and keeping all the coals together helps as well. Thanks for sharing.

i got a nomad to try for free, same results, disapointed, does not work, tried several brands and type of fuels, my weber works 100 percent better, have not used the nomad brand fuel, but that takes the fun out of it

Thank you, Ethan. I haven’t used their brand of charcoal yet either. Given its compactness, I expected some compromise in performance but early results haven’t been very-expensive-grill impressive. Thanks again and have a dandy day!
