BIOGRAPHY
Susan Naccache was born in Toronto and raised in Ottawa. She has been playing the cello since the age of 14. Susan obtained her Bachelors and Masters in cello performance at the University of Ottawa. She also studied in England for one year as part of the National Centre for Orchestral Studies and obtained a Post Graduate Diploma with Distinction in Performance. Susan served as the solo cellist in the Canadian Forces String Ensemble for 18 years, and retired in 2000. Her teachers have included known names as Alexander Baillie, Harvey Shapiro, Christopher Bunting and Irene Sharp.
Susan has played with the orchestras of Ottawa, National Arts Centre, Nepean, Georgian Bay, Niagara, Huronia, Windsor, Peterborough, Parma, Italy and many others. She loves collaborating with friends in chamber music and has attended many workshops in chamber music performance. Susan also loves teaching and has a private studio in Mississauga where she resides. One of her students won the Silver Medal for Grade 2 cello at the Royal Conservatory of Music in 2008. In 2012 Susan collaborated with one of her adult students to form the Esperanza Music Project, an El Sistema inspired program which became known as Sistema Mississauga. She is married with two grown children, one a music therapist and the other a student of wine. Susan is passionate about opera and is interested in learning how to conduct opera.
