The trilogy is now complete. Hanks and Spielberg have created the gold standard against which all WW2 productions will be compared, from now on. You can be proud of this, gentlemen. Congratulations.
I still feel that we need a Navy dedicated series. Not 95% marine dedicated like the Pacific (which is my favorite). The real naval battles of Midway, Wake Island, Philippine sea etc. Maybe even start at Pearl Harbour.
@@davaemaximus9333 I wonder if a navy show would have similar problems to Masters of the Air. Of course it was great, but I feel the way in which the story is told and the pacing is off for a lot of it which is probably due to the nature of the show being almost entirely within the bombers and the bases etc. BoB and The Pacific felt a lot more natural at least to me.
A beautiful, moving, superb, trilogy of themes, each perfectly capturing the essence of the very different WW2 arenas they portray. Spielberg and Hanks have created the quintessential screen experience to celebrate and remember the courage, bravery and sacrifice of a generation of men we must never forget.
Yes, I totally agree with you. I think they had the worst theater to fight in. Everything, food, water, ammunition, medical, weapons, etc had to be brought in by ship. None of that was there when they invaded an island unless of course what was captured from the Japanese. There were no roads already built, houses or towns to take shelter in, nothing. Just jungle, insects, rain, disease, rough terrain, none of the comforts of a civilized, established world.
True, my sister and brother-in-law watched it for the first time last year. They didn't like it at first but grew to love it. And we've been big on BoB since it first released.

His brother was in Europe and described the Germans as excellent soldiers and hard fighters, every inch was contested but they atleast surrendered when they were beat.
Very hard to keep a dry eye watching the Pacific. I felt bad for the Japanese soldier left all by himself and used for target practice. And the ending....
It was a great dishonor to the Emperor, their nation, and their family to surrender. The chrysanthemum was ground off all their bolt action rifles as they did not want to dishonor their Emperor.

A very unique generation of young men and women who lived, fought, and died for our Country. They were up to the task. Thank you for rising to the call!
All this music was inspired by the memories of those brave soldiers who died on all of those battles, knowing what was going to happen they kept moving forward, defending their country, their families and their brothers in arms, and some dying for them with honor and GOD on their side. We the the people don't have enough tears to cry for those precious souls but as a veteran I will cry for them and remember them till the end of my days, is the least I can do. God bless them.
Es una serie espectacular, me encantó. Representa la universalidad del sentir y del espíritu del soldado, con sus defectos y virtudes; no todos son valientes y los que realmente lo son, sobresalen del montón en momentos claves. Excelente.
All three of these series were simply superb. Band of brothers show us the true comaderies that are made in war and immensly strong bond that these men had. It was truly a masterpiece. The pacific is by far, if not the, most brutal depiction of Combat in the pacific ever put to film. It has humbled many and Given nightmares to many more. It was also an incredible production that didn't hold back about the brutalities of war. The DVD box set has a very true statement in the bottom right hand corner. "Hell was an ocean away". Masters of the was very good. I was pleased and also very moved by the stories told. They really showed how fast lives were lost up the skies of europe. You felt the true nature of loss and sacrifice the Army airforce suffered....and suffered they did. Now to round off the ultimate WW2 American trilogy we would need a Naval story...maybe that followed a ship, maybe multiple crew members from seperate ships. USS Massachusetts? USS Wesr Virginia? US navy destroyers in the pacific? US submarine warfare? All fantastic concepts.
The pacific has the best in my opinion. From music to the unique drawing style that they went with. Almost as if the acts these men are performing are the stuff we see in storys and legend. Only to go form that drawing style to actually footage remaining us that these men actually lived this. Real life heroes like we see in all the stories we read as kids
Band of Brothers, The Pacific….one and one others brave, touching, encouraging stories keep telling us war is cruel, horrible scenes, but fighting for freedom is needed , sacrifices for peace and justice are needed and we must fight for justice and freedom. Salute to all those soldiers contributed their valuable lives!
This music sends me into a different mindset. Thanks to the greatest generation and my dad, age 17 who served on the USS Fortune, a cargo ship in the Pacific.
Ho sofferto e gioito con gli eroi, ho pianto l'orrore, nella speranza che mai più avvenga . Speranza ormai infranta da tempo... La storia non insegna, si ripete all'infinito.
The intros to all 3 are great, very powerful, I remember watching Band of brothers and just being blown away, I was 14 when it premiered. The Pacific also was just outstanding to me, I actually like it maybe a little more, masters of the air was also outstanding, I think the fact that it was on Apple TV sort of changed it a bit for me, that HBO intro always seemed epic !
These are the 3 most awe inspiring shows ever to be put on television. I watch them all each year....at least once. Every time I watch them I find something else to be forever grateful to my grandfather and his generation. God really made some truly brave men and women to do all that they did. Seriously the one thought that goes through my mind every single time I watch any fighting scene from any of the miniseries I am utterly and totally in awe of the bravery the men and women then......and now.
Now that Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks's war series trilogy have completed, here are my personal awards for the three: Band of Brothers: best storyline The Pacific: best scoring and opening Masters of the Air: best CG and editing But my personal favourite and the best one according to me will always be Band of Brothers

Band of Brothers has the best opening theme music, The Pacific has the best content overall, meaning its the best show of all 3, Master of the Air has the best scenes during its opening theme credits.
Heck no is Pacific the best show of the 3. Doesn’t even compare to Band of Brothers. Masters and Pacific are on a closer match, but compared to the masterpiece that is Band, it’s not even a competition
It may very well be which one you watched first. I saw the Pacific first as it aired on HBO in 2010. On top of that when I think of WW2 I think of the Pacific Theater above all else.Perhaps that is why The Pacific was the best to me.I watched BOB second and just wasn't as impressed as The Pacific but without question it was good.
It’s hard to pick which one as my favorite, but man, do I get chills from each one. I would love for them to return to the Pacific to follow a few sailors and aviators from Midway to Leyte Gulf. I’ve seen a few comments already sharing the same sentiment. Pick three ships to follow; a cruiser (USS Indianapolis), a carrier (USS Enterprise) and a submarine (USS Wahoo). Just an idea.
Focused on the Enterprise in the PTO and its airwings, and on the Battle of the Atlantic centering on the sub service and convoys. All are heros no matter how and where they served. As they pass into history, may they rest in peace.
This you can read at the gravesites in Normandy : 2 Timothy 4:6-8 New King James Version (NKJV) I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing...
@@brandonmccorkle1808 i probably meant that masters of the air has more than of the pacific like john and lena or that it only shows a little bit of it out of all the shows
BoB. Bravery of ordinary men under extreme circumstances and the Bond of soldiers under fire, The Pacific. Horrors of War and the Dehumanization of the Enemy, Masters of the Air. The "Why we fought" mentality, and the scale of war
@@inigobantok1579”dehumanization of the enemy” The Japanese were disgusting during WWII, atrocities against a multitude of laws and statutes. Not only to America, but to China as well (Unit 731 and Nanjing etc etc). The Pacific perfectly encapsulates the horrors those men had to face. As well as shows how disgusting the tactics were used against them by the Japanese. So no, it wasn’t dehumanizing. It was true
Masters of The Air is great, but what stops it from being PHENOMENAL is that it’s too short. I wish it was at least 2-3 episodes longer, would’ve liked more Rosenthal missions. Overall, much stronger series than The Pacific IMO.
The problem Is these are real events so they can only make a series last as long as the notes taken from the pilots and crewmen allow, they can't just go throw 3 false missions that Rosenthal ran just to make it last longer lol
So far my top in order of favorites is: 1)Band Of Brothers (Of Course) 2)Masters Of The Air (A great and pleasant surprise) 3)The Pacific (Although I don't like it that much, it's still very good)
Sorry...The Series ar the best ..thank you Steven Spielberg and Tom Hans for this !
By and far, the Pacific Theater of war was the hardest to win in. All food and ammunition and fresh water had to be shipped in. no roads or houses to quarter in, jungle, insects, extreme heat, no hospitals, plenty of disease. And fighting a tenacious enemy who believed suicide on the battlefield brought great honor to country, family, and Emperor.
I have often wondered what the "red hue" which arises throughout The Pacific introduction song symbolizes? Does it represent the Rising Sun of the Japanese Empire, the amount of blood that was spilled during these battles, or what?
Bylo tady hodně těch co položili život tam kde neměli bylo tu hodně mám které se ptali proč měli jsme tu hodně sinu všem vám kluci děkuji všem děkuji tam na horu jste elita nebes
Next miniseries should cover the Mediterranean theatre. It's often forgotten & was seen as secondary even during the war. Maybe the plot could cover an armoured crew in the 1st Armored Division or the Rangers. Or the 3rd Infantry Division. There was a great stop-motion mini based on the 45th Infantry that covered that part of the war but was too short.
This is not yet complete, for many stories remain to be told. Some have mentioned naval action, which should cover Navy, Coast Guard, and Merchant Marine (Atlantic and Pacific), but also the home front (the dreaded telegram) of those who provided the means to prosecute the war, the special ops (commandos, OSS, Merrill's Mauraders), and the W.A.S.P (and others units). Many know of the USS Indianapolis, though perhaps not of the USS Juneau (only 10 survived). The journey is not yet complete...
Blake Neely really knocked it out of the park on Masters of the Air.

Focused on the Enterprise in the PTO and its airwings, and on the Battle of the Atlantic centering on the sub service and convoys. All are heros no matter how and where they served. As they pass into history, may they rest in peace.
A series about the 442nd regiment would be awesome
We need a series about the Navy, the Cost Guard they played a pivotal role, likewise the Merchant Marine and the WACS and WAVES,
THE USS Enterprise would be a centerpiece of any series about the Navy.
Un grand bravo pour les 3 séries j adoré merci Mrs hanks et Spielberg pour votre travail 🇨🇵👏👏👏👏👏👏
Didnt know about madters of the air until now. Thanks for showing me!
Lovely, just lovely ❤️
This music is so beautiful. . . .
Im glad we got such masterpieces, im close to Band of Brothers because im from Europe but damn Pacific was also great made
Now all we need is either a navy or tank series.
The Pacific, masters of the Air, BOB. In that order. All 3 are great.
Agreed! That would be my ranking as well.
I loves these shows. They must be in every HS US history classes! I also believe we need to a series on the US during WW1
The US involvement was very short in WW1.
This you can read at the gravesites in Normandy : 2 Timothy 4:6-8 New King James Version (NKJV)
I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race,
I have kept the faith.
Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing...
The scene at the end of the first part of Band of Brothers where the Paratroopers load up for D-Day and then take off is moving beyond words.

Yeah Pacific would have been great if it focused on the war and not romance. Still a wonderful show aside from that.
@@brandonmccorkle1808 i probably meant that masters of the air has more than of the pacific like john and lena or that it only shows a little bit of it out of all the shows
Very. Well made
I put these three in these categories.
BoB. Bravery.
The Pacific. Honor, sacrifice.
MoTA. Selflessness. Courage. Victory.
BoB. Bravery of ordinary men under extreme circumstances and the Bond of soldiers under fire, The Pacific. Horrors of War and the Dehumanization of the Enemy, Masters of the Air. The "Why we fought" mentality, and the scale of war
Agreed
@@inigobantok1579”dehumanization of the enemy”
The Japanese were disgusting during WWII, atrocities against a multitude of laws and statutes.
Some stories were rushed. The role of the underground in Europe for example
So far my top in order of favorites is:
1)Band Of Brothers (Of Course)
2)Masters Of The Air (A great and pleasant surprise)
3)The Pacific (Although I don't like it that much, it's still very good)
Sorry...The Series ar the best ..thank you Steven Spielberg and Tom Hans for this !
The pacific...LO ES TODO....
From iraq i love the music😢😢
One question: Did MotA include an episode on the Ye Olde Pub? (Lieutenants Charlie Brown and Franz Stigler.)
Powerful song
I remember my Dad said that there were three different wars. Nothing described this as well as these three shows.
Loved playing the role of the adjutant in Masters of the Air
By and far, the Pacific Theater of war was the hardest to win in. All food and ammunition and fresh water had to be shipped in. no roads or houses to quarter in, jungle, insects, extreme heat, no hospitals, plenty of disease. And fighting a tenacious enemy who believed suicide on the battlefield brought great honor to country, family, and Emperor.
Thank you for this
army, marines and army airfoce whats next maybe navy?
Maybe a hot take - Masters of The Air has the best intro and the best opening theme.
100% agree! So beautifully done, perfect blend of the visuals and music.
Three way tie for 1st❤
I also agree
"Masters of the Air" made me more proud of having been in the USAF.
RELEMBRAR NOSSOS HEROIS DO PASSADO DA SEGUNDA GUERRA MUNDIAL, CHEGA DAR LAGRIMAS NO OLHO
Needs a Naval series too, hopefully about USS Enterprise CV-6
i like all the three
They are excellent series, but in my opinion the best introduction is The Pacific. Excellent !!!!!
For me , somehow “ Hymn to the fallen” ( from saving private Ryan ) should be included. I think it’s the most poignant tune. 🇬🇧🇺🇸🇨🇦🇦🇺
Great. Now we need masters of the sea.
Masters of the air to me reminds me of flight, but I think the Pacific is the best music
I would pay to see a modern telling of PT 109
This is not yet complete, for many stories remain to be told. Some have mentioned naval action, which should cover Navy, Coast Guard, and Merchant Marine (Atlantic and Pacific), but also the home front (the dreaded telegram) of those who provided the means to prosecute the war, the special ops (commandos, OSS, Merrill's Mauraders), and the W.A.S.P (and others units). Many know of the USS Indianapolis, though perhaps not of the USS Juneau (only 10 survived). The journey is not yet complete...
All 3 series should be required viewing for all high school students
1 trilogy , 3 opening , 3 masterclass people can easly understand how hard was WWII
Como me gustaria que saquen una serie sobre los alemanes, rusos y japoneses.
They should do one about tge napoleonic wars, would be sick
best show BoB BEST song mota
