From what i heard from this gameplay and various research here and there and my basic knowledge of japanese i can say that theres some kind of time rift or something and caused characters from each different timeline to appear. Cause from what i know when the main character Leon Sakagi hes a sms member that reached planet Ouroboros and encountered unknown enemies and was saved by the pink hair girl. This game takes place supposely one year after the events of Macross Frontier (tv).
So basically multiverse?

Do you know if there is a story translation floating around online somewhere at least? I think I'd like to have this game, but it'd be a lot more fun if I knew what was going on.
Don't know why but Basara's Fire Valkyrie is the only mecha that's not CGI in the cutscenes.

Anyone able to get a playthrough series of this game uploaded? Let's Plays can be tolerated, but I'd prefer standard vids without commentary from the one playing. (Translating the Subtitles to English would be preferable, but is not required)

That's completely wrong, HG are entirely at fault here. As they have held the rights hostage effectively, leaving Big West to only accept their (shitty) terms or go to court. The latter would likely cost a fortune AND would potentially result in Big West losing their rights in the process. Basically, HG are a bunch of steaming shitheads.

The whole game is a shout out to Norse mythology.
On the contrary, I happily listen to people that aren't factually wrong.
not to sas the fans, but i still prefer the story of the Macross vfx2 in ps1.
I haven't seen the Frontier Series so I can't say, but the Movies were god damn phenominal.
The series is different, but good too. Some things the movies do better, but some things were better in the series.

I know I'll never had a chance to play this thing anyways, no matter how much I wanted to...So, it won't hurt if I would ask, what's the story's about? I heard Protoculture or something, is it had anything to do with the Macross timeline as a whole? I mean, EVERYONE is here, from the first Macross to Frontier...and some of them are old enough to be Leon's grandpa or something! Here, they just looked like their normal selves. What's happened?

I'm not sure how you can be a western Macross fan and not know about the various legal issues surrounding the series in the west.
So? They were paid to do that. Plus it's not like they relinquished the series, it was done under license. They're still shitty control freaks (over something they don't own). The problem is that that they're screwing over Big West, who legitimately own the IP.
On the bright side, HG's rights will end in 2021, so we got to be patient.
Better if this game has a Collaboration of Ace Combat Series by Bandai Namco and Project ACES, if PS4 release with Combined Gameplay between Mech mode and Flight Simulation Mode in 1st Person, Cockpit and 3rd person mode.

theres no challenge at all, this boss is just big.
This is supported by the fact that there are 14 wingmates on your side and the fact there are healing items in Macross 30, unlike other games IIRC.
+GGTM LP's only 2 of them are under your direct control and actually damage the final boss though. Still, the ability to pull off 2 SP attacks at 1 SP Gauge is overpowered.
Artdink's Macross games aren't punishing, but they are fun. Though there are moments in being one-shotted by random grunts if you play Ultimate though.

Still, not even firing giant lasers/having indestructible missiles/other very annoying stuff as the freaking final boss is a bad thing. Even Glavil (a recurring miniboss in the Frontier Trilogy) has a laser attack.
it doesn't really help that you get access to all of the songs that buff you, and debuff + damage the boss lol, and YF-30 vomits out missiles like no tomorrow too

Gotta say, Frontier was the low point of the series, in my opinion. But I certainly agree, making 30 into an anime would be great.
Frontier... low point? When Basara exists? I could forgive you for not mentioning Macross 2, since that's not even canon, but... Basara, dude. How can you say ANYTHING is worse than the stain that is Macross 7? With an asshat of a main character who acts like a dick to even his friends, experiences zero character development, completely derails every scene he appears in, constantly demands you LISTEN TO HIS SONG!!!!!! (when Sheryl did that bit SO much better), and grates on the viewer every second he's onscreen?
