Thanks for sharing! This helps me to understand what both synths are capable of. Great music. It looks like they are just different enough to create a different timbre of sound and this complimentarity works well together. They seem to combine well to produce a sonic richness that the modular board synths do by patching a lot of them together in a chain (and the double 8s seem to be easier to navigate).
Just ordered a Cobalt 8X today after researching it for a couple of weeks over Christmas. Can't wait for it to arrive now, certain I've made the right decision, most of my synths are used. BTW, fantastic to see a British manufacturer at the forefront, the Cobalt is up there with the equally unique Korg WaveState in terms of sound, well done :-)
I got my Cobalt 8 the minute it hit Sweetwater I am right now looking at it and feeling overwhelmed with the Stellar blue beast in front of me I am going to dive in right now I am still at preset No. 20 😊
I would also love to know more about which sounds are played on what. Since the video is monochromatic it isn’t even possible to recognize the Cobalt by its color....
Cobalt8M in the rack. Cobalt8 off to the left. Argon8X front and center. The arp you hear in the beginning is the M, and that sequence continues throughout. Everything else you'll hear aside from drums is played live on the other 2 mentioned.
You can also see the name of the Argon (front synth) on the top left of the panel. I've viewing it on a 10" screen so it should be visible on anything bar a mobile phone.
Question... Mr. Modal Jams guy - are most of these tones coming from the Argon? or the Cobalt? Are these patches you made yourself? Or just showing off the presets?
Just watch the video! It's mostly obvious (couple of exceptions) which synth is being used to play which sound, either via the keyboard or the sequencer LEDs. I'd say it's a fairly equal mix of both from watching them ;-) The Cobalt is the sunth at the back/top of the screen.
Super Cool stuff and good job. I enjoyed it here in California. I have done some crazy expressive Techno House stuff and Video Game music with a Roland AX-Synth, Korg and a Hammond Organ. I would really appreciate it if you or any of your viewers get a chance to check it out let me know. Thanks
Nice 👍 sounds! They both work so well together. Looking forward to exploring the Cobalt!
Nice Jam 2 amazing synths that go so well together! :)
This has such an '80s vibe to it, I enjoyed it very much!
Sounds great, you know these are both quality pieces of gear with top notch electronic boards and chips. Keep these videos coming 😃 👍
Thanks, will do!
These two sound so good!

What’s generating the drums?
This are just some vintage-style drum samples coming out of Bitwig.
Which is which? It's hard to tell with the silly colour overlays...
Bigger is argon, smaller is cobalt, as i can see
