- Here's a live improvised jam on the Korg Wavestate where I use a custom patch with four independent layers and play around with the wave sequences and other sound design elements during the jam.
This patch is a part of the "Berlin School and Ambient Construction Kit Vol 3" soundbank available for purchase here: waveformer.gumroad.com/
The audio is recorded to SD card on the KP2S and normalized in Audacity. Video is recorded on an iPhone X. Audio and video is synchronized in DaVinci Resolve 17.

I totally understand now why they added presets to the lanes - you can really create a lot of patches out of just a single preset!

@@yvesjeaurond4937 Yeah :-). I have both the modwave and the wavestate. They are quite similar on several areas, with the mod matrix and the wave/motion sequencing. But the oscillator section is very different and it’s cool to play with the smooth morphing wavetables and wave modifiers of the modwave. So if you like one of them, you’ll probably enjoy the other one as well.

Great sound. You'd get a ton of views if you'd make a step-by-step tutorial on how you got this out of the Wavestate.
Wish I could read the settings.
I think the basics of my sound design is described fairly well in these videos (including video description). I use other techniques as well, of course, but it’s mainly just lots of experiments with wavesequencing and the mod matrix, and lots of tweaking:-).

Wavestate takes polyrhythms to an entirely new level, the sequencing possibilities seems endless, have you reached a point of Wavestate understanding where you can see the end yet?
Not yet :-). And I haven’t even started importing my own samples. The ModMatrix and the tempo sync’ed wave sequencing makes for almost endless possibilities.
@@Waveformer We have a winner synth when the possibilities are this deep..but...also sound fantastic even at its simplest program level. It is very rare on YT I hear a bad sound from this synth. Including very nice sounding effects too.
Endless is the word. With permutations in the billions (trillions?), it would take several lifetimes to hear all the timbres and sequences, even if you only spent a second on each.
If i want to record for example let´s say ableton... it´s possible to record each layer on a separate track in ableton for further processing etc? How is your aproach? Sounds AMAZING MAN. Think i´m gonna get one myself :)
Boo hiss boo, I am selling mine, not because it isn't a good synth, quite the contrary, it is amazing, and I even have your banks.
I find this very hard to work in with my current gear, which means it tends to be played alone.
This means it takes up space that another could be used in my sets.
I will sell with regrets but knowing I have touched one and made some good tunes, I am happy.

I have the wavestate native -
was going to buy the hard today but was curious if the knobs were cc mappable so I could use it as a midi keyboard also for other vst
Not all knobs are MIDI mappable. AFAIK, only the 8 white ModKnobs sends MIDI CC data (both as Performance knobs and as Layer knobs, so that’s 40 independent MIDI controls). In addition, the Joystick, Mod Wheel and Pitch Wheel also sends MIDI data. The rest of the (black) knobs does not send MIDI data. I have only tested with the USB cable, not the MIDI din out.
The MIDI implementation chart in the owner’s manual hints that it should transmit MIDI CCs for channel filter cutoff, but I haven’t been able to get that to work.

How do you run your sound to video. Do you send your outside into the camera ?
I record to SD card using the Kaoss Pad KP2S mini you can see on the right. Then I sync audio and video later in the free DaVinci Resolve video editor.
Hello Wave :-) Can you please tell me what you think about the durability of this Wavestate ? You think it will work for some 10 years ? Too much bad plastic ?
Hi Emanuele. The main rotary encoder has failed on my unit. But it’s covered by warranty, and it’s probably just a very special case that not too many people experience. Other than that I think the quality is fine and I expect it to last many, many years. I don’t find it flimsy at all. It feels solid. But if you’re used to playing synths at four times the price, there will of course be a difference. High quality Fatar keybeds are expensive and you won’t find that in a synth in the Wavestate price range.
dude i bought both your preset packs for wave state but there is a glitch can you help ..The patterns hold even when performance hold is off and latch is off on the arpegiator ..too shut it of i have to go to performance hold and turn it on then off to stop the pattern playing ..help this is driving me nuts
Did you turn off arpeggiator latch on all four layers, one by one?

@@uvpmusic 😀. Glad it worked out for you. It can be a bit hard to sync all layers manually when playing live. That’s why I tend to have the arps with latched and instead use mod knobs 5-8 as volume knobs for the four different layers.
