Yeah, move here and you'll realize how racist Germans are. Absolutely nothing has changed since the 1940s in their mentality. Good luck, Khan. You seriously need it
Probably because after the wall fell there was so much empty space in the old east of the city that it saw a cultural boom; artists, musicians and producers made good use of the space and set up their own clubs and creative spaces which, unlike during the DDR, would be limitless and they would have the freedom to express themselves more. Like most of the clubs you saw were in old warehouses or disused building (like the old Tresor was under an old shopping centre I believe). Most of these clubs became queer-safe-spaces and general safe spaces for creative exploration, and that’s why the clubs today still have that emphasis. Nice video. A couple of other things to add: One of the reasons Berlin is different and is related to your comment that it is a magnet for those who don‘t fit in in the rest of Germany is that young people living in Berlin were exempt from military conscription back when that was still a thing. That attracted a lot of counter-culture and activist types. Also, I had an interesting conversation with a young Italian woman. She loved Berlin because it‘s so clean. I guess it‘s what you‘re used to.

The city is ruled by communists, it has the shittiest education system (which produces more leftists) and is filled with people from the 3rd world.

@ somewhere right: meintest du jetze: "Der Ber kommt von Bärlin wech", oder "Der Baer kommt *aus* Bärlin"..? .. oder gar: "Berlin kommt von [dem Wort] 'Bär'" ?? 😂🤣
I think that also the reason why some people might think that Berlin (and other bigger 'cosmopolitan' cities for that matter) is ugly, is because those big cities are getting more modern and more contemporary in comparison to smaller cities and towns that usually preserve that typical feel. I live in Belgrade in Serbia, and I can see that, comparing Belgrade which feel so strange and not cozy at all in comparison to some other smaller places, like Kragujevac, Novi Sad or Subotica
