this is an pan-European mentality. You pay ridiculous prices for education only in Anglo Saxon countries, I.e. the US and the UK.

That's fascinating that Germany excels in niche markets and has so many of them! Archery is a hobby of mine and Beiter is considered the "top of the line" when it comes to certain components! A well known bow manufacturer here in Rhineland-Palatinate is Horst Perk in Weibern in the Eifel. His manufactury goes by the name "Bogenbautradition".
I only truly started to understand the scale as well as the significance during university. I studied chemistry and material sciences and we often would have guest speakers that produced some boring ass thing one usually doesn't think twice about and that doesn't even have a high price tag to it. However all those companies were producing for a global market and were often the sole or one of very few producers. This made me change the way i look at opportunities to make money as it really isn't in the big shiny things like sports cars, airplanes and their likes, but e.g. a component for glue used in pretty much every house construction around the world, or some small plastic component that is used in every modern piping system around the world. Things that were just replaceable small stuff i wouldn't have thought twice about seeing them everywhere suddenly became a lot more interesting and I started to appreciate the engineering that has gone even into something as mundain as a plastic water bottle or nylon socks
Also, China is like the world Factory (produce tons of goods), but Germany makes a lot of the machines those factories use.

When you talk about corruption, it's clear to me that it's not just a matter of politicians being honest. The population also needs to be. In several plantations around Munich, I saw the products displayed for sale without anyone present. You choose what you want to buy and deposit the money in a box beside it. And it's not a safe, just a plain wooden box. I'm subscribed to your channel and I find the videos funny and sometimes educational :)

Some need more healthcare, some less...just for example! If I loose my job for any reason I still know how to pay my apt and when I retire I still get money monthly, I payed for it within all my working years with my taxes!

Not everyone coming from "West". To the Northeast Slavic-speaking tribes, there were only one people westward of them, Germans, and they called them "nemcu/i" meaning people who don't speak our language. Similarly, the term "Slavic" comes from "slovo" meaning "speech" i.e. "people who speak like us". Romans weren't called Nemcu, they were a distinct nation, south of Europe since way before both Slavic and Germanic tribes came around. In the old days, culture meant language, not ethnicity. As long as you speak the language, you are one of them. In that sense, both Slavic and Germanic are linguistic terms, not ethnic groups.

Living in Germany for almost 10 years now, and coming from Italy, I would add that I feel Germans have a great sens of State and community, if something is public here it belongs to everyone, in Italy something public belongs to none.
And is ripe for exploitation or some other bs "I'm really smart" kind of trick or underhanded tactic.

Although I am European and I love the EU, I don't think the US is that bad. There are pros and cons between Germany and US, like with everything else in life. There is a lot more safety nets and social security in Germany, but a lot more opportunities and money to be made in America. I think it ultimately boils down to, what you want in life
Do people assume education means everyone goes to university is the question?
The conservative UK govt (it was in a coalition with a left-centre party that was weak af) made it compulsory for students to pay yearly tuition fees, the cheapest £9.5k, that's on top of accomodation, transport, food, utilities.. then a few years later we had brexit and with all the problems we face now, we still have some that rather see the "economy tank" (collapse) than to be part of EU.. noone told us they were planning to let raw sewage into our waters because of chemical shortages.. Education really is the path to progress, especially having some critical thinking skills.. kudos to Germany for looking after its people so well, please do not privatise education, EVER. ☮️
One of the smartest students in my class was German. He said he was Average back in his country. US education fell when we poured in too many immigrants at once.

my recommendation for a visit are the Federal States of "Bavaria" or "Baden-Württemberg". Both Federal States are in southern Germany.

If you want a cheaper trip to something like Germany, move to california or canada. california is similar to germany in regards to how expensive housing is, canada is just... the people. They're quite european. Germany is pretty much fornias housing/living expenses, canadian "govern me harder, daddy" plus a shitload of beaurocracy.
Sure it's nice to visit, but living here can be... exhausting. to some degree. Sure, if you "do it by the book", the welfare system will keep you from living on the streets, but at the same time it will take any penny out of your pocket. Comparing your gross income to the life you get for it, you are living much more comfortable in the US.
a miniscule 200sqft appartment (loud neighbors included) will cost you 400€ at least. A "decent" appartment will often cost 1500€ and more, which is about half if not 2/3 of your net income. No, that is not mortgage, that is just rent. To BUY even a small appartment you will need to spend about a quarter million, often more than half a million, resulting in mortgage rates of 2500€ or more / month.
If you can sqeeze even 3000€ net income out of your job you can allready call yourself lucky. Managing to save up 50k€ alone will take half a life time for most germans.
Oh, and be warned: everyone is going to stare. Especially when you open your mouth and just a single english word passes your lips.

When I was living in China, at one point I needed to replace my window. We went to this area specialized in home construction parts (doors, lamps, windows etc.) and my eyes nearly popped out when it turned out many of the window-sellers were selling German windows. Mind you, this area wasn't specialized in high-end, imported products or anything. Anyway, I got myself a German window back then. The workers were super efficient and installed it in just a few hours.

Of course there is corruption here. Especially with the CDU / CSU party. But it works a little differently. If the politicians pass certain laws through parliament for the companies, they will get high-paying jobs at these companies a few years later. Or consulting jobs in which they don't have to do anything. This has been going on for many years, especially with the transport minister, economics minister, agriculture minister, previously with the defense minister and some young politicians who are only in politics because they are bought.

In Russia we have free school education. After the school you have two ways in Russia:
1. You pass the exams with high results and the state pays your education
2. You pass the exams with average or low results and you need to pay the education.

I think the successful country does not exist. The entire world is still very primitive and clumsy. Just that Germany is less primitive and clumsy than the rest, but it is.

Germany was very successful a long time ago but it rubbed many in the wrong way
Germany has about 20,000 castles, the majority of them in poor repair now. If that sounds excessive, realize that during most of its history it was a patchwork of over 300 rival semi-independent principalities, nominally loyal to the emperor, that ranged from pretentious glorified city states (sometimes even actual formal city states like the Free Imperial Cities; Hamburg is still a city-state) to sizable kingdoms in their own right like Bavaria and Prussia. But even so that averages to around 70 castles per kingdom. It makes a fun place for modern visitors, though it's clear a lot of resources were spent that could have been put to better use for society in general. But think of it from a royal perspective.
"Up there on the hill overlooking our capital is the fortress that my ancestors moved into sometime around when written records started being kept. Of course it's been enlarged a few times as building styles changed, and refortified after a couple of sieges. The real improvements came when the townspeople rose up with the peasants during that whole Martin Luther debacle. I'm happy to report that our family stronghold is now quite torchproof and pitchforkproof. Really came in handy in keeping out the Swedes during that whole Thirty Years War thing.
The cousins weren't quite so lucky, but the ones who survived can keep their little fortresses and amuse themselves with jousting and gardening or whatever as long as they don't get any ideas like the great great uncle who thought his branch of the family should take the throne after that whole succession crisis in something hundred and something. The whole kingdom almost reverted to Catholicism, and now we have that whole Edict of Toleration thing going on so we make sure to build a Lutheran church next door to any Catholic church just to make sure nothing looks unbalanced and the peasants don't revolt. Again. And then you have to be really careful who you marry so you don't trigger any suspicion that you're going to change the policy.
Anywho, I've still got a couple of dozen knightly retainers who have their little castles their great great whatever grandparents obtained with the minor noble titles they got in exchange for their pledges of fealty to my exalted forebears. We've still technically got the oaths, but more importantly the cost of running their households has them constantly hanging around begging to be of service so that they can get something out of the privy purse. Keeps them in my pocket in case the cousins feel up to something again.
We still have a few other castles that we built to secure the major trade routes, collect taxes, protect the royal treasuries, etc. Fortunately a few of them came in handy in fighting off the Turks. We had to abandon a couple and start over when the course of the river shifted and the location was kind of rendered useless. A few burnt down and we did a half assed job of rebuilding them. The French took out a couple with artillery during that whole War of the Whatever Succession (I can't keep track of all of them.) So we just abandoned those because obviously they're no good anymore with all these firearms proliferating. Better to spend the money on defense in depth for the garrison towns that are in better shape now.
So in any case things have settled down with the locals enough, and we really need to show how modern and prosperous we are, and there just isn't room to host all the artists and intellectuals that befit the glory of our kingdom behind those old walls, and there isn't really room on the hilltop for expansion, and it's just so old fashioned and unsightly, and have you seen what King Louis's got now? So we built a new royal residence down on the edge of town, and rearranged the town square around it with an opera house, a museum, and some nice new office buildings for the various ministries and the royal archives. There's a whole new wing with accommodations for the imperial court. With any luck the Emperor will remember what Dad did for him during that whole Siege of Vienna, and will remember me when it gets time to appoint the chancellorship and access to the Privy Purse.
Speaking of Dad he got some weird delusions of grandeur after coming back from the war, and decided the capital just wasn't good enough for him, so he went off to one of his favorite vacation spots outside of town, renamed it Dadsburg, and proceeded to bring in some foreigners to design an entire city from scratch around his new palace. So everyone had to up and leave for the new town and pretend to like it while everything was under construction. So impractical. Admittedly it looks pretty good now, but it's a little dated, so 80's (1680's that is.). Not a bad vacation spot now, except it's all gloomy now that stepmom lives there after dad died.
So anyhow we moved everything back to the old capital once the renovation project was far enough along. I'm going to leave my stamp on this city, and no Frenchie or Italian can say anything but wow about the new palace square. It's in the most sophisticated taste possible, and I spared no expense in getting the best painters and decorators to magnify my exalted self in the allegorical stuff all over the place. Though even with the new private rooms things get a bit old with all the courtly ceremonies. Lever, Coucher, a monarch's work is never done. Can't a royal person get a little privacy in his privy chamber now and again?
So we expanded the summer residence outside the city to be able to hold the whole court for a few months. Very airy and nice for the hot season. And away from all those townies. The commoners smell a bit ripe in the heat, don't you know. There's even a few maisons de plaisance in the gardens where I can go meditate and commune with nature and with some visitors undisturbed, if you know what I mean. Wink wink nudge nudge.
Speaking of which I had to build a nice private place for my mistress when I found out she was pregnant so she could raise the kid away from prying eyes. It's conveniently located so I can visit it discreetly during some of my hunting trips. I inherited a couple of hunting lodges around the country and had to renovate them a bit to keep them up to snuff. Gave one of the old ones to my ex mistress, way out in the boonies so she understands not to pester me at court anymore. I built a new place for my current on again/off again mistress and her husband nearby the main residence. That way I can visit when I send him off on diplomatic missions and nobody will think twice about it.

Fun fact: The United States Marine Corps adopted the Bulldog as its mascot after World War I. According to tradition, the Marines fought so fiercely in the battle of Belleau Wood in France that the Germans called them “teufel hunden” after the devil dogs from Bavarian folklore. The nickname “devil dogs” stuck.
I drive by Belleau wood sometimes (I'm French and there is a British and Italian military cemetery less than a km away) something you aught to know is there were many such battles in WW1, belleau not being any special except it was Americans, and as you weren't destroyed you could do PR. When I did my garden I found bits of bomb and bones... all north-eastern France was destroyed
As a brazilian that is interested in visit germany. I would say that I'm very surprised with the number of castles. Probably I'll visit some of them and check if the german bier is really good :)
Go to Munich or so to check out the beer up in the upper part of Germany there are some weird flavored beer I recommend "Augustiner Helles" or "Tegernsee Helles"

On the castles: I think we can all agree on Neuschwanstein being the most famous one, but #2 is not that easy. Being from Eastern Germany, I had never heard of the Heidelberg castle actually. There Wartburg is probably the famost famous one. And I also want a party castle! Can I rent a room in yours? :D
I think people should know there's no speed limit in the Autobahn, if you go fast inside the city you'll be in trouble

Educational and funny video haha, one major reason you have so many castles was/is that you had a law that stated everytime a noble had children they also could own land, so the bundestag was split up into more and more, and ofc they also "needed" a castle :D oh and not being a big earthquake zone also helps preserve them.

When compared to Portugal, I think that the only thing Germany has worse than us is probably the weather ... and German cuisine, eheh, but apart from that the country excels in pretty much everything, starting with bread and ending in cars 🙂
Oi our food is delicious. Potatoes, vegetables, pork/ slow roast and sauce, what's not to love about that? Granted it doesn't look as fancy as italian or french food, but soul food is always just a brownish mess that warms your heart ;)
As a German who moved to Portugal I beg to differ. Portugal is beautiful and so underrated. It might not produce a lot economic value but there is more to life than that.
Another reason is, Germans don't brag. Low key and super successful.

Ohhhh man respect for the video but you need some updates on balkan geography and history: Gavrilo Princip (regarded as a national hero and liberator from austrohungarian occupation) killed Franz Ferdinand in Sarajevo which is and was the capital of BOSNIA. Gavrilo himself was also from Bosnia, not Serbia. Bosnia back then was a part of/occupied by the Austrohungarian Empire, not an independent country and certainly not a part of Serbia. As an aftermath of the assassination, the Austrohungarian Empire actually declared an ultimatum and war to Serbia, despite Gavrilo being Bosnian and this was the official excuse to start the world war I, as Serbia technically was not involved in this incident. Btw, i don’t get why people think that Germany started the ww I too 😂😂😂. Oh and as far as Franz and Gavrilo go.... if you go to Belgrade, visit the Gavrilo Prinzip street, there is a lovely place called Franz Ferdinand, they serve the best austrian Knödel ever....
Ps. I don’t expect anyone to know anything about former Yugoslavian republics and their history, we filed 6 wars in last century and keeping up with us is harder than keeping up with the Kardashians.

Wie gehts Brudder? I loved this video. There are many things that you addressed that's on point, and my favorite part pertains to education. On Reddit, I posted a question regarding Humboldt University. It's VERY cheap for a non-German to study there for her or his bachelor's degree, and it's even cheaper for a German. I asked the subreddit /r/Germany "how is this sustainable as a business model?" I was amazed at the answers that I got. One person politely said to me that my question was quintessentially American, and that in Germany, nobody even thinks about profiteering off of a person's education (or health). In Germany, they don't view education as a for-profit business, but as a necessity.
Anyways, my question for Germans would be this: How easy would it be for a brown-skinned guy to make friends there, and which city is it the easiest and the most difficult to make friends?
As a German whit Asia origin i think skinncolour is not a thing that you need to worry in Germany. But you need to know the mindset and the way of life of the German. If you don't understand or can't understand then it's very difficult to find friends here, becuz German are very uniq in there mindset. And for ppl. of colour Berlin, Hamburg, Cologne, Frankfurt are easy to live and made Friends. Munich, Leipzig, Halle, Dresden are less friendlier. For littler Town you are alway a tourist no more or less, event other German too.

Regarding your last question, i'd say the bigger the city, the easier for a foreigner to make friends. Berlin, Hamburg, Frankfurt, Köln.. Small cities and villages are still very narrow minded, especially older people.
@@namiaris2525 Nami - Thanks for the feedback. I'm a brown American guy, and I love the Germans that I've met a lot. I love Berliners a good bit. All Germans are quite mature when compared to Americans, less cheerful and less emotional than Americans, and finally, a lot smarter.
I met a cab driver last year, and he was of Nigerian ancestry. He told me that he had experiences in many nations, like the USA, Canada, and other places, and he said that Canada and Germany are his two favorite places.
@@RadicalLiving One of my friends is from "halfway between Dusseldorf and Koln," but she identifies as being from Dusseldorf. Another guy is from Frankfurt, and he's alright as well. My friend who's from the Dusseldorf area hates Berliners. She said that "we call them Berliner Schnauzers because they're so mean."
As a brown skinned person traveling with other brown skinned people in Germany, I loved the small towns and felt that people were much friendlier than in the bigger towns. (Well, Köln people were actually pretty friendly, too, at least compared to Berlin). Of course, I was a tourist, not trying to live there. But I never felt unsafe or even uncomfortable anywhere over there as compared to the US.
