  • The "No Child Left Behind" system is an electronic system to ensure no children get left unattended on a school bus. Failure to deactivate the system results in the bus's horn blowing and all the exterior lights flashing.

    As there is some systems on board some of new school buses to force the driver to do a manual check at the end of each run to ensure no child is left on board as failure to deactivate the system blows the horn as all exterior lights start flashing.

    I love the Christmas lights that you put up in this bus, really nice decoration.
    In the 2017 international that we got back in November 2016 that child check system is labelled as a reset button on the back of my bus, and when my driver shuts off the bus the dashboard keeps beeping instead of what you hear on your bus and when she presses the button it makes A little bit of a high-pitched beep when you hold in the button and then the lights indicate that it has been disabled.

    The newer System comes with a speaker and Theftmate so it tells you that it works and then the Speaker will say "Please Conduct Your Child Search Now" You walk back to the Button and press the button and it will say "Child Checkmate is Now Deactivated" Theftmate is a Motion Sensor and if for some reason the Child Checkmate is off but something moves around inside the bus it will set off the Motion Sensor which will also set off the horn after a certain amount of seconds which someone will have to do a Child Search, But If you Don't want to Lose Drivers I would seriously Consider having Theftmate and The Speaker Installed on your buses trust me It will help

      My view is, you can only idiot proof so much. I worked for many years without a electronic nanny telling me how to do my job. These devices make people lazy and complacent. They will walk back and push the button and nothing else. You have to look, and look carefully. A friend found a boy under a seat after walking the bus TWICE and only because she saw a hand.

    This isnt the stock No Child Left Behind system on a CE. This is a Child Checkmate unit. A stock version has either a "Reset Button" or you deactivate it by triggering the back door
    I genuinely dont like the CCM units, especially the ones with the voices. My district doesnt use it. Our C2's have the stock one and its much easier to use

      @yellowbusguy  4 роки тому +1

      We are in Jefferson county Kentucky.

    • @212Elevators
      @212Elevators 4 роки тому +2

      @@yellowbusguy Okay. Child Checkmate's site says the system requirements are the following:
      - 60 Seconds to perform Child Check
      - Deactivation in Off
      - Dome light comes on during deactivation
      - Dome lights flash x2 when deactivated
      - Dome light stays on for 60 seconds after deactivation
      -Door sound alarm if opened with key off. (Latched alarm)
      I don't know what it means by "latched". Do the dome lights flash while the horn goes off though?

    • @yellowbusguy
      @yellowbusguy  4 роки тому +1

      @@212Elevators Yes, the exterior lights flash and the dome lights. In addition you get a warning beep about 30 seconds before the alarm sounds. I usually have time to work my way back closing windows to get to the deactivation button. The system arms after driving for 10 minutes, even if you haven't used the warning lights.

    • @212Elevators
      @212Elevators 4 роки тому +1

    I'm having some issues with the school can drive, equipped with the same system. The way I've been taught to disable it is by opening the ignition, getting up from my seat, walk to the back and press and hold that button for about 10 seconds and then shut off the bus. I'm not sure I'm doing it right cause most of the time the bus will start right away, but some times the system won't allow ignition no matter what I do. I'd really appreciate any insight and input on how to do this properly, thanks for the video

    • @yellowbusguy
      @yellowbusguy  5 років тому +1

      @@gianni1940 The whole point is to be sure you don't have any sleepers. By law, you must walk your bus before leaving it. The alarm is just a tool to make sure drivers have to walk the length of the bus to deactivate it. If you don't press the button, all the lights flash and the horn begins blowing.
