Some people call an add2 an add9, but generally you're supposed to use a number that is greater than 7 when you also have the 7 in the chord. Reductive but helpful : -A chord is assumed to be 1, 3, 5 of it's scale -So we can add 2, 4, 6, 7 -So you can have a C chord (C, E, G) or a Cadd4 (C, E, F, G) -If you use the 7 & any of the others at the same time it's usually called an extention (7 is always assumed to be b7 - I know this sounds strange but it's how it is) -C9 = (C, E, G, Bb, D) -C13 = (C, E, G, Bb, [D, F if you want], A)
