Tip 11: Free critters… if you want the critters of the biome you’re working in to be in your shot… feed them! Once fed, they will usually stay by you or follow you. I’ve successfully done this with ravens and turtles. You can usually “push” them to kind of where you want them to be in your shot, too. (But again, they need to be fed first)

I just had an epiphany -- a lot of people might not know HOW to use the camera settings to switch off of the default, since they are so small, which is why we see so many selfies for outfit challenges. A how-to video might be helpful!
yes lol I just figured out, with the Festive theme, that if you are in the full body mode in the camera setting, hit T and it expands LOL I have gotten 2 really nice pics since I figured this out :)
There are always exceptions to everything. I ranked 11th in the Fire and Water challenge using an indoor photo. My highest rank. I do agree, though, that using outdoor photos are more likely to rank higher.

I 100% agree with avoiding obscure references; I used to tell people this in Covet Fashion all the time. It would be like a “rock star” challenge, and instead of using the most popular/trending clothes, they style an iconic 1980’s Madonna that NO ONE under the age of 40 is even going to recognize. 😂 Then get mad when their masterpiece gets a low score. Just keep the image straightforward and impactful on first glance.
You should do a video of you decorating your dreamsnap this week. Include your starting point, planning, execution of the idea, and how to get the right time of day and angle when taking the pic. Like a whole “how to nail your dreamsnap” video. And maybe wait to post it after you get your results so you can include that at the end of the video.
These tips are on point! I have made similar observations. The only tip I somewhat disagree with is the outdoor vs. indoor tip. I have scored 4000 moonstones on 8 photos. 5 of those were indoors and 3 were outdoors. Of the 3 snaps I got less than 4000, only one of those was indoors. I started playing when the game first came out and had a medical setback in September of 23. I never even got scar. When I came back a few months ago omg SO MUCH more content, characters and I adore the dreamsnap challenges. When I first started I regularly got 3-600 but over time have noticed that staying on theme and making eye catching snaps (that are easily visible) matter a LOT. I've by regularly winning 1,500 and up but wow there are some absolutely BEAUTIFUL snaps and realize most of it is playing around with the angles/mechanics and lighting. Still it's nice to be given a challenge like the backpack and realizing I wasn't going to get the perfect shot of my backpack AND my outfit so I big brained,made a clothing store, dressed 5 mannequins, 2 per outfit one facing front, one back and was able to do THREE of my favorite packs, my very favorite in the front with the mannequin facing away to show off the pack and myself standing next to it to s the show the outfit. Still I struggled with getting the perfect angles so I doubt it will net a high reward and I don't even care.

It is true that outdoor locations tend to be better than indoor locations in your home, but it seems to be an outlier that occasionally someone will do like no decoration at all, take a photo inside the castle or something and get top ten.
I disagree. If I see one in an indoor area that is premade like the restaurant or villager houses. I find that to be extreme lazy. It surprised me how many people during the kitchen challenge, just went to these premade kitchen areas and snapped a shot. Screamed less than minimum effort to me. If you are gonna do an indoor one. At least do it yourself.

People getting like top 10 in a premade location with no decorations. I don't know why, I can't explain it. It seems like it isn't very common, and in general they don't do as well. However, some times people score big doing it.
There's no way everybody gets through every photo or even five percent of forget through every single photo. It shows two at a time this would take months to get through a million photos.. I'm sure some people's aren't even being voted on. So it depends on the order that we are seeing to photos on the screen at a time. Whether it's even gonna be voted for or not.
Awesome video, number 10 is so me I spiral every week for no reason whatsoever, have taught myself not to be disheartened when receiving my rewards, I do get between 2.5k and 4k each week though and at the end of the day I love my submission even though it may not be to everyone elses liking and free moonstones are better than no moonstones, also I think we should be less critical of people's submissions who are we to know who is at the other side submitting them, not everyone is the same ;)
Ok, these are some great tips. Weird thing is even though i don't play DDLV it iust makes to me because i've seen so many Dreamsnap videos at this point. Also nice editing. Love it 👍
Watched the complete Video and I am using all of it in my Submissions. I scored only 300 Moonstones for the Fall Theme. Sunset, Pumpkins, Trees in different Colors, a nice Outfit, a Villager and a Racoon = My favorite Submission ever. And than I saw people done the same in Your Result Discord Video and they ALL got 4000 Moonstones. Maybe next time.
You probably didn't hit the suggested tags. They are worth 20 points of your score. No matter how good your photo is, if you don't get those tags, you are going to be on the bottom. I forgot them once and it was the only time I got 300 moonstones. I usually get 2500 or 4000, so that was a shock.
@@clarebo I always have all 4 Tags! Most of the time 2x-3x what I should have minimum = 12/4 or even 19/4. Something went very wrong, because like You said, it is impossible that I only got 300 for it!

The past couple weeks have been rough with results after putting time and effort into it, but this video has been encouraging to never give up, because any free moonstones are nice! I agree with all of this except the overthinking. Everytime I replaced the original submission, I'm convinced that if I didn't, it wouldnt have done as well. And some of the changes I made was not that different. Something small like a different angle or zooming in more or zooming out more. For example my original critter submission was in my critter pet area and I zoomed out to get as many critters in the shot as possible. But then I decided to zoom more in to my character and the critter i was holding but there was still lot of critters in the shot, just not all. That's the only i changed was the zoom. The reason I think it would have done better than the original is because of one of your tips and that's not having things too zoomed out because people might be voting on a small screen. A tip I have I realized while making the kitchen submission. I made the whole kitchen area 1st then I focused on the actual photo and camera. If your submission is something similar and you make a whole scene for it. Don't just take 1 shot and be done with it and submit. Play around with the camera angle I was surprised to learn that even though i made the whole scene and lot of items have both the required tags, just a slight change in angle could change the amount of tagged items counted significantly. I ended up with a angle I probably would not have thought of doing. But because it got more tagged items. The score was better. One more tip I have is, that might get you better moonstones but it's more for different reasons. Is not to rush to make and/or submit your submission. You have a whole week to do it. Theres so many different reasons too. From your sanity, to finding inspiration if you cant think of something good.
Just letting you know, the pirate outfit theme was the challenge I was able to use all your tips with. Including not using the wide shot bringing it closer to the character and having something in the foreground. And I got one of my worst results yet. So I think I'll not use any tips from anyone and just do it the way I was and get 4000 moonstones
Unfortunately for Switch platforms, our camera angles are limited when getting ready to shoot for dream snaps. You set up nicely, but the image allowance cuts into the frame, no matter which of the 3 you pick, the nicer the view, the worst for the face in your character. And then……photo bombers of other characters that gets into a perfect setting!!!! OMG! So annoying! In addition that we can only decorate in a limit because “Switch” only gets of of decor chances, so you literally have to take down any scene decor you beautify just for stage prop set up, with the additional problem of Scrooge’s inventory, still lacking for missing items of sets. (So vital!). I feel we Switch players are cheated out on FULL game experience and wonky mechanics. If only, like in animal crossing, you can pick up the characters and move them away or place them where you need them instead of dealing with inappropriate dress wear for theme related Dream snaps Challenges. If only the “devs” would look into that problem so the competition “Would be fair”. 😔🧐
I just figured this out! Also on switch and have been complaining that I can’t move my camera in free mode like others and I was just messing around with it and tried using the touch screen and it worked! I was able to move it freely! Literally just figured this out a few minutes ago
As far as photo bombers, there’s a solution. It’s not a great one, but it works. Fence off your photo shoot area. Sometimes this means closing all the entrances to your biome, or closing the half you’re using. To do this, before you enter the biome, use the map to see who’s in there. Plaza and meadow are hard to do this with because there are usually a lot of them, and you have too many d trances. Skull rock area is hard too unless you close the whole east half of the beach. Go into furniture mode and fence off all entrances to the biome you want, even if it has a couple villagers in it. The idea is to close it before more show up, that’s why you do it before YOU enter, because they follow. Then, use the well to enter, find the villagers and one by one, hang out, lead them to the entrance, open fence, kick them out, bid farewell, close fence. Repeat until your workspace is villager free. 😂
Be a female character and you get more. Sent 5 exactly the same challenge and it was 400-800 more moonstones. Even a male copy of a youtuber that always maxes was half the moonstones. Most voters don't care about the challenge, it is about the overall look. There are some who break down an image, but its under 10% of users who really care. This is where people are starting to speculate that more rating of the basic requirements, give you a better score. I attempted max input random placement vs a decent looking picture. The max inputs won overall, even though the other 2 had a better image. This is 5 accounts testing things from my experience.
Do you remember what we used the little island for off the edge with the step stones in the glad of trust. It’s fully south by river mouth on map. When you look at it and compare it to a pic of repunzel house in movie it looks a little like it’s base. The rock behind it, the flower shaped leaves. The grey base. I can’t remember what we did there before though…
Inside is hard but not impossible to rank high. my inside arcade for the rainbow week got in the 200 rank. on the other hand my inside fall snap got 2500 stones and ranked in the 6000 range, probably because for that theme outside just worked better, where rainbow challenge didn't really relate to inside or outside
Great tips to help people take better pictures🥰👍🏽 but unfortunately it doesn’t work it’s just so disappointing that the actual rank is so random I’m thinking its more based on what gets seen more which is unbalanced. For the fall challenge I saw so many OUTSTANDING pictures and they ranked poorly to what they should of but I’ve seen an image with less effort/not great composition win most of the time or often scores higher. We’ve all seen that the system is broken so I don’t think that the image composition matters as not the best picture truly wins or even places high each time therefore it’s not a true representation of the best picture
My biggest problem is the lack of objects or dress, I start play this game in mod august. I raise the amount week by week, today I reached 1200 for the first time! For this week I will try your tips! 😊
I have me er gotten more than 600 moonstones. Hopefully, by following these tips I can get a better ranking and more moonstones. I am not usually the best at decorating since I tend to overthink what I am doing with an area.

Hey ya’ll!! I gotta question about the house skins from last week…I could only afford the Mike & sully apt last week. But it gave me 2 of them, meaning I went to place it down in my plaza & there was another one-like when we’ve bought 10 more vine walls from Scrooge. When we go to place those vine walls, there’s not 10 different vine walls in their own slot, they’re stacked in that one slot. Thanks so much yall for any advice and help with this issue! ~Alli

Yes, I think that's the reason for so many selfies. It's people or kids who don't know about the other camera modes.

When you play this game on switch it doesn’t mean you play it small, I play on a 55inch with my switch. Which is bigger than a pc screen. 😅
Inside is hard but not impossible to rank high. my inside arcade for the rainbow week got in the 200 rank. on the other hand my inside fall snap got 2500 stones and ranked in the 6000 range, probably because for that theme outside just worked better, where rainbow challenge didn't really relate to inside or outside
Great tips to help people take better pictures🥰👍🏽 but unfortunately it doesn’t work it’s just so disappointing that the actual rank is so random I’m thinking its more based on what gets seen more which is unbalanced.
For the fall challenge I saw so many OUTSTANDING pictures and they ranked poorly to what they should of but I’ve seen an image with less effort/not great composition win most of the time or often scores higher. We’ve all seen that the system is broken so I don’t think that the image composition matters as not the best picture truly wins or even places high each time therefore it’s not a true representation of the best picture

The screen size is a really big point. I play on a big tv (xbox) and then download my pictures to mobile to get a different perspective.

I have me er gotten more than 600 moonstones. Hopefully, by following these tips I can get a better ranking and more moonstones. I am not usually the best at decorating since I tend to overthink what I am doing with an area.

The red and gold ones are from the dreamsnaps rewards and when you claim them and the chest is in your inventory you can drop it

They need to disable the selfie pose for dreamsnaps. I never vote for those no matter what. Great tips! I mostly get 4000 moonstones each week thankfully.
I like selfie pose for my own pics - we just need more camera angles because freestyle mode isn't really what it claims to be

What’s tough on the Switch is the free camera mode. It’s pretty much unusable. So I’m stuck using the pose modes which makes me feel limited.

I dont agree with outdoor instead than indoor. Some people do amazing room and rank as high as an outdoor dreamsnap.
I agree, but on average it's easier to score higher with outdoor photo, though it's not impossible to get a good result with indoor photo

Hey ya’ll!! I gotta question about the house skins from last week…I could only afford the Mike & sully apt last week. But it gave me 2 of them, meaning I went to place it down in my plaza & there was another one-like when we’ve bought 10 more vine walls from Scrooge.
When we go to place those vine walls, there’s not 10 different vine walls in their own slot, they’re stacked in that one slot.

Ive never seen anyone’s picture that stream there videos live to vote for. And I watch 3-4 diff ppl.
Let's do an experiment next time, I won't do a dreamsnap during the stream and let's see how it does
Don't think it counts towards much. First you'll have to get that his submission and even if people vote for it, it's a small number compared to the votes of millions of players who don't watch his videos
