how is it fake? It's the same species of plant, made the same traditional way. They just can't sell it by its regional name since it was cultivated outside the region and country it is licensed through. Same goes with wine and any other regional spirit. That's why they are forced to call it agave spirit.

It’s not mezcal either. That name is reserved for a certain amount of states in Mexico.
