Sally Field aced this scene. M'Lynn knew that the clock was ticking. Shelby was going to get her baby, but she was going to bury hers, and it all went across her face in a second. Well played.
I think this movie kinda goes into the selfishness of people. I get she wanted to have her OWN baby and experience that feeling, she was scared her husband was gonna leave her but he made it so clear they could adopt plenty of babies, her selfishness is what killed her in the end, because now the child is without a mother, husband is now widowed and her parents have to bury a child. Lost more than gained. 💔
In real life, Susan died because she was given full anesthesia when they were putting in a port for dialysis and her heart stopped. She wasn't supposed to even have full anesthesia! This is just a movie version
Pretty sure from watching the movie and what Ive read otherwise that Shelby was very much a brittle diabetic..nowadays we have the insulin pumps which manage the disease so much more closely and helps to avoid a lotnof the issues. However my neohews wife was diabetic and her second child literally almsot died at birth because she had been supporting the moms insulin production while in utero and it nearly killed her
Yes it was but her maternal instincts kicked in as did m'lynn's LOL Shelby wanted to be a mother! I can totally understand BOTH perspectives because seven years ago I had my first and only child! I've always wanted to be a mom and even tho I'm not sickly like Shelby I was born with a mild cerebral palsy and my mom was worried but both me and my son are awesome (he's autistic tho! He's a premie too!)
She portrayed a reckless child full of wishful thinking, love and hope for a future where she could overcome all odds to make her dreams come true. Like so many young adults before and after her. Her crime was being one of them. That's all. She really believed she could live and endure anything for her child, and if only it was only a matter of will, she surely could manage that. But it never was.
Now when I go back and watch this , I think she should have stopped at 1 and adapted more but her personality made her believe she could do it again a second time.

"I'd rather have 30 mins of wonderful than a lifetime of nothing special" ❤

She wouldn't be able to adopt one cause of her health condition . That was mentioned . And surrogacy probably wasn't an option back then , or ivf .
I love Julia Roberts ❤❤❤
Shelby/Julia has health issues and wasn't supposed to get pregnant. Pregnancy poses a serious threat on her life
Aww, thank you
Yeah, she ended up dying.

Julia Robert’s ❤
One of the best movies ever.

That was an irresponsible decision 🤦🏼♀️

She's super diabetic in this movie and isn't supposed to get pregnant
What was the point of have a child if you weren’t going to be around d to raise it???

She thought she was invincible, she thought she wouldn't die.

@@ADDrecords😮I also read that the husband remarried quickly.
What movie is it
As a diabetic I would never watch this movie. Totally not real to life .
Shelby was a real person. this is a reenactment. what are you talking about?
Y’all will say anything! 🤣🤣🤣 you’re literally watching a clip lol
This was based on a true story
I get what you’re saying. It perpetuates the stigma that people with diabetes shouldn’t have children, when there is likely much more nuance.
