The honesty in Martin talking about "How not to drown" is why interviews/podcasts/epidodics etc. are so good for us to understand just how much these insanely talented artists are still just dealing with the same Sh!t the rest of us deal with. Appreciate you putting this together for us
this album is everything to me rn, the horror tropes peppered throughout, the trauma and resolution; the most emotionally heavy album they've made, a wonderful concept album, a soundtrack to the horror movie which is my head
10:30 I canNOT believe Martin mentions "Music for the Jilted Generation" by The Prodigy is an influence for both him and Iain when talking bout Violent Delights. I friggin love that Prodigy record. I remember hearing "Voodoo People" and "One Love" in the movie Hackers back in the mid-90s, so good. And I hear the influence on Violent Delights. Chvrches hit a home run with this album.
Fuck yes man! I was just showing the song today to my friends and when they said those "drums" sounded like crap I was like "these tards havent heard Prodigy"... YASSSSSS I got it right goddamit!
@@KeMeEscupaUnPollo Like crap? Are these ppl still your friends? ;) lol j/k I saw on their Reddit AMA that Martin also said that the sound of breaking glass in one of the songs on Screen Violence is in tribute to the song "Break and Enter" from the same album.
my favorite album of the year so far. It's surpassed all my expectations. I really can't find the words to express what these guys and their music mean to me ❤️ thank you
As one of the apparently few people who liked the more pop-like direction CHVRCHES took with Love is Dead, I wasn't expecting to really like this album when I heard it was a lot grittier than their previous work. I should have never doubted them. Screen Violence is now my favorite album, and I don't mean CHVRCHES album.
I don't love the third album, but it got a lot me people around me to start listening to this band, so I'm thankful to have it. Also, "Get Out" and "Never Say Die" are awesome.
@@citizenkaneVII My brother told me about this band a long time ago, but I totally forgot about it until Never Say Die came up on my UA-cam feed sometime in 2018 shortly after Love is Dead was released. That was song that led me to look into their other discography, and CHVRCHES has even my favorite band ever since.
Also I remember I heard Lauren once say in an interview that after the guardian article first came out and it was all anyone wanted to talk about they had like an argument about it. And I remember thinking oh no do the guys not get it, but from this interview they so do. Like men never really seem to get it but Iain and Martin just seem to understand. I love that.
I know Lauren said that nightmares is the only song that’s actually about relationships but honestly better if you don’t hits me so hard for that, I guess it’s the concept of a place in time, that can be a relationship, but that song just hits me in a different way
it's interesting that Lauren says that HSSS and Good Girls "aren't in the horror space so much" because gaslighting and toxic gender dynamics are themes that for me feature heavily in horror
wow. all the sudden Chvrches are all over the place. theyre on t.v. , on the internet , etc etc.. Ive only seen one bad review on this album and several positive reviews, one review called this new album a 'masterpiece'
This record feels a lot deeper than the others. I really enjoyed how they were teasing it on social media beforehand with all the cult and horror movie references. Totally fits the vibe.
@@scninja07 im even kinda wanting to rent some horror flicks which is not my genre lol. but yes ive read a number of comments saying this record is "deeper" , i personally dont feel that, yet - but i need to listen to it more to really know...
Awesome talk about the thought process for each track, was fun to gain insight into. However, I'm a bit confused regarding what Lauren said for "He Said She Said" and "Nightmares". For "HSSS" she says the track focuses on personal experiences in relationships, but when she talks about "Nightmares" she says that track is the only one on the album that is actually about a relationship. I'm assuming she meant that "HSSS" is discussing experiences in relationships in a broad-ish sense while "Nightmares" is discussing more specific details from a particular relationship of hers. Idk, just was a bit confusing to me.
i’m not sure if my response will suffice but imo HSSS definitely isn’t about relationships themselves. the ‘personal experiences’ lauren mentioned must have something to do with mansplaining (hence the title he said she said) or the ridiculous remarks she received from men in her life ("It's all in your head", “be sad but don’t be depressed”). i strongly agree with your assumption though. he said she said seems to capture a broader female experience, and nightmare carries a more confessional, intimate tone.
1:37 "Obviously, there's nothing wrong with me - I'm perfect."
Lauren's just speaking facts there.
i know trip9 , Lauren is perfect . she's not corrupted like 95% of the other pop stars

Love Martin's honesty about mental health issues. Fabulous work on this album as per.
What a 'real' group of people in this band. It's one of the reasons (aside from talent) their music is amazing.
My absolute favorite album this year... Deserves way more recognition.... Nice to see the people that do listen to it as realize how special it is.
My favorite album by them so far my expectations were smashed with this record Chvrches are in there prime and here for it!!

Iain's laugh gave me 10 years of life
The depth of the record is dark yet inspiring. Beautiful!!!!! She’s such wisdom!!! ❤️
The whole album is just banger after banger. All killer, no filler. Such a great album.
Love this. Best album of the year right here.
This was awesome. Thank god for the internet. And of course, thanks again Chvrches. You nailed it!

Violent delights ♥️♥️♥️
I'm just saying - Ian is the only one with 1080p camera quality.
Chvrches...... forever the best music for my soul... I love them so much 😘 😘 😘 😘 😘 😘 😘 😘 😘 😘, specially Miss Lauren Mayberry 😘 😘 😘 😘 😘

Album is amazing. Just missing a track from Martin 😉
Great album. Voilent delights really stands out as my favourite track. Can't wait to see these guys live next march
New record is amazing
2nd track is head banger for sure.
Damn they're so cool
Much appreciated!!!
this was awesome, love all the backstory to the album. This album is great IMO, it really is leaps n bounds better than LID.

8:19 bruh i was just listening to Englishman in New York earlier today lol
LOL love the reference by her of the Sting song.
Lauren love
I seriously would like to know whom the one (1) person was that gave a thumbs down to this song...
18:18 I always thought this song was very personal for
Iain.

23:45 isn’t little by little a Radiohead song
Too bad Martin didn’t sing on a track this time
Hopefully he’ll duet on tour with How Not To Drown 🙏🙏🙏
this video is amazing but cutting out the "again" at the end is a crime against humanity
i'm finding that if i skip the 3 pre released tracks it flows better not that not good songs you just get a better vibe this one's gone to age well
Great video but terrible editing, way too loud music that suddenly appears and you need to lower the volume to avoid deaf
We need better if you don't hardbass edition
