hopefully there will be enough ports coming withe the Macmini. It would not make much sense to reduce the size of the Macmini and same time make it necessary having to use an Thunderbold-Hub in order to get more ports. The Macmini is made to use as a main computer in your home. So size does not matter but ports do!
Thanks Craig. Your weekly updates save me a ton of time browsing the web. It's also interesting to hear your opinions on what's valuable, not worth it, etc.
Smaller is not better, I totally agree, but surprisingly heat dissipation could be even better on a smaller device, empty space inside could interfere with the airflow, also they can use the outside of the device as a heat dissipation so making it smaller might be necessary if internal parts shrink. I just want 5 USBc ports, ethernet, HDMI and 2 Display ports, which needs space, also I hate power bricks so the power supply that needs space. So yeah making it smaller for just that reason and no real reason is stupid.
Why would they separate a Pro and Base model Mini? Because the Pro would likely need a fan to cool the larger chip's die and the deal with the presumed heavier workload, while the Base version, like the Air and the iPad, would not need active cooling, and would simply clock throttle a bit if it gets too hot under an unexpected and infrequent heavy user load.
I think it's similar than that. They want to get the base model out soon but can't release the Pro model until the MacBook Pros ship later this year as they always release the Pro chip with the MacBook Pros.
Also what do you think is the better deal. The M1 iPad Air for $399 or the 10th gen iPad for $299. I've seen these prices pop up on Amazon and Best Buy as well.
I mean the M1 iPad is better and if you are interested in Apple Intelligence on that device it is a good choice. If you just want it for very basic stuff then the $299 option is also fine.
No, that is the way it was listed in the article. It listed both values for some reason so the numbers are accurate. It listed Yuan also and it's still $3.50 per hour.
@@craigneidel I think you’re right. I just read that they may be getting rid of them, since the ports would be all crammed together. There might not even be a fan. I wish they would’ve waited until next year to ruin it. It looks like I’ll be forever stuck with windows. With my luck, if I bought a new windows PC tomorrow, they’ll end up announcing that all the ports will still be on the Mac minis. I hope we get some guaranteed details soon.
I didn't realize the superdrive was still being sold. I bought one from ebay a year or so ago. Your public library is a great source of DVD's. Rip and watch later for free.
I love the Mac Mini! ❤ It was the first Mac I ever had! I would even go as far as to say I like it more than the Mac Studio nowadays because it’s so cute and small, and you can easily put it in a backpack! I haven’t had one in a long time, though. I’m seriously thinking about getting the new one!
They are nice but most really don't travel with them but I guess you could. They should be pretty powerful with the M4 so give it a try and I'm sure you will like them. Thanks for watching.
@@craigneidel lots of people travel with my guy! 👍🏻 much easier than traveling with a iMac, which people do that too. People don’t use them for the things you stated though. They’re not meant for big work loads I have traveled with my Mac mini everywhere and so do my friends you can easily put it in a backpack, especially since the new one is gonna be the size of the Apple TV, which is even smaller. You can even put it in a drawstring bag. because they are truly fantastic machines. I always tell people if you want something with more power just get the Mac studio.
Yes, I know some do but Apple only sells about 1 to 2 percent Mac minis vs all other Macs so the people who travel with them is a very very small group. But I know you can do that.
I think the mac mini m4 will be first and knowing how Apples does things, they'll introduce M4 mac mini as amazing, then bam, in a few months, that M4 mac mini (M4 Pro chip) will be competing against the M4 Max (mac studio) like it did during the M2 period which to me, NEVER MADE SENSE, since the M2 Max base cost the same as the mac mini M2 Pro base and the M2 Max mac studio was far better in almost everything, including heating. I do look forward to it if it ends up looking like an Apple TV box lol. An actual mini desktop!
I've watched video where people who work in those conditions like in China live in places that I'd say is worse than a hostel. Where they pretty much live in closet sized rooms. Some I believe are like living in hallways where your "room" is sectioned off with whatever divider. And some have cages as walls.
Apple will be fine. They likely already have a search engine ready to go, not to mention being well aware of this potential situation for years, possibly from the moment the deal with Google was struck. Google on the other hand stands to lose a lot of web traffic.
I wouldn't spend $20 a month on Apple AI, as I'd barely even use it. I don't even pay for that Chat GPT or whatever it is. And I don't pay even though I'd like to check out those AI programs that create AI art for you. I think that could be interesting for creating memes and things. And maybe help you do photoshop type stuff real easy. But even then, I probably wouldn't pay for it as I'd barely use it.
I would easily pay $10 more depending on features, especially if it allows me to stop paying another provider but Apple is so locked down it will be mostly a consumer fun toy. But I use AI a lot and already pay over $200 a month for AI..ouch but video is pricey now and I have unlimited plans and use the API on some. AI changes everything, most are not even aware of what is to come, it's mind boggling. Photoshop will disappear, most programs will disappear, you will just converse with multiple agents, I do full Excel sheets by just talking to the AI like I would talk to my employee, I was shocked how good it was. I no longer need to hire people...doing things with spreadsheets that is now shockingly easy, that is sad, but true. Look at flux that was just released, doesn't make photoshop easy, it almost eliminates it, give it another year. Trust me, you take a picture on your iPhone and you will not need photoshop to do anything, AI will do absolutely any and all edits by just requests, change your smile, cloths, location, focus...even take your picture and make entirely new images add text make a magazine covers, still images into full video... stuff is moving sooooo fast. Adobe and its programs are moving fast into AI, it knows it's on the ropes.
@@TheFeedRocket What AI program do you recommend that say, you can highlight an area like a defect, and it will automatically remove it like it wasn't there? I generally use the clone tool brush to paint it out, but it gets tricky depending on whats going on around the defect. And what AI program would you recommend to generate images? I use to make memes many years ago, but it was time consuming with the Photoshop and none of them went viral, so I quit. I play guitar, and I'd love to one day to record all of my thousand riffs, feed it into an AI program, and it generate audio with brand new riffs in my style. That would be interesting.
No not true. Look at article. Geez. I hate wasting my time answering these. It lists yuan too and it's low. I checked both and it's 3.56 or whatever I said.

Yeah, I hope too that the ports are not affected. And the older size was fine in my opinion as it was already quite small.
Great review!!!!!

I’m sure all heat tests and any issues were addressed in the build process. Offering inferior products isn’t Apples thing.🎉
The Mac mini is way too big already, it was kept at the same size to fit in standard racks at Amazon web services.
I agree it can be too small and the size now is fine.

I bought a Apple External Dv for $99.00 about 10 years ago for my iMac 27" late 2013 still works
If it still works then no need to upgrade.
I'm really interested in the new Mac mini, assuming the rumors are correct.
Yeah I may pick one up too.
Hi Craig, Enjoying the show. I noticed you compared South Korean Won to US Dollar. Did you mean Chinese Yuan to US Dollar?

When can I put dollars on table and BUY Mini M4???
Hopefully before November 1
Hopefully the Mac mini still has the 2 USB-A ports for a plug-in mouse and keyboard.
I think that might be going away but we will see.
