RWBY Theory - What happened to Summer Rose?

- Summer Rose is someone crucial to Ruby's motivation and likely to the plot of the RWBY series overall. And yet we know so little about her, her history, and the final mission she went on. There are so many questions surrounding her and I think now is a good time to discuss the possibilities surrounding Summer Rose. Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!

Summer is alive, and faked her death to hide.
Levvy I agree. But I also think it’s possible that Salem captured her. That’s why she wants ruby alive; she wants to collect silver eyed warriors for an army. This is just a theory though.

I am unsure, but I tend to favour this theory also. Perhaps she is in hiding as some kind of secret weapon, by her choice or in secrecy with someone else. I admit it, I'm an old softy. Unlike apparently 90% plus of RWBY commentators, I don't want to see these kids constantly suffering. I want them to have more happy moments and in the end I want Summer, Ruby, Yang, Tai and Qrow to be alive and live happily ever after as a family again.

If they can give us STRQ backstory and explain summers disappearance in a way that isn’t BS then I’ll be one happy boi. ;)

A Team STRQ flashback episode would answer a multitude of questions and would be an information dump revaling or even exceeding the one we got in 6x3. I have been looking forward to it ever since that after credit scene in V5 showing Raven going back to Tai. I was hoping that might be grounds for such a flashback if they meet and talk. Alas, of course, they weren't so much as mentioned in V6.

Your video gave me an sudden realization about Summer's apparent ambigous fate. If you pay attention to *Red Like Roses. Part 2.* this give us an side about Summer's feelings and thougts about her daughter. And possible give us an idea about what happened to her during said secret mission.
*I never planned that I would leave you there alone.*
*I was sure that I would see you when I made it back home.*
*And all the times I swore that it would be okay.*
*Now I'm nothing but a liar, and you're thrown into the fray.*
While she didn't tell anyone about her secret mission. Probably she bid goodbye to her daughters and made a promise to come back safely. However, the following sentences made clears that Summer has met an mishap through her journey. Possible trapped on a unknow place or this is her soul expelling her sadness that couldn't said to her family?
*This bedtime story ends with misery ever after.*
*The pages are torn, and there's no final chapter.*
*I didn't have a choice, I did what I had to do.*
*I made a sacrifice, but forced a bigger sacrifice on you*
This last line struck me, meaning that Summer tried to prevent something and yet ultimatly failed. Thus by a cruel twist of fate, this burden, to save the world or to defeat Salem, has fallen under Ruby's shoulders. Another key word is "choice", one of the main themes that is talked through the series.
*I know you've lived a nightmare.*
*I caused you so much pain.*
*But, baby, please don't do what I did.*
*I don't want you to waste your life in vain.*
Maybe at some point, she told her daughter to don't become an huntress and to live an normal life? Or to just repear her same mistakes?
You make some very good points. I took a closer look at Red Like Roses 2 as well and I definitely agree with you. It does seem like she made a promise to come back but something happened that prevented her from returning and now the burden falls on Ruby. Thank for sharing your thoughts!
Either sounds like the burden of maidenhood, which would've been apparent even before Beacon if that was the case, or working for Oz as a silver eyed warrior, maybe that's why Rae left? When Oz sent Summer on a silver eyed mission that was too much?

Never liked the theory about Summer Rose being a Maiden, doesn't make any sense, because she should have been under Ozpin's watching eye even before Beacon. At least for me, this theory doesn't make sense to me.
As for Raven's choice to leave her family behind, my take is that when she discovered about the truth about Salem's immortality. She decided to go back to old (unhealthy) habits, that's why she returned to her tribe and constantly raiding villages, to gain some sense of control over her life. And upon discovering about Summer's death was another reason to distrust Ozpin. As Qrow stated, nobody seems to known about Summer's secret mission, not Tai Yan or Ozpin himself.
Maybe she went to try and face Salem alone?

I feel yang birthday is the one thing that would confirm whether or not they are actually sisters since the timing around Ruby's conception if tai was her father is within roughly 3 months of raven leaving after yang turned 1 so if yangs birthday is confirmed and the timing doesn't add up it would somewhat confirm qrow is Ruby's dad

It's fairly simple to find out what happened to Summer if you just listen to Red Like Roses 2 and watch the ending for the fall of beacon episode. Summer went after Salem (which Salem confirms) and she (Summer) failed.
The question is, how and/or what are the details of that failure. Dead? Captured? Frozen as a trophy? Transformed into something else? Brainwashed to do Salem's bidding?
@Aiden Adams A sound theory it is. Qrow also confirmed, thanks to that little talk with Ruby, that Summer did (1v1 Salem?) on her own without direction from anyone. Which begs to wonder, exactly how much did she know about Salem to think she would have a chance against her? I am guessing that as in other situations, Oz left out the 'Salem can't die' detail. Only brought team STRQ up to the same info level as his other lieutenants. (Raven is the one who said she wanted to know more, and thus discovered the 'immortal' part.)
I have another theory to compliment yours. Those cracks, or fractures in Salem's skin, could they be the result of an encounter with Summer? She did not have them in the info dump of 6x3 and it never showed how she got them.
Could it be Summer was able to damage Salem causing a permanent disfigurement?
One thing I don’t understand is during Volume 6 when ruby is using her eyes to stop the leviathan. Summer Rose shows up... but didn’t Yang say that Ruby was too young to understand. So, if ruby was so young then how come she had a visual of Summer?
Another thing, is that Summer was a 3D model. I don’t think Rooster teeth would make a 3D model without reasoning. So, perhaps she’s still alive. 🤔🤔
3D models can be used for flash backs. Like for “The Lost Fairytale” or Volume 5 shorts.
As for Ruby having a memory of Summer Phoenix says that Ruby was 2-4 when Summer disappeared. It’s likely the latter of the two. I have memories of when I was 4. Bit a lot but people tend to remember the most important ones.
Taiyang likely has pictures of summer so even if ruby was to young to remember what summer looked like before she disappeared sh would still know what her mother looks like.
I heard a theory that when Jinn said “Now while you don’t SEEK knowledge, just this once I will give it freely...” and the free knowledge was that new vision of Summer, which is why it was an actual moving scene rather than a picture like the other flashbacks Ruby had.
@@AsianRevelation1 I know this is a really old comment, but I agree with you. The simple solution is most likely the correct solution. Summer went into hiding, either after learning something, or finding out she was hunted. She ensured Salem thought she was dead as well. I also always found that line from Jinn odd, and it was obvious ruby was failing to release her power until the scene with her mom, and we know the knowledge jinn shares is always in motion format whereas ruby's memories have always been pictures.

That sounds interesting. Clearly, Salem knows something about Ruby that deserves an audience and not instant death because of her eyes.

What if Summer rose fell into the pool of darkness when fighting Salem? Also they never said what would happen if a silver-eyed warrior fell into the pool of darkness.
That or she was the last of silver-eyed warriors. And she did what Luke did after episode 6, finding information about SEW.

I believed she was killed by one of Salem's minions and also I believe she was guarding the Crown of Choice volunteering to look after it for Ozpin. That's why I believe the relic its not in Beacon. Meaning its in her grave.

Graven Wolf Monty never said she was Summer Maiden tho. Yea, she said she was dead, but he never said she was the Summer Maiden. Please stop spreading misinformation! Also things can change, Monty might’ve said she was dead *at one point* but he could’ve changed his mind later or had a secret about her being alive, that would’ve been revealed later on in the series. It’s very bold of you to assume what Monty wanted.

I would just like to point out. Ruby's question to Jin was "What is Ozpin hiding from us". Jin said nothing about Summer, so therefore Oz does not know what happened to her.
I feel like that would be a more personal question and be completely unrelated to the situation at hand. He was keeping much bigger details away from the group beyond Summer’s fate. Maybe he doesn’t know what happened to Summer but maybe he does, I think Jinn followed the specific connotation behind Ruby’s request, knowledge beneficial to the whole group
I think she was hunted by Salem and fakes her own death in order to protect Ruby. At the beginning of the series, Ozpin seemed surprised that Ruby also has silver eyes. It seemed like Summer didn't want Ruby following I her footsteps and was trying to shelter her.

When they asked Jinn what Ozpin was hiding, Summer's death would have been included if he knew. Because its something he is hiding?
MVX I wouldn’t think so. Oz is likely hiding a lot of things. I think Jinn knew Ruby’s question was directed to what Oz was hiding at the time.
Oh yeah, Oz knew exactly who Ruby was at their first meeting. He of course knew Qrow and the rest of Team STRQ so I'm sure he passively knew who Ruby and Yang were. Maybe even keeping Tabs on their progress at Signal Academy. Of letting her into Beacon early was a non-issue for him.

I don't believe that Summer used the question by Raven opening the gate since in volume 5 Raven's behaviour tell that's the first time she went there. I can't prove it but acording to people Rooster Teeth confirmed that Ruby is Taiyang and Summer's child and that Summer is dead. There's just not enough evidence about anything related to the past😢

I realized after posting the video that if Summer went after the relic of knowledge, she would have encountered the Spring maiden 2 before Raven. I agree we desperately need a STRQ background
Oh good. I was expecting you to do this one soon. I had a theory for you on this as well. I believe we can confirm that Summer did indeed die in some manner. The main reason being Raven. We know that Raven can form bonds to people and open portals to them. It is certain that she would have bonded with Summer just as she did the rest of her team. Raven likely having 6 bonds that we know of. Summer, Qrow, Tai, Yang, Ozpin, and Vernal. We can also surmise that Raven can sense when a person is in danger. As she would have no other way to know Yang was about to be killed on the train otherwise. So she must have some manner of sensory perception regarding her bonds. As such Raven should be able to open a portal to Summer as she does everyone else. As I believe she opened a portal to Tai from the vault simply because she had no other portal outside the immediate area.
And given how Raven appears to be grieving in her own say. Showing up on Summer's birthday and being upset. I think it is fair to say that Raven found she could no longer form a portal to Summer and thus confirmed she is dead. Or changed in some manner to alter her Aura and break the connection they had. But either way Raven is to me more or less proof that something happened to Summer that at the least 'killed' her if not legit took her life.
That makes a lot of sense. Raven would have had a portal and I didn't consider that Raven showing up on Summers birthday being upset the way she was could have been related to her missing Summer. Great catch, thanks for posting this!
Phoenix/Night I'm really happy you enjoyed that one. I figure her bonds must be connected to Aura. If she can't feel the aura. She can't make a portal.
And yeah I figure she is lashing out at Ruby for what they were saying. The way Qrow spoke. Raven and Summer seemed to have a relationship paralleling Yang and Ruby.
Even more so is like mother like daughter. Remmeber how upset Yang acted in regards to Blake leaving her in volume 5.
All that lashing out because she missed her.
Phoenix/Night Oh and one more thing I wanted to add. Think about Raven's semblance. For all her talk about strength and being alone and running away. Why would she form a semblance letting her get straight to anyone she cares about? Raven talks and acts differently. To me it seems like Raven somehow found out the truth about Salem and clearly felt betrayed by Oz just as everyone does now. She begged Tai Qrow and Summer to come with her but she refused. She may have even tried to take Yang with her but Summer begged her not to do that. Not to leave and take Yang. So she willingly let Summer and Tai care for Yang in her place and bitterly watched them from afar. Which is why she constantly appeared around Yang as a raven. Sadly watching over the family that would not listen to her and she grew more and more bitter in her lonliness to look after the tribe that raised her. Even takeing in the young scared spring maiden and trying to raise her and teach her. Raven did kill her. But I truly believe she did see it as a mercy. And likely didn't expect to become the maiden. Not seeing how attached to her the previous maiden was. Vernal even willingly chose to pose as her decoy and be the maiden in Raven's place to protect her. Vernal devoted everything for Raven and losing her clearly hurt her. Raven I'd absolutely skewed in her perceptions of strength and family. But even now a lot of it is a front. She even admitted to it when Yang said. "You weren't kind this time." Raven says "I know" as if Raven felt she needed this cold front to make Yang listen and open her eyes.
I mean summer legit slept with her bf not long after she separated from her bf, if that doesn't strain a bond I don't know what does,it feels like she always had feelings for someone else's guy, then didnt hesitate when he became available despite being "friends".... a more tragic variation would be raven had a bond strong enough to know summer was in trouble, but due to her feelings it wasn't strong enough to create a portal thus her friend dying over her petty jealousy, now that would eat at me for awhile if i were her, she didn't hate summer, but she couldn't forgive her either

I have 2 theories 1: Summer was never dead and i believe that Raven knows where she is and what happened and helped her dissappear and 2 the maiden powers she got was taken by Raven through her "mercy kill" that she told Yang about at the fall of Beacon.🎅

We should have a spinoff movie for STRQ like how Star Wars did it with Rogue One. I know a movie isn't really a good idea but it would be enough for us to know more about what exactly happened to Summer and why she (if not dead) disappeared. But i digress, it's just an idea i had in mind

@@willysalvato4441 Summer disappeared when Ruby was too young to really remember her so yeah that's an issue with that idea. Ruby and Yang had to ask Qrow what weapon Summer used and Qrow didn't give a direct answer so it implies neither of them know what weapon Summer used
RWBY Lyrics tend to reflect on the series itself. Red Like Roses Pt2 states:
"I never planned that I would leave you there alone
I was sure that I would see you when I made it back home"
Which implies that Summer did not flee or have any intention of doing so.
A real hint comes from the lines:
"But, baby, please don't do what I did
I don't want (I don't want, I don't want)
You to waste your life in vain"
Implying that she did something reckless, but maybe didn't realize her folly at the time.
Your interpretation of what the lyrics mean makes no sense

I agree with the leaving to protect Ruby Yang and Tai from people like Toc
I'm leaning towards the idea that Summer might have made a deal with Salam behind Ozpin's back. If they did make a deal it would make sense to why Salam wants Ruby alive even though she wanted other silver eyed warriors such as Maria dead, because Summer would want to protect her daughter and Salam tells her followers that the key to their desires if through herself.
I think summer is alive but searching for other silver eyes and hiding them until they can become an army of Light against the darkness! Maybe she suspected that the Grimm Reaper had silver eyes and so when the Reaper disappeared she realized that silver eyes were being hunted. So she made it her mission to find and save any other silver eyes. Maybe her semblance was Disguise, and maybe with practice, she can hide or disguise others.
I really don’t think Summer was a Maiden, I think she is hiding due to finding out something even Ozpin doesn’t know.
I think the Maiden Powers and the Silver Eye's can not coexist together.
Salem said *"it is because of the Maiden Powers"* that made Cinder vulnerable to the Power of the Silver Eye's....
Actually it is because cinder used a grim to absorb the maiden power. And as proof, Raven wasn't affected by it in v5 e11
I thought it was due to the grim arm that made her part grim. Now her arm is vulnerable to the silver eyes. The grim arm is the sacrifice Cinder made to get the maiden powers?

@@arctic9725 yeah she is affected by the silver eyes but if you remember at the end of volume 3 ruby hurt cinder and took her arm and eye without cinder being fused with a grimm.
This also brings up a theory I have that since the maidens use magic and magic is a gift from the god of darkness, but since the silver eyes are a gift from the god of light and they destroy grimm and the grimm were created by the god of darkness they would be capable of damaging the maidens maybe outright kill them
I am suspicious as to whether or not Summer is still alive, but either way, I do believe that Raven knows more than she's letting on. I suspect that the two went after Salem together and it didn't go well for them. Qrow said that he, Tai and Oz were in the dark about it, he didn't mention Raven. I don't believe that Amber is connected in any way though unless for whatever reason she was with Summer and Raven, Summer dies and passes the power onto Amber, which Raven would not have liked, that a relative stranger was picked over her own teammate.
I think he didnt mention Raven because she had already left before Summer disappeared. I do agree though I think Raven does know something. "You sound just like your mother."

Does no one remember that episode at the end of season 3 when yang was lecturing raven and asked her something along the lines of " so who was the maiden before you anyways" and raven looked away in guilt and then yang said something like "😱 you foul human"
what if she found out that the silver eyes can destroy Salem
But then I would ask why keep that a secret from Ozpin? If it is true then there has to be an extra detail about why she went alone.
I don't think the effect of the Silver Eyes can destroy Salem outright. We've seen that effect work against Grimm, and against Cinder, who's had Grimm grafted onto her body. It MIGHT weaken Salem, as she did cast herself into the pool that the God of Destruction raised the grim from. That, combined with her being immersed in the God of Light's pools, has given her both immortality and influence over both forces of destruction (the Grimm) and creation. If the Silver Eyes DO have any effect on her, it would be possible the effect weakens Salem enough to the point she might be killed by a more mortal/conventional way. Which might explain why Salem wants anyone with the Silver Eye trait killed outright.
I backed off of that idea when Salem told Tyrian to bring Ruby before her, Alive.
If it is possible for Salem to be harmed or is afraid of the Silver Eyes, why would she want to see Ruby before her. I would want to keep such an individual as far away as possible, as well as have them dispatched as soon as they are discovered.
I don't think Silver Eyes would affect Salem directly. I think she is concerned about what Silver Eyes does to her grimm creations.
It is possible that Ruby is a link or key to something, someone, some event that can cause Salem harm.
@@DocMicrowave Remember, Salem told Tyrian to bring her Ruby, and this was BEFORE Ruby even had any idea she had the ability given by the Silver Eyes trait. Strategic thinking on her part. Get ahold of Ruby BEFORE she can control her power, and she can either kill her or even attempt to convert her to her side.
@@SSobotkaJr I did speculate at one time on why Salem wanted Ruby alive. The reasons I came up with where:
- She wanted to capture her and make an example of her to Oz before killing her.
- She wanted to try and see if she can break Ruby. Turn her to the Darkside as it were. Again thumbing her nose at Oz. "Turned one of your lieutenants, now one of your maidens."
- She was angered or even hurt by Summer and wants to take it out on Ruby
Basically, to sum up, if Salem gets ahold if Ruby, it will be torture. I even had thoughts that if Ruby where capture along with friends (say, JNR), that part of breaking Ruby's spirit would be to make her watch as she tortured and killed a friend .
Oooh what if when team rwby finally goes to fight Salem, ruby finds summer rose locked up? That would be crazy!!!

What if Summer Rose got injured badly in the face and had to go through facial surgery that changed her look completely. She could be introduced to us as another character. Maybe someone that works with Lil Miss Malachite (i don't know how to spell her)
Interesting idea, it would probably have to be tied in with memory loss for Summer not to go back to her family.

Someone or a group is collecting silver eyes. Lionheart (already dead though). Salem just hunts them down to kill them. Maybe a group or team of silver eyes (Grim Reaper spin offs) to create protection through numbers. Or a force to neutralize Salem.
I think that if she did die as a maiden the person in her head in her final moments would be ruby as shes her daughter, I doubt that though

Hi, Phoenix, very interesting video. So... the only part i think is actually wrong is Raven being already the Spring Maiden at the time. If i'm not wrong, Leo said the previous one left ten years before canon( RWBY wiki says so as well, if i remember bad, i apologies), so Summer should have died a couple of years before that.
Aniway... i don't personally think Summer was a Maiden. I want to think she was just an incredibly powerful warrior, since is what Ruby and probably the rest of her team should aspire to be( personally, i haven't a lot of respect for the Maidens. Their magic so far seems mostly like an overrated borrowed power. I want to see people surpass them thanks to Aura and skill alone). If she was a Maiden, at this point probably Qrow would confess it and with Pyrrha already in Cinder's killcount i don't think new drama on that regard is necessary. Certain things went differently trough, i wouldn't deny is a fascinating concept. Still thinking also Qrow and Summer were a thing, especially if she turns out to be alive, since the only one who said so far Tai remarried with her was Yang and her memories of the time shouldn't be that great of a source.
Trough the part about the first question is really plausible, it could also be the main reason Leo was so hollow. Maybe she confessed it to Raven for a reason for another. And tought Silver Eyes were still the key to defeat or at least making Salem harmless, so she was searching more information about her ancestors. Hope you like this.
You are definitely correct that the Spring maiden left Leo's care about 10 years before the canon of the show. I mentioned in the video that we aren't sure exactly how the timelines line up which I intended to mean that it may have taken over a year to get to Haven and find the maiden. I am realizing now though that when the Spring maiden abandoned her duties it was due to her being a new maiden. This means that something happened to the previous Spring maiden which may tie in to Summer's last mission.
I definitely agree with your thoughts that it will be much better to see characters surpass maiden magic with Aura mastery. I still wonder why Qrow hasn't said anything about Summer to Ruby, it just seems odd but I am completely ok with Summer not being a maiden, we just need an explanation.

I like that theory. Maybe she tried to 1v1 Salem and got her memory erased tho that wouldn’t make sense. If she did 1v1 Salem, Salem would have probably killed her but maybe cuz of her silver eyes she weakened Salem seeing as Salem is still a person and not Grimm. Maybe Salem realised that due to her silver eyes that she couldn’t kill summer and wiped her memory to serve her instead?

Years ago, I had a theory that Summer was Salem. I discussed it with some friends, we all agreed it made some sense. However, with the reveal of Salem's backstory in Volume 6, that theory was crushed. I am now back to square one, with little information to go on about her. However, with no definite proof of her death in the show, I still hold out hope that she is alive somewhere.
I think Summer is alive and kept prisoner in Salem’s castle but her crew doesn’t know about it and they will eventually find her and there will be a story line ( I hope)
I actually want an episode or flash back of Summer or maybe STRQ having a battle together in a flashback instead

I think that Summer maybe held as a prisoner with Salem or actually died by Salem because in Volume 7 Salem does say "Your mother said those words to me, She was wrong too" to Ruby. Yang does say that Summer was baker of cookies and slayer of giant monsters, So Summer must've been incredibly skilled to possibly go against Salem herself. But, we don't know if she is actually dead since you did say something about that there wasn't a body under Summer's grave.
I did some investigating and that she failed her mission and could possible be imprisoned by saylum and could of possibly died by her. But I really do my think she was the summer maiden because her clothing would look more revealing instead of an white hood so I possibly think she is the spring maiden if she is one or has been one because of her personality and a bit how she looks another theory is that Summer went to run from her last mission to go in hiding but died from starvation in some kind of abandon home or in a forest.

I still think Salem is keeping her as a prisoner, the lieutenants don't know about it, and it's possibly bait to lure out Ruby or even other silver-eyed warriors. The "Your mother said those same words" line still doesn't really imply anything about Summer's fate, only that they did eventually meet.

I think Summer Rise is the Summer Maiden. As we've seen the fall, spring, and winter maiden are currently known to us rn but what about the summer maiden. I'm thinking that Summer Rose is the summer maiden and that's why she went into hiding. It's possible that she knows about Salem and everything because she has SILVER EYES. In the beginning, Ozpin states that Ruby has silver eyes and proceeds to trust her because of her ability. The same could be said about Summer. Probably jit all the truth came out of Ozpin but secrets unknown to the rest of remnant, were known to Summer which is why she has the knowledge of the relics and maidens. The mission that Summer Rose dissapeared in was probably escorting the Summer maiden and maybe somehow the summer maiden had died and gave Summer Rose her maiden powers. I'm betting on it. Summer Rose is the Summer maiden (this theory also came because of her name as well....😂😑)

I'd like to point out that Mercury Black has silver eyes meaning that either he's father or mother had silver eyes, because it is passed down through bloodline linage. Could he be related to Ruby in some way? Perhaps her half-brother?

I know this probably won’t happen, but I hope near the end of the epic fight between Cinder and Ruby, Neo will backstab Cinder, and target Ruby. Then, both both will literally be on the brink of death and then Salem comes to collect both UNTIL Summer appears and saves all their asses! That’d be epic, I’d love to see her weapon and semblance but probs not gonna happen. A girl can dream...

Like you said, whatever happened to Summer is something not even Ozpin had seen before, that grimm is definitely unlike absolutely anything anyone has ever seen. I wouldn't be surprised if there was some sort of prophecy about a silver eyed warrior. That's why in Red Like Roses Pt. 2 feels like she forced something onto Ruby. It didn't fit Summer like she had hoped which means it will fall onto Ruby. It would also fit with Ozpin commenting on her eyes upon first meeting Ruby, thinking he may have found the "chosen one."
New Theory: She maybe alive but maybe she knows how to destroy Immortality.
Possible, maybe when she visited the afterlife, she was summoned back to the world by the God of Light meaning she made a promise as well to him like Ozpin.

I think Summer used the first question to ask about why Salem wants to eradicate silver eyed warriors. We know because of V6 that Jinn is a storyteller, and if it’s not a simple answer, you best bet she gonna be the next Tolkien. All she needed to show was Oz discovering the relic and asking the questions. Instead she showed them the history of the world, which yes he was hiding, but it’s not what he didn’t want them to know. But if she were asked why Salem wants the silver eyed warriors dead, it’s not only because they can destroy Grimm, but they can also nullify magic. That’s why Salem warns Cinder against fighting a Ruby who has harnessed her eyeball lasers. It could also revert Salem back to being normal, but now she is also powerless. She can’t end the world if the very sight of her doesn’t make people crap there and then, and so she must stop these at all costs.
After Summer left, she could have realised what a threat she was to Salem. Because she’s smart, I think she realised that by going to Ozpin or going home, she would be putting her friends and family in danger. After discovering this, she flees. The Spring maiden wouldn’t have fled by then because if someone disappeared 17-18 years prior, I would say ‘almost two decades ago’ and not ‘over a decade ago’, so she could have known her in training, and if Summer was the Maiden, she could have been Spring’s mentor.
Now, Salem somehow discovers that Summer knows. Not too long after, she gets a few previous faction members and Hazel to go ‘collect’ her. Summer is able to defeat the others, but Hazel is able to overpower/reason with her (“Nobody needs to die today” - The origins. Maybe it was a Summer quote that stuck with him) and she is brought to Salem.
Salem holds Summer hostage to experiment (which is why she gets a scientist on her team) to try and figure out how to neutralise the silver eyed gift. However, due to this, Summer dies. Not before giving Salem the info that she recovered from Jinn, which explains why Salem knows Maidens should be cautious around the silver eyed warriors, but she does die. If she did have the Fall Maiden Powers, it would then be passed into someone random as the last person in her thoughts would either be too old, too young or a dude (Salem, Ruby, Watts/Hazel respectively), which would be why it would go to Amber, an early/mid-teenager at the time. Or she isn’t the Maiden and is still alive, still being experimented on, unable to escape. Who knows, she might even have gone insane/crazy/become an emotionless shell.
How the team figures this out? Ruby asks Oz/car what happened to her mother, who responds with he doesn’t know, but she used a question, went to find the answer to the answer and never came back. Later, Ruby/co is in a pickle and yells out Jinn, who demands they ask a question otherwise it will be wasted.

Ruby: “How did my mother die?”

or
Jinn: “I’m sorry, but I can’t answer questions about things that are about things that are yet to come.”

I think that if ruby ends up becoming the fall maiden it would be amazing if ruby tried to get cinder to redeem herself only for cinder to try and kill ruby by stabbing her after batting crecent rose away and charges up to ruby with ruby pulling out one of Penny's swords from volume 3 and stabbing cinder and ruby being the last young woman she thought about because of her blind rage thus becoming the fall maiden

I noticed that the pool of Grimm seems to have dried up quite a lot, and I feel like Summer may have used her silver eyes to shrink the pool while fighting Salem. In the Lost Fable episode, the pool is quite large, but in current times it consists of several small puddles. Either the pool is drying up over time, or Summer did a number on it with her eyes. Maybe weakening the pools like this put Summer into a coma, and Salem locked her away or killed her. Also, it might be possible that Summer was the spring maiden and passed the power to Raven when she died, but I am not sure about that.

Here's my theory maybe summer try to go fight Salem but then found the truth that she couldn't be destroyed and she wanted the hiding but knew it would destroy her family but she knew it would be the right call and over the years she's been building an army to at least give them a chance or find a way to enhance her powers and maybe she'll be in vacuo or maybe she died there and someone knew her and they gave her a book about the powers of the Silver Eyes which will be given to Ruby and then she'll find a way to either petrified Salem or maybe release her bond from the darkness which would work

My theory on who summer rose is one of two things either A:she is the summer Maiden because we have never heard any mention of the summer maiden at all other than the fact that she is one of the four or B:that she may be Ruby reincarnated after all ozpin also has that ability hers might just be more direct

I made a theory with a friend, about how Summer could actually be Neo. It makes sense given if Neo was the hardened assassin we see, she wouldn’t have been so scared of Raven in their first encounter in Vol. 2. This also explains the switch to silver like eyes when Neo saw Raven.
i would say that it would make sense that the maidens' power cant be passed on to children, but in the memory gin showed them, the kids realized they had the power, and from the way they looked, i cant say that they were older than 10.

If she is alive, I like the amnesia idea where she doesn't remember her family and encounters them by accident. I don't want her to regain her memories right away though. I want it to be like in the end of Teen Titans were Beast Boy finds who he thinks is Terra and she has no idea who she is or memories of him. I would want them to play with that to cause some tension for a while.

From the lyrics of Red Like Roses Part 2, it's super clear and sounds that Summer is alive. One line makes it sounds she has regrets for the choice she made and possibly not wanting Ruby to do the same. And then there's another line that makes it sound like she was protecting somebody other than her friends and kids. Ozpin maybe? Possibly from Salem? Or, somebody else entirely we have yet to meet in the series. I'm hoping V7 gives us these answeres. I really really do.
