Excellent video. I just picked up this model (dw402 type 2) for $20 at an estate sale. It runs perfect but it needs a guard/clamp. They seem to be out of stock everywhere. I might just try and fabricate one.
Honestly I don’t like the safety on the switch. I mean yea it’s safety but it ends up in my way.especially when I’m working a few hours and wearing gloves. Good video!
Could have just taped the roll pin and spring a flip tab out of the new paddle lever and installed it into the old paddle and you would be good to go. Just an idea.
You didn't read the instructions. It said to remove the strips that the old switch attached to. Then install the new wires with the flat strips pushed to the motor end. Then the other end with the slip on terminals plugs to the switch.
@@rogersshop You have the same sheet that I have. On the side that shows the individual parts with reference numbers, at about the middle of the page it list about six items that it states to do away with.

Not quite sure it was worth all the trouble. Harbor Freight has got some good deals on new ones. Fun to watch you fix it.
Where can I get that kit at ?

As another person commented, it would be helpful if you told us where you got the kit

The "instructions" that came with the kit said nothing about removing those strips and they would not pull out without breaking something.

I just use my smallest vice grips to wiggle those terminal strips out of there. Thanks for the advice!
I lost my time...
