I hope people appreciate what Jason did for Chicago. Imagine having the guts, and the chops, to take over for Cetera and then all the scrutiny you'd be under and doing such an amazing job, and doing it so well with all that pressure on you. Major thanks to Jason for all those great years in one of my favorite bands!
Jason, you’re crushing it on vocals and bass. As you know from being in the industry, the usual trend with songs in such high registers is that the artist plays them live a whole step down so they can get up there. But here you are, crushing it in the original key almost 40 years later. I don’t think Cetera can get up there anymore, so a big kudos to you. The same goes with your video on UA-cam singing “will you still love me” in the original key. I commend you! Keep rocking on, sounds awesome!
I have seen Chicago over 100 times from 1984-2018. When he left the band it was the end of the greatest era of the band. I met him once at a sushi restaurant when I was in Vegas, and my girlfriend got him to take a photo with me. It was like meeting your hero!
He's the voice he stepped in when needed and continued bringing them success.....Peter and Jason.....Priceless.....Chicago found the correct person to move them forward for what four decades was it? They hit gold two times.
Thank you Jason for being the voice of Chicago all those years. Saw you in concert multiple times starting in the 90’s. I honestly think your version of “If you leave me now” when I saw you in NJ in the early 90’s was incredible and dare I say the best version! Last saw you in Texas just before you left the band and it was just as great a concert.
I remember when Jason joined Chicago. Very talented bassist and singer. In the beginning, when they had him do Peters vocals, it seemed there was something off. However, when they had Jason sign a song where he was not trying to fill Peters shoes and just be himself, he was truly awesome. Always grateful that he worked his tail off to give the fans Peter sound, but I liked the true Jason singing in his style so much better. This performance proves it.
Wow you have an incredible falsetto ,,, another favorite song of mine through yrs, Wish my friend Jamie was still here to share this with , I miss him so, much . He enjoyed your talent as well.
@@jasonscheffofficial Yes, Jason Scheff still has that superb sound that helped modernize the band and draw a younger crowd to Chicago in 1985 once he arrived and kept that sound going for 31 years into 2016. He still has that special sound here as well and it is phenomenal.
This is fantastic. I came here after hearing Hard to Say I'm Sorry from Here I Am -- which is an absolutely beautiful version vocally and musically. So thankful I got to see you and Bill live with the band back in the day (with the Beach Boys on tour).
To Jason's right is Paul Rodriguez - Peter Cetera's fantastic lead guitar player & who shared the microphone on many songs for years during Peter's touring days--songs like Hard Habit to Break, Dialogue, Questions 67 & 68....Awesome guitarist & a hell of a nice guy! 🎸
@@RG-hf4et No, Peter Cetera was a voice of Chicago and was with them for 17 years from 1967 to 1985. Then came along Jason Scheff in 1985 and he was with them for 31 years until 2016. They have had other voices since, but give Jason the credit for staying power and pulling the band into the 21st century and new millennium. He was with them the longest as their frontman.
In a way I missed Jason's departure from Chicago more than Peter's. HE came into the band and proved critics wrong. Imagine the pressure .. Chicago never lost a beat . And as this video proves ,he never lost a beat. Rock on Jason.
Love that Jason still has the pipes! Bucket list…. Cowriting with that dude. 🤔😂 reality… I will have better luck tossing ping-pong balls in Bozo the clowns buckets for a nerf gun!

Jason ainda canta bem em tons altos. Já o Peter não consegue. Inclusive baixou os tons das músicas.
Saw Chicago every summer at Pine Knob in Clarkston Mi. Not as a Peter Cetera replacement, but a new member of the band. I was bummed when Danny "left" the group. But he basically said in his book it was mostly his fault. I In a group that big you need team players.
Sing it - don't yell it ! Jason does not serve the essence of the tune (Power Ballad) by a rough full voice with punch ! A soft strain or falsetto would be far better. Sadly the bar is high in this band - still a fan BUT, I INSIST ON competence too.
Thank you! And as my dear grandmother used to say when I made a comment like that, “I’d like to hear you squeak that bad!”. Show us how it’s done Bob! The microphone is wide open!
For a guy who apparently doesn’t like Jason’s talent & gifts, you sure seem to watch and comment on a lot of his videos. Like Jason referred to, either piss, or get off the pot!

Exactly
I like jason better than Peter as a vocalist
I appreciate it!
100% agreed 👍
That was so good, perfect vocals, drums and guitars. Playing bass lines like that and singing requires so much talent.
His momma encouraged Jason to take singing lessons for three years!! She called it !!! Nice one momma

Jason sounds as good as he did in 1986! Just amazing. Being away from Chicago has done wonders for his voice. Go figure.
31 years in Chicago, top 5 hits in the US, that is a wonderful and very successful career! Keep it up!
Timeless music, been a fan of chicago and jason scheff.watching from Qatar..

Thank God for Peter Cetera writing and originally singing this song 🎵 . Jason proves it has a lasting effect by covering it.

Love your rendition! Let the inspiration always be with you! :)
in the original key. wow!!
The voice of chicago! I"m really appreciating your performance and compliments to the drummer too. Good job!
The "Voice" of Chicago is Peter Cetera - no one else.

Excelente Jason
It's a terrific rendition of a classic but, at the same time, it makes you appreciate just how special Peter Cetera was.

Uno de mis cantantes favoritos. Chicago ya no es lo mismo sin Jason

I've been singing these lately. Totally slaying them better than cetera. Puhpow
NOBODY BEATS CETERA. .....GET REAL.

This is a damn tragedy, pathetic horrible and a disgrace to Peter cetera…
Useless Mr Squeaky.
