Bill Champlin and Jason Scheff were the dynamic vocal duo in Chicago for 3 decades. Both accomplished singers, musicians and composers. Name it, they got it. Of course both charming and good looking as well and still ❤❤❤

If Bill had of put his secondary voice ad libs into the original recording like he did in this version, the song would have been #1 for a year back when it debuted on the radio. I love how Jason kept it exactly like he did it in the original and how Bill has such an uncanny way of changing the background vocals to perfection! I love these guys and the memories of this song.

After 35 years, Jason and Bill sang the song again. The Chicago version is good, but this arrangement in the voice of Jason and Bill now is also great. After all, the famous songs do not fade even after many years.

I really got to hand it to Bill, he still harmonizes like it was 30 years ago. I can see why Bill enjoys singing with Jason.

Bill said that Jason's voice improved once he was out of Chicago and didn't have to sing the way they wanted him to. This is definitely a softer tone.

Jason and Bill both sound so great always! The song wouldn’t have sounded complete without Bill on this song. They were so vocally perfect together during their years with Chicago. It’s nice to hear them sing together again. 😊🎼

@@danielkelly5151 So was I. The release date for that Chicago 18 album was September 29, 1986, so it rode up the charts through much of 1987 and became an iconic 80s song.
They sound nearly the same as the original.

I always say Chicago ruined Jason's voice. As time went on he would since lead on more and more songs live and Robert less and less. Then Jason got fired and his voice got a rest and healed. I agree, he sounds as good or better than ever.
Better than the original. Jason is allowed to sing like JASON. Bill adds his special touch as Jay blends in the magic.

@@arniedeblank9050 I agree with you on your statements except one. Jason Scheff was not fired from Chicago. He was with them for 31 years and left voluntarily due to family issues in 2016. His voice was not ruined, it has merely matured.
@@psrando Yes, the three of them together have a good remake and new album here. Jason Scheff sounds as good as ever and so does Bill Champlin as well. Jay DeMarcus helps keep it contemporary and close to the original.

After all these years, Jason still owns/sings this song very well. I grew up the Bill and Jason era so they're my Chicago. Despites so, there are just some songs you just know who own what, e.g. Jason: Will you still love me, Bill: Look away, You're not alone, Peter: Hard to say I'm sorry, You're my inspiration.

I feel that this song is one of the highest quality in Chicago's history. When I heard that Peter Cetera would be leaving the band, I thought the direction and tone of the band would change, but I never expected that KEAN's vocalist ~Chef~ would reach this level. I still think it's the best I've ever heard, and it's one of the best in American rock. The chorus with Bill's bass is also great! 😊 from Japan's chicago freak.
30+ years ago my wife and I chose this amazing song for our wedding dance. It's been "our song" ever since. Such depth, optimism and love is carried throughout this complicated balled. Jason & Chicago, thank you for being the soundtrack of our life.

Staggered Chicago never did any of the ‘Jason’ stuff live. I mean he’s great doing Peter’s stuff. But man he was lead on so many of these great songs which they never played live after a certain era! Much respect and still sounds incredible in 2024!

This version is beautiful for so many reasons. Not the least of which is that the guys look and sound like they’re loving both the singing and the song. Jason sounds absolutely great, and Bill is really bringing it and knocking things out of the park.

@@leafl75 Yes, they both still do justice to the song even without the Chicago bells and whistles.🙂 They bring out the core of the song at a more mature time in all of our lives. However, their voices seem unchanged over 34 years since the original release.

There is a decidedly different vibe to this, without the warmth of Loughnane's Flugel lines. BUT I DIG hearing Jason be Jason. Very well done arrangement and Champlin back there, Singing his tail off as always. Excellent.

By a long shot, this is my favorite Chicago song. When I hear it, it takes me back to being an 8 year old in ‘86 and hearing it on the radio. The original is a music video I watch often. I followed Jason since he left Chicago and I really appreciate getting to hear a new version of this....I listened to it within hours of its release (like a year ago?). Awesome to see Bill involved too.
I was 14 when this was first released on all over radio. That really makes me feel old.
