Hi, Jeff! We were visiting friends in Utah and made three recipes from your "orange cover" book. I was so inspired that I BOUGHT IT!! We also bought a new Instant Pot Duo Plus, which came today! I'm noting that I think we have an even newer version of the Duo Plus as this one has a grey lid; not black. Either way, I'm looking forward to making our first meal...tomorrow!! So I subscribed to keep in touch!! BTW, I noticed that the new version we got also has sous vide functionality. How cool is that? I'll be looking for one of your recipes featuring that capability!

Hiiiii!! You just made my whole year!🤗 I won an Instant Pot Duo, from my job last year, but was so afraid to use it, because of the "dangerous pressure cooker" warnings, from my childhood, it's just been sitting there looking at me! 😂 My trusty rice cooker finally died, so I figured now was the time! Today, I started looking on UA-cam for IP rice videos, but they all assumed I knew what I was doing or didn't use my version 😔 Then I found YOU! Thank you so much for taking your time, explaining it step by step, and deciding to make the mac and cheese! I did it right along with you, step by step, and I still can't believe that in 6 minutes I had mac and cheese (vegan cashew cheese)! It was perfect! I'm a vegan, so I'll adjust as I go, but I'm really looking forward to seeing more of your videos! Thank you so much for taking the pressure out, of using a pressure cooker! 😁
Maybe I'll be the first to comment that I got the upgraded IPDP for Christmas 2024 and while it sits in the box I immediately went to UA-cam to find out if anyone can help me learn how to use this machine and I found your channel. And I am so grateful that you have this video cuz it is pretty intimidating to a cooking dummy like me. And I got a bonus Mac and cheese recipe! Thanks man!
GREAT video! I now GOT the new upgraded one shown here. THANKS! My 1st one was the duo Plus 9-in-1 which I LOVED. Then I bought the new one with the handles that I have been using and DISLIKE it. I just got this instant pot (the updated new one). It's my first instant pot! I know, I know, I'm late on the bandwagon. But better late than never! I love your videos, this helped me a lot! Thank you!!! :)
I just bought a “new” Instapot duo plus 8 quart, brand new, for 20.00 on Facebook. The kind lady said it just wasn’t her thing. Now, I was looking for a 3 quart not an 8 quart but oh the things I can do. Ive Bern using manual and instapots for ever and I absolutely love the versatility of the instapot. So, I came to your channel just to get familiar with this new version and even for me your video was super helpful. Thank you!
I just purchased the 6 qt upgraded one from your Amazon link. I'm really excited to get this one to just keep on my kitchen counter. I purchased the Duo Nova 10 qt in Oct 2020 for an Amazon Deal of the Day for $99! I love it and use it to make bone broth and large quantities of rice and beans to freeze dry. But, for everyday cooking, it's just too big! Thanks for the great video! Ordered your cookbook too...looking forward to trying out some of your delicious recipes! Thank you for a great video. So glad I discovered your channel today!
I have a very early model, an impulse buy that turned into a go-to godsend! The sealing ring does absorb flavors, so a spare will be very useful when I upgrade. 🙂
Fabulous vid, Jefferey, VERY helpful! A newbie to IP’s, I was on the fence about what Instant Pot to buy, then decided I wanted the sous vide feature, which narrowed it down. This video confirmed the Duo Plus is the one! After watching many Intant Pot recipe vids, the constant checking of the seal/release button seemed like a pain, so was glad when you showed that with this updated model that checking the release valve before each start is now a thing of the past. Well, off to Target to get get my Duo Plus! Your cookbooks are on my list too!
Thanks for the detailed demo of the new Duo Plus! I purchased my first Instant Pot (I had a pressure cooker, but it was a different brand) during Amazon Days and got a great deal. I also decided to move up to an 8qt from a 6qt. I love the safety of the new pressure release area on the lid. That is much different than on my older 6qt pressure cooker. All in all, I know I will love this 8qt Instant Pot Duo Plus and now, thanks to you, I'll know how to use it! 💜💜💜
I love the Duo Evo Plus (especially the silicon handles) and wanted to add the air fryer lid. Except you can't. When I contacted the company for advice about this or purchasing a 6 qt with Duo Evo Plus capabilities that could use an air fryer lid, the answer was surprising: The representative said the Duo Evo Plus is being discontinued. The Duo Crisp does not have all the functions of the Duo Evo Plus. The have just released the Pro Crisp & Air Fryer which does have all the Evo Plus functions plus Air Fryer, but it only comes in the 8 qt size. The rep did not know if it will be manufactured in the 6 qt size.
Thank you for this video. On your recommendation I purchased this model and have been very pleased with it. It’s a nice replacement for my original Duo. My only criticism is that the lettering on the buttons is grey not white and there isn’t enough contrast with the black surround to make it easy to read! I’m going to have to keep a flashlight on the counter when I want to use the instant pot !
Thanks for this video! I got an Instant Pot recently, but I bought mine at Target. They were having a big sale as it was a special combo (came with the standard trivet and a silicone muffin thing). Unfortunately, I couldn't find an unboxing video for my specific set. It's disorienting watching people cook with their Instant Pots when cooking is something you have no skill in and your pot doesn't look like theirs. This video made it very easy and now I feel better about using my Instant Pot! Thanks again. 😊
I actually like spinning the liner pot. It helps me stir the ingredients better and makes it a little easier to push stuff on the liner wall back into the pot. I guess I'm used to that now!
I agree - for saute/stir fry "spinning" makes it easier; lot of stove top woks are extra easy turning and for years I had an electric one that was designed to manipulate with one hand while stirring with the other. I wonder why they didn't design it to lock/spin. Because the pot is deep, you're right, mixing ingredients was easier before. Oh well.
Thank you so much I’ve had my Insta pot for quite some time now and I was trying to figure out how to use it and came across your video and it helped me tremendously. Thank you.
I just purchased from Macy's. From $129 to $79. Not bad. Found your channel & subbed. Thanks for this tutorial giving me an idea. Never used an electric pressure cooker before. Can't wait to start using. Should be here tomorrow!!!!!
I have the Duo Evo Plus which has all the features of this model, but it also has a steam function which I do use for reheating leftover meals. I put the leftovers in a pot that fits the liner and set it on a trivet and it reheats beautifully. Also, the liner has a flat bottom and handles that lock it into place to keep the liner from spinning. The flat bottom makes sautéing easier as the food stays in place and doesn’t slide to the side of the liner. It also allows reheating on a stove burner, if desired.
I `just bought the brand new duo crisp pro. It is all black and gorgeous. Your recipes are still the best and thank you for including the extra instructions for the 8 qt like in the cacciatore recipe
I just bought The duo plus 2.0 and it’s my first présure pot. I’m watching videos to get used with the noises to avoid to freak out while using it. I’m kind of scared of it so I want to know very well how to use it 😀 Thank you very much for this video, it’s very clear! 😀

I love my new 8 qt Pro Crisp. It differs in a few ways: inner pot has heat proof handles that also prevent spinning, no + - buttons because it has a dial you turn & I like this better, and you get the air fryer lid plus the new inner basket/trivet thingy (which I love). It also has the Sous Vide function, which is also useful for making yogurt.
Oh man the macaroni looks soooo good. I’m new and hoping to be able to afford your books sometime. I definitely will be saving this so I can make the macaroni soon. Thanks!!!!!
Thank goodness you did this :) My 6 qt needed replacement as someone in my household broke it and I got this one and saw differences lol. Thank you Jeffrey.
I half like the rubber nubs that keep the stainless pot stationary, BUT, my DuoPlus definitely has hot spots, very noticeable on prolonged sauté functions. If that inner pot doesn't move, you get a bad burn, which is a pain to clean, and ain't great for flavor. That is probably my biggest IP complaint. We do a lot of sous vide-ing. I assume the pot lets you set temperature AND time? Again, until you've done sous vide, you haven't cooked properly! I wouldn't do the browning with the saute function, however. I really like the Sterilize button. It isn't "necessary", but it's great to have if you are putting up jams or jellies, which I now do, thank you Mr. Instant Pot! All and all, excellent video, again, thank you!
Next gen models like Pro have a clad disc flat bottom which evens out the heat. Also allows me to saute on the stove which keeps the I.P. clean and prolongs the life of its heater. Built in insulated pot handles make hot transfer with bare hands a breeze. Would not want the extra step of having to push the inner pot down on Duo. S.V. is better on next gen Pro but a circulator is still required for proper S.V. If canning consider 15 p.s.i. capable Pro Plus or Max.
I used my Instant Pot Duo Plus 6 Qt for the first time this evening. I made chicken with vegies. It came out really great. your video helped me a lot. thanks for making this video. very helpful.
Jeffrey, thanks for the update on the new model. I am intrigued by the sous vide function. Any plans for recipes using this function? It would be appreciated.
You can use any sous vide recipe with any sous vide device. Instant Pot site and app may have some by now. All sv devices just use hot water to cook food in a bag. So you could pick a recipe from Anova or whatever. Food must stay underwater, can't touch other pieces, can't rest on the bottom, because you need water on all sides of it to cook it. Use hot water in the IP for sous vide because it takes too long to heat up cold.
I tried to get to you by email but found I have to post here, so no harm I hope, but I sure hope you look into the new 2021 Instant Pot Pro to demonstrate for us. Like I said below, I did NOT know about the Dual Plus upgrade before I ordered the Pro but, just received it and did the water test so far. I LOVE the handles to lift the pot out to empty the hot water, PLUS, all the other improved features from my original Dual Plus. Appreciate your valuable videos here.
New subsciber here🤗! You are just awesome! I just inherited the duo plus and your video is so helpful and thorough. I was a bit nervous using this but you made it easy for me🤗. Thank you so much!
thank you so much for detailed information. have had IP for years but upgraded to duo plus. well I was freaking out and thought it was broke because steam was coming out and pin had not even come up yet. on your video you showed little bit of steam coming out, did water test again and waited, and it worked,
I am a newbie with instant pot , what about the steam bottom ? The new one does not have one ? 🤔how do I steam veggies ? I was waiting to see if you were going to mentioned , but you did not , maybe you can help me with that thank you
I know this is way old but apparently, put a cup of water in the liner, put your veg in a steamer basket, and put the time on 0 for pressure cooking. As soon as it comes up to pressure it's done and you cab check it. If it needs a little more time, put the lid on for a minute, no more than 2, and take it straight out. I'm new but that's what I've learned so far.
Mine seems to be a combo. It has the sous vide lower right, pressure cook upper left but still has meat/stew and steam. the controls are pressure lever, keep warm,-, +, Delay Start and cancel
There are about 3 versions of 6 qt Duo Plus. IP put sous vide on the 6qt in Fall 2019 and didn't update the 3 and 8 qt at that time. This lid is only on the very newest ones. The 2019 and stainless 2020 versions have the Duo Nova lid. The original Duo Plus has the original Duo lid.
thank you so much.... very helpful vid. NO STEAM BUTTON??? so i guess we just do "normal pressure" type stuff and set it on vent? anyone understand why they removed the steam button and what you do w/o it?
Don't own Duo Plus but try p.c. setting at low pressure and sliding open the vent release AFTER you lock the lid. More water required obviously. Must do this on my Duo Evo Plus even though it has a steam button. Steam means no pressure so can't imagine how any of the models which trip the steam release shut when lid is locked do not require manual opening of the steam release to steam without pressure. Best to experiment with broccoli because color and texture make the results very easy to judge. Odd that expert Jeff has not addressed this.
I got the Duo SV a couple of years ago from Costco. The SV function was exclusive for a while but I never used it. The Plus upgrade seems to resemble mine a lot.
I just got one of these new 3.0 pots. Is the "steam" function on the older model anything but a preset time? I've seen some recipees using the steam function but this pot doesn't have that button.
Thanks so much for this video tutorial. It’s exactly what I was looking for. I just purchased this in the 3 qt. and it’s upgraded. 😄👍🏽 Directions are awesome. This version also omitted the steam button but I will try the pressure cook button with 0-2 minutes and see how it goes.
Hello and a HUGE !! Thank you!! You are the only one on here that I see actually explaining the instant pots . I never had another model and I have received this one I’m so confused because I’m trying to get directions for bone broth but it’s different for my machine ! Helllll…p 😩. I also accidentally threw out the red rubber ring, thinking it was part of the packaging !! Please can you give me direction on how to do bone broth & chicken feet bone broth using this upgraded machine . To much happening at Xmas, I obviously threw out its directions.. eye yai yai !, Sandie
What does BANJO say about it?? LOL I have an Instant Pot S/V and I do love it but I think I may upgrade to this new one for the convenience of the self sealing/venting. For the price now on Amazon Prime 55 dollars is worth it because if you go to Target to buy a replacement stainless steel 6 quart insert costs $35. 00 anyway!
Jeff. love the video's man. My model Duo Plus / 6 Quart does not have a steam function - Like I need to steam tamales for 1 hr or so, but I have no steam function in my model. ..
Thank you so much for clearing my mind, I thought I was going nuts following recipes and not getting success. I have ended up throwing ingredients into my pressure cooker and going that route. How do I go about getting recipes for my new duo plus upgrade??? I am trying to make a coffee cake for hours now....going crazy!
Thanks for the great video! Exactly what I was looking for to decide which one to buy. I bought the upgraded model but the steam option is no more available as a preset function anymore. Which option should I select to steam?
The difference between models has always confused me. I bought my first pot- a 6qt Viva on a pre-black Friday sale and I see I got the 2nd ring, a release button that looks like the new one, minus the thumb switch. I also got the Sious Vide button. I think I got lucky for around $50
I got the same Viva deal 2020. Was also confused so ordered the Max, Duo Evo Plus, Nova and a a Best Buy brand. Quickly found the nex gen models like Duo Evo now the Pro to be a game changer easily worth $30 more. Pro is on sale today for $80.
Good presentation. I have a pressure cooker and recently bought a 3 quart Instant Pot. The Instant Pot is not, in my opinion, intuitive. Just by watching your video, the new Instant Pot Duo Plus seems much more intuitive to me.
Thank you for the great review! Which red is your ka stand mixer? Imperial red candy apple hot sauce etc. It's the perfect red. What do you use it for? Anything besides baking goods?
Thanks for the info. about duo plus. i just got it but confuse how to use steam if my pot doesn't have that function.Which function will I use instead. Thank you very much.
I bought the new duo plus because of your video which helped me to differentiate the differences between the two duos…Thank you as always you’re greatest…my only regret is that then 3 quart one which I have since bought also is still in the older version…no windows at the top of the home page to let me know what’s happening 😩!
Looks like outside of sous vide, the enhancements make it more intuitive so as to flatten the learning curve for newbies. That's fine, but the better bargain is to get the old one at half price from someone wanting to update their Instant Pot. There's not much of a learning curve on the old one, thanks to Jeff's videos.
Hi, great video! Thanks for doing all these wonderful videos. I have a question about the steam function. I have the older Duo Plus and now I just bought the Upgraded Duo Plus, there is no longer a steam button. How do I pressure steam in the Upgraded Duo Plus that doesn't have the steam button? Thanks in advance for any help.
@@jet4266 Steam no pressure function is important for delicate foods. Even broccoli comes out better. I'd read the manual. Possible as simple as just opening the steam release after closing the lid. Remember to add extra water. If no way to set to steam no pressure then go for a diff model .
I just my got my new instant duo plus pot today and found your review video. For some reason when I put the metal pot inside it still spins very easily like the older model. I see the four little rubber type pads inside but apparently my pot isn't the same diameter as yours is. I've pushed it down, turned it a little hoping it would lock in place but it still spins. Any ideas as to why mine won't stay in place? Thank you for the great review and the Mac & Cheese recipe.
I just ordered the new one since I love the old one but need something a bit healthier. Can't wait. I have no idea what recipes are in it. Loved the layout of the older one
All sous vide devices do the same thing. Use a sous vide recipe from any source or device because you're just using the water to cook the food. Keep the food submerged in water, and it can't touch the bottom, or the other food packets because each piece has to be fully surrounded by water. Start with hot water, too. Cold takes forever to heat up. I ran a sous vide water test first, just water in there, to see how accurate my IP is, and a learned to set mine 1F degree lower so that temperature doesn't overshoot. I use pressure lid with vent open . I think the IP site and app have sous vide recipes now. It's easy. But if you're mostly going to cook meats very rare, you may want to get an immersion circulator or other sous vide device for more precise temperature control .
In addition to my last comment I did exactly what you suggested I said it's a high-pressure and made sure it was registering on high pressure press the start button the unit I have automatically sets the pressure relief valve to the closed position when you lock it into place I set the time for 5 minutes it goes from the on position to the time position by that time the pop-off valve is up and sealed less than one second later the pressure relief valve start spitting out water constantly and it won't stop these are two brand new units right out of the box
@@Katy-ye1zr From everything I have read,Most slow cookers are set to cook between 190-205 on low and 285-300 on high. They tend to take a long time to get there. I have three IPs (1 duo6 plus and 2 duo6) and have tested each. After 2 hours with 3 inches of water low 170 and on high 205. Lots of complaints in the Facebook groups I'm in.
@@danengelbertson3766 Confused now, I was quoting from something I read about temps for slow cooking / settings of IP and I think it was info for older models in which temps were 180, 190 and 210 respectively. the higher numbers I'd given a bit ago were later info I found. I think I'm going to have to see what Instant Pot site themselves say..
@@Katy-ye1zr That's close to my and others tests of the IP. It is much lower however than a dedicated slow cooker. There has been lots of discussion over the years that high on an IP is the same as low on a regular slow cooker.
I've got a 2 year old duo plus, no problem making Jeffrey's shrimp in lobster sauce, which does a 0 minute setting for the shrimp. Just dial back the time to 0.
O min p.c. means it shuts off or switches to warm as soon as pressure is reached with o minutes of p.c. cook time. Cooking from the stored heat and steam will continue until it cools down. Duo Evo Plus lost -0- min p.c. time too but I just set to steam instead. Try 1 min p.c. function low. Open the steam release after you close the lid and add a bit more water. Don't have Duo Plus but should work.

Also, the liner has a flat bottom and handles that lock it into place to keep the liner from spinning. The flat bottom makes sautéing easier as the food stays in place and doesn’t slide to the side of the liner. It also allows reheating on a stove burner, if desired.
I have this one I too use steam where I would have used the microwave.
I also like not having the start button.
I also added the Air Fryer lid.
@@richlaue air fryer lid doesn't fit the duo evo plus.... are you sure you have that model?
@@SohiHien sorry, I have the Viva
Use my instant pot today for the first time its so awesome!! And thank you for the short but to the point review for the upgraded pot! 😍😍
Tg
Jeffrey, thanks for the update on the new model. I am intrigued by the sous vide function. Any plans for recipes using this function? It would be appreciated.
You can use any sous vide recipe with any sous vide device. Instant Pot site and app may have some by now. All sv devices just use hot water to cook food in a bag. So you could pick a recipe from Anova or whatever. Food must stay underwater, can't touch other pieces, can't rest on the bottom, because you need water on all sides of it to cook it. Use hot water in the IP for sous vide because it takes too long to heat up cold.
Your explanations are very clear, couldn't be better than that ! Thanks for sharing !
Mine too
I really appreciate this review. I was confused when I went to order a duo plus like your other video and I received something different.
Thanks so much! I didn't understand the new switch but you made it clear!
thank you so much.... very helpful vid.
Great video. Mines arriving soon. I look forward to seeing lots of sous vide recipe videos 😎
Were you able to find out how to steam using this device (coz it is lacking it)? Pls teach me how to do it. Thanks
This was a very good video! Thank you for this!
pls help ... how to use this if I need to "steam"? This feature is missing. Also, what do I use to cook beef shank?
Jeffry that a great video to star up with the duo plus.. I just got mine.. !!! I'm sure I will make that mac and cheese sometime..
Thank you so much for the step by step guide. Truly appreciated it and definitely going to make your Mac and Cheese!
Hello and a HUGE !! Thank you!!
You are the only one on here that I see actually explaining the instant pots .
I never had another model and I have received this one
I’m so confused because I’m trying to get directions for bone broth but it’s different for my machine ! Helllll…p 😩. I also accidentally threw out the red rubber ring, thinking it was part of the packaging !!
Please can you give me direction on how to do bone broth & chicken feet bone broth using this upgraded machine .
To much happening at Xmas, I obviously threw out its directions.. eye yai yai !,
Sandie
What does BANJO say about it?? LOL I have an Instant Pot S/V and I do love it but I think I may upgrade to this new one for the convenience of the self sealing/venting. For the price now on Amazon Prime 55 dollars is worth it because if you go to Target to buy a replacement stainless steel 6 quart insert costs $35. 00 anyway!
I learned something about my Insta pot today! Thank you
Very good explanation, thanks so much for sharing!
Your presentation is very clear .. thank you
How do you steam in new Duo Plus. Your videos are very helpful.
I see that this new version doesnt have Meat Stew and Steam button. What should I do if I need to stew or steam something?
Jeff. love the video's man.
Thanks for the video! How can I use the meat function in the 2.0 version?
My new instant pot duo plus does not have the steam button. What do I use for egg bits?
Thanks for the info. about duo plus. i just got it but confuse how to use steam if my pot doesn't have that function.Which function will I use instead. Thank you very much.
I bought the new duo plus because of your video which helped me to differentiate the differences between the two duos…Thank you as always you’re greatest…my only regret is that then 3 quart one which I have since bought also is still in the older version…no windows at the top of the home page to let me know what’s happening 😩!
Had to take one for the team! 😂
Have you used the sous vide option yet?
Looks like outside of sous vide, the enhancements make it more intuitive so as to flatten the learning curve for newbies. That's fine, but the better bargain is to get the old one at half price from someone wanting to update their Instant Pot. There's not much of a learning curve on the old one, thanks to Jeff's videos.
How do you steam without steam button in upgraded version ?
Hi, great video! Thanks for doing all these wonderful videos. I have a question about the steam function. I have the older Duo Plus and now I just bought the Upgraded Duo Plus, there is no longer a steam button. How do I pressure steam in the Upgraded Duo Plus that doesn't have the steam button? Thanks in advance for any help.
Were you able to find out how to steam using this device (coz it is lacking it)? Pls teach me how to do it. Thanks
@@jet4266 Steam no pressure function is important for delicate foods. Even broccoli comes out better. I'd read the manual. Possible as simple as just opening the steam release after closing the lid. Remember to add extra water. If no way to set to steam no pressure then go for a diff model .
Hi, what’s does the sterilize button do and do a demo on it too the the upgraded duo plus. Thank you
Making a first purchase and cant decide between the Duo plus and the Duo plus whisper? And recommendations? Thank you
Excellent Jeff!
Thank you for a great review. Have you done a review on the Pro by any chance?
I just acquired that one too. I have yet to use it. Nervous about it
I get your new cookbook on the 13th, can't wait
We received his first book this past Friday and made Jeffrey's Best-Ever Pot Roast (in the book) yesterday. Yum!
I just ordered the new one since I love the old one but need something a bit healthier. Can't wait. I have no idea what recipes are in it. Loved the layout of the older one
Hi jeffi I have purchased duo plus recently I have come confussion how to steem veggies.
Thanks for that very thorough! 🍻
Will you teach us sous vide recipes? I hope you will 🧡
All sous vide devices do the same thing.

Thank you for sharing. This was informative.
I wish they would come up with a way to combat the dreaded "burn" notice when cooking tomato based foods.
Yes I have a question. I have the new duo plus on my ribs do I put on saulte or pressure cook . Please let me know
Be nice to know if IP has fixed the temperature issue with the slow cook function. The earlier model has way to low temperatures in this function.
Isn't slow cook temps roughly 180F to 190F for Low. 190F to 200F for Med. and 200F to 210F High?
The High slow cook on these is like the low on old '70s CrockPots that have 8-12 hour cook times and don't boil food like the later ones do.
I have a question can we steam on the new upadated one? If yes then what mode i need to select?
How do I steam veggies or say Momos for eg without Steam button?
Hi...did u find a way to steam veg?
@@aksharas2327 no
Great review! Just bought a duo plus. I tried to cook veggies at the 0 minute setting. Is this not avail on the duo plus? Thanks!
Thank you for making this video. Very informative and helpful. Just purchased the Duo Plus 8 qt. and it arrives on Monday, 1/3. Do you have any recommendations on accessories for it?
How do you steam no steam option
Does the new Instant Pod Duo Plus 2.0 come in the mini 3L version…???
Can’t find the Duo Plus Mini anywhere……….
Very nice video. Can the 6qt non stick ceramic inner pot be used in this upgraded model?
I believe I have an older model IP Duo. Can I manually set the cook time and pressure? I am so consused. Thank you for your help. Btw, your mac n cheese looks so yummy.
According to the "official" Instant Pot description, the NEW duo plus with the grey lid is considered V4. I presume that means 'version' 4. It also has a completely different control panel and buttons.
