Definitely. Best thing to happen to the TL cameras. Now I can get the Leica version of the go to lenses and complement with both MF glass and affordable but great Sigma lenses. And if/when I get an FP or S1 Im good to go :)
Didn’t know you had a Leica CL! Can you do more videos of lenses used with your CL?? I own one with the same 23mm Summicron but I want to see what other potential lenses are out there that I can use. :D
This Sigma 45mm L-mount lens is excellent on the Leica SL1. Nicely sharp at f2.8 and very sharp at f4; so much so that I usually don't stop down beyond f4. The combo of this lens on the SL1 makes for a modest weight walk around camera and lens. The low-energy warning goes away with the latest Sigma firmware update for this lens.
@@yapster804 Sorry for a late response; personal business took all day. Sigma offered ZERO directions for updating firmware for this lens. I don't know what your camera is. For my SL1, I simply went to Leica's support page, found instructions for updating camera firmware. Included in those instructions were instructions on how to additionally update lens firmware. It went very smoothly and rapidly; done in less than one minute.
Focus by wire is a plague upon lenses now-a-days if you ask me. I love my Fuji lenses, BUT the laggy and imprecise nature of focus by wire makes lenses like my 56mm 1.2 feel cheap when it's actually a high quality lens! I much prefer my "cheap" Samyang 12mm when it comes to using the focusing ring. With that somewhat unnecessary rant out of the way, excellent review as always! Once again, congrats on 100K!
That's one of the reasons the EOS-R is my work camera. EF glass with traditional focus scales as well as AF. Perfect for hybrid shooting. And the RF 35mm has surprisingly good focus by wire. Much more consistent if that makes sense. Best focus by wire ever is in the original Sigma DP line imo. A physical control dial with distance numbers... Awesome.

3rd party manufacturers always offer something new and or different. Sigmas DC line would be perfect. Their 30mm 1.4 would be such a perfect lens on a fuji body. I really think a wider selection of lenses would attract more people to actually switch to fuji, as most of their 1.4 lenses are underperforming compared to their perfect f2 lineup, while being generally more expensive!

Hi there! I've been recently looking for a flash to use on my Leica M6 for a project I'm planning right now. And I think I remember you mentioning a small flash in one of your videos you could also take off the camera and use remotely. The flash kinda stuck together with the remote control unit when mounted on the camera. It seemed to be a very nice idea and I'd like to look into it but I've forgotten which video it was in. Do you remember that flash by any chance? Thanks a lot!

In the future I would like to buy leica cl and as in other cameras I already have the 35 and 50mm focal length I have thought that with this 45 which would be equivalent to a 65mm in the cl it could be interesting. Great review - how does the CL hold up against the Df for image quality? As I nearly bought the CL over the Df - not that I would change my mind, but I am curious on what one of my other options would have given me.

Wow, A CL is less than $2000 Australian here and $3000 retail. A used SL is just above. An S1 is no way near $6000. Not to mention an A7 which is only a couple of hundred.
Or fake zoom ring/lever on the case of compacts. Wish there were still relatively pocketable compacts with mechanical zooms around―like the Fujifilm X30. Shame that line didn't survive.
Very well made lens with some drawbacks. F2,8 is a very poor max aperture for a standard lens, personally would prefer f1,8. Were I live, is retailed around 550 Euros and it is not a cheap lens. On the other side, the market offers cheaper alternatives of good quality.
@@gearreallydoesntmatter Couldn't agree more with you Mattias. It's a really fine lens on my CL. I can live with the 2.8 because of all the other qualities it has.
@@gearreallydoesntmatter It is not an ART lens, it is Contemporary, meaning it is not highest quality, but smaller. It is designed for Full Frame, not APS-C, and it is not expensive IMO compared to other lenses. I didn't think Leica CL supported Sigma L mount lenses, so that was a surprise...

SIGMA FP is your camera dude ! Test it out. The low Light performance is amazing.

For that to happen, Fuji needs to give access to Tamron on the licence.

Its not a huge difference and not worth not using the R over for me. But its just color tones and the way the curves react.

Don't shoot much video outside of work and there I need a more stills oriented camera (enter the EOS R).

The Panasonic 50 is much more worth it, Unless you want the aperture ring.
Why would you choose this over a 50mm? 35mm yes, but 45mm? :-) (I mean the 50mm is very cheap, the 35mm is expensive ... so :-) )
I chose it for the low price and small size. Others might prefer the focal length, the aperture ring or simply the image.
Why would anybody buy an F2.8 prime lens (that's less than 200mm)? It doesn't make sense.
Size, image quality, price, build quality, aperture ring, AF speed, MF ability, weather resistance all probably makes sense to some people.
Why so surprised? It is Sigma, it is quality. Can't wait to get my Sigma fp with the 45mm... APS-C lens? sensor, surely? You get bokeh with FF.
