LL can rap obviously, but 2pac was for the struggle. Biggie was more lyrical than Pac,but that didn't stop him from making "Hit'em Up"! It was a lot of rappers more lyrical than Pac & they still couldn't fuck with him! #Facts
Rai Gresham It's facts when it's the truth. I speak truth so it's #facts! Name one rapper that shut 2pac down then you would make me a liar! Just name 1 rapper that shut Pac down?
Mookaron how about the fact that Bigge made "Who Shot Ya?" About a fictional foe, and Pac felt the force of the lines and the reception that song got and got so on his feelings he came back with "Hit Em Up", that basically was just someone ranting over a beat, wasn't witty, and only memorable for helping to fuel the beef. Biggie did get his attention as well with the line from "Brooklyn's Finest": If Faith had twins she'd probably have 2 Pacs. Now that's not saying that ended Pac, but just when he was challenged lyrically, he couldn't even really respond in kind. And is that the litmus test now for a great lyricist? You have to have ended a career? Then that would mean LL is better than him because he did it to 3 different rappers in different generations of the genre. Show me where Pac did that....
As a heavy fan of Pac he wasn't a great lyricist. Pac had a conscious/struggle/gangsta type of rap and the best energy out of all rappers on wax not to mention the poetry he spit. So for LL Cool J to be a better lyricist than Pac is believable but better Rapper? I can't agree
As far as fame and reach he could be seen as the greatest. Buuut what about actual rapping take the fame out of the equation and going off of strictly skill level and rhyming and lyrics then 2pac isn't the greatest rapper at that point he would be 10 forsure
with pac it was mostly poetic and delivery based, as far as ACTUAL RHYMING goes. Big L destroys Pac, Kane destroys Pac, Biggie destroys Pac, G rap destroys Pac, the list goes on and on and on. Thats not taking anything away from Pac because he had a lot more impact than most and pretty much put Hip Hop on a GLOBAL stage. Pac had a certain character which made him stand out but he's not even in the top 20 of best technical emcee's and wordsmiths
@@Qonvex I said Pac got busy lyrically when he wanted to. I have heard many records where he got busy. I didn't say he was better than the people that you named.
@@mukumbosimpito1571 go listen to AZ's Do or Die, or Pharoahe Monch's Internal Affairs. Then compare them lyrically and you will see that they are on another level. 2Pac had a great message in a lot of his songs and managed to put Hip Hop on a world stage but not with complex lyricism.
Yall tend to forget Pac died at 25. LL still living. Plus Pac died after his best album. If he lived to see 40 you would be saying he sold out. If LL died after MSKUO album or Bigger and deffer. you would be calling him the greatest
Talking politics didn't really age well. Now everybody talks politics. But damn I wish pac was still alive with how ugly the the political climate has become and how much respect pac has. It would be a definite game changer. Not musically but politically!
I hate how every old school rapper thought they was talking bout "politics" and the truth. His music is either "I kill cause I'm a thug" or " Men don't appreciate ladies" or "police brutality" like every other rapper back then
When Public Enemy said "Elvis was a hero to most but he never meant shit to me". A lot of younger people think it's just a lyric. They don't understand the time (era) or the context. Those were very powerful words and it was throwing a dagger to the American power structure. Vlad wants to judge based on sales, hits or likes. When he can't accept in Hip Hop or the culture is what are you doing for the Hip Hop culture. Tupac said, I may not be the one, but I will have inspired the one, in an interview. What will drake have inspired? Not a stab on his music but what does he do for the culture?
Kevin X so you think their aren't plenty of young rappers that are nice that look up to or have been inspired by Drake? Being socially aware isn't the only way to influence and help hip hop culture. Look at all the trap rappers that grew up on and were influenced by Gucci. That's a cultural impact. Drake has continued to blur lines between R&B and hip hop, along with Cole, Kendrick, and Chance and guys like that he's reaffirming you don't have to be a street cat to rap. On a business side he's showing folk how to sustain your wave he's doing things for the culture .
Public Enemy said that because they're ignorant on what Elvis was. They come from the new school of thought which is "hate everything white in order to boost blackness" and black people sometimes ignorantly assume that white people look at icons who happen to be white as a symbol of whiteness. Michael Jackson is a symbol of blackness to black people but Elvis is not a symbol of whiteness to white people. White people do not think along those community based lines.
Little Jimmy Scumbag Well I beg to differ. PE was talking about the system and they were counter to what the main stream wants us to buy into. That hurt some people's feelings. My original comments were more about how powerful that line was at the time. It made it safer for others to go strong against the establishment. Kevin
osp80 I see where you're coming from, it all depends how you look at unless you really knew the man then you'd really know if he was a thief or just really loved black music that much
I'm a die hard pac fan. People don't understand when they say "such and such is a better emcee than pac" pac was a poet a political rapper there are many better Emcees than pac but not a better artist. Like people like the person pac more than the rapper pac.
I have always argue that Pac was a better actor than rapper. but what always set him apart was his pen game.,,Lets face it his writing is what save him since his flow is just average. ,,he is no way a lyricist like a Big daddy kane or Rakim. His rhymes didn't roll off his tongue and had you jumping out your chair.
Imperial stats ###Bruh!! hop on your yellow bike and keep up , this isn't about Substance but more on DELIVERY.Pac was an average rapper who pen rhymes that was conscious and important.LL just brought the heat regardless of subject matter.
2pac may not have been the most lyrical in the sense of punchlines and lining up syllables per se, but his imagery and his storytelling was always moving and powerful. His messages and his outspokenness coupled with these qualities is why he is mentioned among being the best of all time. He may not have been the best MC, but as a rapper, his influence somehow very well goes within and yet way beyond Hip Hop. One!
I actually agree with this, even in the age of the GREATS of Big Daddy Kane, Kool G Rap & Rakim when LL stepped on the scene in the same era he shook the scene DOWN like yo this cat can RAP his ass off so that is something that can't be disregarded. because BDK, KGR & Rakim are arguably all top 10 rappers ever and LL is on the same level as those dudes
If LL ever had a public beef with Tupac, he wouldn't have let Tupac pull him down to the nonsense level, he would have forced Tupac to keep it Hip-Hop, and one to one, man to man, LL would have been completely remorseless. He would have never backed down. He would have destroyed Tupac.
This video is a big ass L & a Hard ass slap in the face.LL Cool J is A Dope Ass Rapper.but he's Nowhere near Better than Pac.Bih put some Respek For Pac name
Do people actually know what a rapper or MC is? I can name a ton of people that are a better rapper than Pac and I love Pac to death. But of you're talking rapping. Pac is a average rapper. Great artist and social leader but rapper. RA is right.
The problem is they don't know what an mc is. They don't even know what hip hop is smh. They were born during or after gangsta rap and jumped raps dick when it became mainstream and popular. They weren't around for the graffiti, breakin, block parties. They don't know the impact or sacrifice of Run Dmc, Kurtis Blow, LL Cool J, T-La Rock, etc put in to the culture. They speak on shit they don't know. Its like me trying to argue and debate with my mother about the Motown sound of the 60's. It could never happen I wasn't alive and only have second hand information.
Vlad he made you look like you not hip hop on that last question. Vlad co-signing these young dudes without a rebuttal and RUGGED MAN gave him fact and some game!
Some of Tupac's Interviews are more enlightening and meaningful then some of LL Cool J Albums. LL made a impact in Hip Hop, Tupac was a influence and made a impact in Society. If Tupac was still here today the world would be a different place.
@@kevinscott59 That’s because most pure hip hop fans like myself (I was born late 70’s) have listened to hip hop since the 80s so there’s an appreciation for the art form. These Tupac fanatics (their not the only ones) no nothing about the history of hip hop (exactly what RA referred to). And if social conscious rap is their thing…I bet none of them have much to say about Chuck D or Arrested Development, The Roots (to name only a few)..as they maybe have heard one song if that! But I don’t get so annoyed at that..I stick to what I like. However, last point to be made, the fanatics are as much of the problem as cooperations who have dumbed down hip hop and made it regress as a music genre…as these fanatics are the target audience who have supported it over the last 20+ years.

Yeah he was deep and poetical. But if we're talkin about straight bars there are plenty of rappers who do it better than Tupac. its so stupid that its controversial to say that. Tupac is great more for what he symbolized and what he represented.
Artistically and song wise, 2Pac still shits on most of his peers. Pac has more classic songs in his catalogs more than most rappers. Pac's passion and energy in most of his lyrics still can't be matched. Don't try and downplay who he was as an artist just because he wasn't spitting punchline after punchline. His work ethic and body of work is still one of the greatest in hip hop.
Someone please explain this: During the early to late 90's New York *loved* Snoop & Dre, Ice Cube, Cypress Hill, Likwit Crew and many other West Coast rap acts, but just didn't check for Tupac's music. He had a few songs that people thought were ok like "Get around" and "Keep ya head up" but it was never a situation where people were buzzing about his music the way they were for Wu-Tang, Gangstarr, Tribe, Snoop, Boot Camp etc.... So here is the question......Why not?
@BloodyJasonMask Any true 2Pac people know that album was his greatest deepest and more overlooked works in his entire career. Dear Mama was obviously a mainstream hit along with Me against the World being on Bad Boys soundtrack. But the album in full is by far his best overall project not 1 bad song and the message of him being depressed and in a very dark place while being incarcerated is just simply amazing even to this day .
"Hey Lover" was the shit back in the day. LL Cool J was one of those rappers that came out with a phenomenal song every now and then but he is not better than Tupac when you compare the complete catalogs of music from both artists. And I'm not even a Tupac fan like that.
It's always the rappers that are trash who got something negative to say about Tupac. it's like pac said "niggas talk a lot of shit but that's after I'm gone, cuz they fear me in the physical form, R.I.P. 2pac
HankBlockOG 2Pacalypse is a classic imo. Just about every Pac album is a classic. Shit, even some of the albums that the studios put together are classic-status contenders. Better Dayz for instance.
"All-time is a long time. If you don't know the history, how can you even have an opinion on all-time?." Those lines can murder anyone on their own track.
He's right but LL Cool J is not a better rapper then 2pac; their styles are totally different. i don't see how you can compare the two. Tupac made you thing and to a degree made you look at life differently Pac shook up the world.

California Love still gets played in clubs to this day... when was the last time you heard an LL song in a club? LL is a legend, but I give it to Pac... look at Pac's overall influence in hip hop. The word "thug" is used mainly because Pac put that on. FTW (f*ck the world) is a thing because of Pac. His presentation was so good they did the hologram show for him... and if you want lyrics, Pac had that flow too...
The fact that Pac is still on everybody's mind and talked about in a lot of interviews is enough of an answer. You don't have to argue about who's a better rapper. Pac's legacy will live on forever. The nigga died 20 years ago and people still talk about him to this day.
marley1221 he's saying that they're not capable of creating an original idea for a movie. that now they're relying on comic book movies, which require a lot less creativity because the story is already played out
pac is one of the greatest rappers of all time not because of his rap ability but his emotion and the experience u felt listenin to his music and his message as well
but at the same time, you wouldn't shit on his rapping ability. Eminem is a perfect example of how "rapping ability" is kinda meaningless. Great, you can fit 100 syllables into 2 lines and rhyme 20 words, but you said nothing of meaning. If your song is meaningless, it isn't HipHop.

Dude shutup, you know jack shit about hip-hop
LL can rap obviously, but 2pac was for the struggle. Biggie was more lyrical than Pac,but that didn't stop him from making "Hit'em Up"! It was a lot of rappers more lyrical than Pac & they still couldn't fuck with him! #Facts
Mookaron an opinion is not a #Fact. Lol, kinda proving R.A. Right here.
Rai Gresham ...true cause Hit em Up really isn't that dope to me. Neither did it damage Biggie's career. Faith really lost that fight.
Artman Nexus Hit Em Up is pretty weak lyrically not to mention Biggie did a better job on that beat on the Get Money Remix.

"drake's far from wack" - "that's your opinion!" haha... well said.
I love watching RA talk about rap history. DJ Vlad sucks at debating. His opinions are trash.
I really think he should compile a history of golden era hip hop in a book.
Kevin X word!

One!
Remember PAC would do 5/ 6 songs in one night .PAC was a beast .
Pac was a all around mc .. he can rap about anything … pac was versatile
I prefer those guys but LL was greater than them
If LL ever had a public beef with Tupac, he wouldn't have let Tupac pull him down to the nonsense level, he would have forced Tupac to keep it Hip-Hop, and one to one, man to man, LL would have been completely remorseless. He would have never backed down. He would have destroyed Tupac.

Some of Tupac's Interviews are more enlightening and meaningful then some of LL Cool J Albums. LL made a impact in Hip Hop, Tupac was a influence and made a impact in Society. If Tupac was still here today the world would be a different place.
This comment is pure comedy.

D Nice Biggie was a top lyricist not so much Pac tho. Pac rapped from his heart.

Someone please explain this:
During the early to late 90's New York *loved* Snoop & Dre, Ice Cube, Cypress Hill, Likwit Crew and many other West Coast rap acts, but just didn't check for Tupac's music.
